Tyn Llech is a lovingly restored 5 Star graded 17th Century two storey stone cottage nestling amongst ancient oak woodlands on a private 2000 acre country estate on the edge of Snowdonia. Originally two farm cottages, this charming house was designed by the Williams-Ellis family (Portmeirion) who have ensured that the renovations were in harmony with the surroundings. With its limed oak flooring, wood burning stove and pastel colours, whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or a family holiday, Tyn Llech won't disappoint. There are stunning views right across the Llyn Peninsular from both inside the house and from the pretty lawned gardens.

Why Tamar Ferguson chose Porthmadog
This adorable split-level stone cottage has been renovated in harmony with its surroundings. Step into a kitchen/dining room, sweet, simple and well-equipped, with a separate utility room for a dishwasher and washer/drier and a fabulous welcome pack on the table: milk, bread, home made cake and jam. A basket of our own logs from the Estate. Then it's up two steps to a charming low-beamed sitting room, its oak floor limed, its beams painted white. Modern sofas heaped with cushions face a wood-burning stove, logs courtesy of the surrounding estate and blue-painted French windows open to a flagstone terrace with a barbecue and canvas chairs. On another level is the master bedroom, an inviting and harmonious space: duck egg-blue walls, a view over the fields, a walk-in shower with a warm towel rail and a heated floor. Two further bedrooms lie upstairs. This is a beautiful cottage where colours are serene, fabrics are fresh, and prints, paintings and furniture (antique and new) add both character and style. Groups can spill over into the manor house or neighbouring cottage. There's Criccieth for castle and sands, Harlech for history, and glorious walks up in the hills.

Beautiful cottage in the North Wales countryside
What a lovely home away from home. Everything was exactly as per the description and of a really high standard. We took advantage of the meal offer on our arrival and it was fabulous. Looked after really well and would definitely go again.
Great that you enjoyed your stay with us and loved our cottage as much as we do. don't forget that you receive 5% discount when you stay with us again!
Perfect cottage for our family holiday
We loved our stay at Tyn Llech - the cottage was warm and cosy with lovely decor. It was well equipped with everything we needed. It was perfect for our 'excited' children who could run around the garden wildly without disturbing anyone! The area is stunning - from the beaches to the mountains. We did lots of walks in Snowdonia National Park, visited Caernarfon Castle and spent some time in Abersoch. We hope to visit again sometime - thank you!
Comfortable characterful relaxing retreat
We have just spent week here with our 3 children. A lovely setting close to local amenities and wonderful countryside. The Cottage is beautifully restored and decorated, the beds are wonderfully comfortable and the owners have thought of all the details to make it a truly memorable stay.
The area has so much to offer and the walking is tremendous. We would definitely return. Many thanks again
Stunning cottage in a beautiful location.
After walking into this beautiful cottage I quickly realised why it had been highly recommended to us. The characteristics of the cottage are breathtaking, the open fire, the soft furnishings, the fully equipped kitchen, just stunning. We spent 3 lovely nights here and will definitely be back.
The meal we arranged for our arrival was as promised delivered by Vivien who could not do enough to make our stay special. The meal was fabulous and a great start to our short stay.
Thank you for as letting us stay in your beautiful cottage in a stunning location.
Wonderful Tyn llech
We had a wonderful stay over Christmas at Tyn Llech. The cottage was wonderfully warm and comfortable. Our hosts had kindly decorated the cottage and provided a Christmas tree to add to the festive feel. The weather duly obliged with a dusting of snow. The cottage setting was perfect, secluded and quiet, but not isolated. We were provided with all the information we needed before and during our stay, and Viv the housekeeper was brilliant.
All in all we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend or stay again. We very much look forward to another visit. Thank you :-)
Beautiful cottage, ideal surroundings
We had the most amazing week. The cottage was perfect with everything we needed. The surroundings were perfect. We would love to come back.
Special interest holidays:
This is the ideal base for exploring the mountains and beaches of Snowdonia. The pretty seaside town of Criccieth (with it's splendid castle) is close by, as is the marina at Porthmadog. The Italiante Village of Portmeirion (which was designed by the owner's great uncle - Clough Williams-Ellis) is a short drive away.
Black Rock Beach with it's huge sandy bay is a 5 minute drive away. The stunning beaches of the Llyn Peninsular are on your doorstep. Criccieth with it's sandy beach and wonderful castle is only a few minutes away, as is the harbour at Porthmadog. Abersoch and Harlech are within easy reach.
The nearest airports are Liverpool and Manchester. The nearest ferry port is at Holyhead on the island of Anglesey.
Caernarfon castle is well worth a day's visit. Llanberis with it's West Highland Railway and the legendary Snowdon Mountain Railway is close by.
Included in the cost is a "Taste of Wales" Welcome Pack - home made jams and bara brith cake (made by our lovely housekeeper). We are happy to order a breakfast hamper with bacon, sausages and free range eggs from our local butcher.
Criccieth has plenty of independent shops and Porthmadog has a large Tesco.
We also supply a basket of logs for the wood burner (cut from our own woods) and a bag of charcoal for the BBQ.
