Townhouse in Hastings, Sussex, England - Central Position, 1 Mile Fromtown Centre & Beach
About Sheila Searcy
Our family home was no 49. My father managed a cinema with my mothers help. When we were old enough we worked altogether. 26 years ago we bought 47 after my neighbour died. I am Sheila & live at 47 with our 2 Labradors, Jessie & Annie. My brother's Robert who does tax work & Ian who runs small Post Offices. I am a mobile hairdresser. We work well together & have varied interests, one being the garden. Robert plays the organ at different churches & both Rob & Ian sing in different choirs. We used to go on self catering holidays ourselves as we had a dog & didn't want her to go into kennels. We wanted to have a holiday home that catered for young & old. We wanted to have a happy home for families & pets, so they could take away happy memories & would enjoy their holiday in all weathers & seasons.
Sheila Searcy purchased this Townhouse in 2007
Why Sheila Searcy chose Hastings
We live next door to the holiday home & love our location. The houses are spacious & well built, close to everything we need and enjoy. The sea is close by & it doesn't take long before you get to green spaces. We take our dogs Jessie & Annie to the Bos field or the West Hill most days & marvel at the views. The weather is also kind to us as we benefit from being in a protective bay between Beachy Head & Rye. It doesn't always protect us but often we escape the worst of the weather.
What makes this Townhouse unique
We try to give a warm welcome to our visitors after they have had quite often had a long journey. We bake scones and jam so that they can have a relaxing break after unpacking. We also share produce from the garden with whatever we have in the garden at the time, sometimes

Fantastic property with everything you could need.
Lovely house and great hosts. Has everything you need and plenty to keep the kids entertained. A great base for exploring Hastings and the south east.
Thank you for taking time to review the house . We were so pleased that you enjoyed your time in Hastings. We hope to see you again in the future.
Great place to stay.
A little gem. Will definitely be booking again. So well equipped and spacious. Booked for my family to stay and they loved it.
A home away from home
After a long and tiring trip from Germany Sheila welcomed us with coffee and self-made scones. We felt instantly at home.
A typical English home with very modern appliances, perfect for the eight of us. The garden with the game shed is beautifully kept and the four kids of our party were never bored.Everything you might need is catered for.
Sheila is a delight to talk to and such a help if you need anything.
We totally recommend Sheila and the house, especially for bigger parties like two families like we were.
Thanks again Sheila. You made our holiday in England a delightful and homey experience.
Hopefully we'll meet again.

Sheila & Family
Excellent accommodation with friendly and helpful hosts
The house was very high quality in decor, equipment and facilities. The garden and house were very dog friendly and the two dogs with us settled in very easily. The position was very good for access to all the places we wanted to visit. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and, living next door, were on hand when needed. They put themselves out for us, including helping with some extra parking space when needed.
Fantastic Family rental in Hastings
We stayed a week in Mount Pleasant, and Sheila welcomed us so well.
She took time to show us the house and to explain what to visit in hastings. It was really kind because we are foreign families and it's was our first time in Sussex.
She also made us scones and they were a delight !
We were 4 adults, 4 children and a baby. The house is lovely, big, cosy and really clean. Sheila had provided the house with everything that families need to enjoy holliday time :
- baby material, toys, a magic house in the garden where kids were all the time !
- Cosy living room with massage chairs (so good after a day of visits) and home cinema material.
- Confortable bed rooms and enought bath room for everybody
- Kitchen really big and with everything needed to make great family meals.
The house is really well located, with a lot to see around : We went to Bodiam castle, Battle Abbey, Brighton and the beautiful pavilion, and also so much nature at devil's Dike and the Birling gap and the 7 sisters.
We enjoyed so much our hollidays, Thank you Sheila for your Welcome.
We were so fine in Mount Pleasant and we will definitively comme back.
Thank you for your glowing review. It was a real pleasure to have your families next door. The sounds of laughter in the garden is always a delight. We were pleased that you had good weather during your visit to enjoy the surrounding area.
Fantastic holiday home
My husband and I love to get together with our two sons and their families at Xmas and as they live quite a way apart we thought renting somewhere which wood accommodate us all wood be fun. What a find this lovely house was - after a hug, a tasty plate of homemade scones and a tour round we knew we had found the perfect place. The kitchen is so well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is every kind of gadget you could think of including a coffee machine which Sheila switched on for us straight away (she had supplied coffee, tea, milk, sugar and a cupboard full of basics that we hadn't expected as well as all the necessary cleaning products too) it was a great sized room with plenty of space for us all at the dining table - the photos don't do it justice.
The lounge was so perfect with comfy leather recliners and the addition of the new massage chairs was a fab bonus. The tv was a good size and there was even a beautiful decorated Xmas tree - they thought of everything. Each of the bedrooms were a good size with very comfortable beds and there were plenty of bathrooms and showers so no queues in the mornings.
Outside, the garden was perfect for our two dogs, a husky and a greyhound, to have a run around and and the games room proved a hit with my sons and grandson.
Overall I can't fault this house at all and wood recommended it to anyone - as it was Xmas we were rather lazy and didn't venture out very far but Hastings has a delightful shopping centre and we all hope to return to visit the castle and caves some day.
On behalf of all my family I wood like to thank Sheila, Robert and Ian for such a wonderful welcome and say that we have had one of the best Xmas' ever!
Thank you for such a glowing review. We enjoyed having you stay in the house. We are always learning & the reviews, good or bad help us to improve. We hope to see you again & meet up with your happy, friendly family. Thank you Sheila
The seafront is about a mile away, the same as the town centre. It is shingle beach to protect the coast. We have the West & East Hills that look down to the sea. The fish market sells freshly caught fish from the boats. Hastings has the unique net huts & The new Gerwood Art Gallery, that is built to blend in with the huts. The Hills both have lifts from the Old Town to the top of the hills. The lifts were hydraulic but have been converted to electric.
