Overview

About the property

Cottage in Boscastle, Cornwall, England - Only A Short Walk From Boscastle Harbour And Village Centre, Perfectly Placed For Cliff Top Walks

Frogapits is a traditional stone-built Cornish cottage that has a charm all of its own. Set in a beautiful garden with a stream running through it, it's a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the perfect Cornish holiday. There are plenty of activities to be had during the day - cliff-top walks straight from the front door, beaches and surf spots within easy driving distance. In the evening, relax with a barbecue by the stream in the garden, or walk to one of Boscastle's three characterful pubs (the nearest of which is only 50 yards away). In the winter, the cottage comes into its own with a wood burning stove in the sitting room and a smokeless fuel stove in the kitchen - get both going at once and it couldn't be cosier. We really believe that you'd be hard pushed to find a house with so much going for it - as a family we've been staying here for decades and hope to do so for many more.

The rugged north Cornish cliffs are only a short walk away, there are beaches to drive to in the summer, some wonderful village pubs to spend the evening, great Cornish pasties to be had from the village baker's, and so many other things to enjoy about your stay here.

Wonderful quirky cottage in great location

  • 4 of 5

We love Boscastle and have stayed in various cottages over the years and all offer something unique, whether that’s the view, the facilities or the location but this year we chose Frogapits as we’d admired it many times when walking by. It really is in a great location being so close to the harbour - great if you prefer not to walk up the steep hill! Our dog simply adores the the river so she loved being able to go straight down to the harbour slipway first thing every morning! It’s bliss when there is no one else around, so if you’re looking for an escape from the crowds then Boscastle is perfect. Yes, the day visitors come but early morning and generally in the evenings you get the village to yourselves and a select other few! The cottage is old and full of character with lots of outdoor space.

There are some wonderful walks all around and we enjoyed the beaches a short drive away. If you have a dog then Trebarwith Strand is the nearest dog friendly beach but make sure you check the tide time and only go at low tide or an hour or two either side as there is no beach at high tide. You’ll also need to walk over rocks to get to the beach. There is a lovely pub overlooking the bay - the Port William - so worthwhile stopping here for lunch/dinner/drinks.

Our other favourite is Daymer Bay, which is dog friendly year round and a really lovely place to set up for the day. At low tide you can walk around to Rock although I believe there are restrictions here for dogs.... but people did walk with dogs whilst we were there.

Boscastle farm shop is another great place for a coffee and cake!

Beautiful cottage and setting...our favourite Cornwall cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This is our third visit to Frogapits, one being our honeymoon, so I think that says it all! The setting of the cottage is simply beautiful, with the stream running through the garden. The cottage itself is full of character, comfy and homely. We instantly relax when we arrive here. It has everything you need, complete with a wood burning stove in the sitting room and one in the kitchen. It is so close to the village centre and harbour but you would never know it! Walking to the coast path takes a few minutes and Boscastle is just beautiful. We already have another holiday booked here with more to follow. This is a beautiful place to stay and the owners are lovely! Thank you for another fantastic stay!

So loved the cottage. Full of warmth and care. Close to the harbour and all amenities. Such a wonderful relaxing weekend in a beautiful location. Sounds of the trickling stream put the final delightful icing on the cake!

Truely the greatest place we have ever stayed in.

  • 5 of 5

We spent Christmas and new year at frogapits, this was a surprise for my partner, she was elated when we arrived, and when we opened the large oak door and explored it got a lot better.

The rooms are fantastic, built properly, with thick walls and recessed Windows, no pvc rubbish, slate floors and two fantastic wood burners, set in inglnook fire places.

It was cold and damp, outside as it is at this time of year, but once the fires were lit, it transformed the place into a very warm, cosy, beautiful place, everything was provided by the owners, who even set up a Christmas tree for our arrival, prosseco and a welcome card, so thoughtful.

Outside the garden is wonderful and a stream tumbles through, which sounds great to fall asleep to.

To sum it up, I had allready booked a different cottage in boscastle for May, my partner has asked me to cancel the booking as she said, after frogapits, it would'nt be good enough !!!
