The villa was everything it claimed to be and more. The extra little touches that the family have added were perfect, the binoculars for example! The views could not have been better, and the rooms were super. We enjoyed the walk down into the village, and went every day for lovely fresh bread. Even the walk to the adjoining beach was very manageable, we usually taxied back! We rented a care for half the week, mainly so we could explore further afield, but we were equally happy with a walk to the beach and an afternoon by the pool!
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute there and would like to thank the family so much for taking such obvious care of the villa. I really agree with all the previous views that it is so very tempting to return, as I am not at all sure we will ever find such a gem that fitted our needs and wants so well! Many thanks and keep it up!
We spent 10 days at Villa Ikaros over the summer of 2015 and can say with absolute conviction that this was the best and most luxurious holiday we have had as a family.
The pictures of the views from the villa simply don't do it enough justice, it will simply take your breath away when you first round the corner to the pool.
The fact that we had such a quiet location and yet the local village, with surprisingly good restaurants, was a fairly easy walk (at least it was following a few cold beers) just sums up how perfect the setting is.
We have been all over the world and this is the only place where the possibility of a return visit has been discussed.
It's a beautiful place to stay, very private, luxurious but simple. there is loads of space to spread out and spend time on your own or to come together for a meal or drinks in 3 or 4 different areas around the villa.
Buts its the views that are breathtaking - we all loved it
I knew the location would be fantastic since I had spent 3 days using Google Maps & Earth and Street View to check whether all the Villas short listed on this web site in North West Crete which claimed to have a beautiful private location with spectacular views really were. Most didn't, this did. The Owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly, meeting us in Plaka at 11pm after a late EasyJet flight. My wife and I stayed for 10 nights and then left and had a week walking in the White Mountains. I would recommend it to our friends and family without hesitation. My problem now is to try and find something similar in Northern Spain after we walk the Picos de Europa.
We stayed here last September and as a birthday treat for my wife chose to go back again in June. This is the first time we've ever re-visited a location which says it all! The owners clearly take a great deal of pride in the property. It's private, well equipped and the views are breath taking. A great location to re-charge your energies and just chill out. Our favourite location after 20 years of holidaying!
Villa Ikaros is the most beautyful house situated in the most beautyful surroundings. Spectacular views to the bay and to the mountains. Fully equiped kitchen and very nice beds. Very clean. The terraces are just beautyful and the pool area is very nice with good sun beds, umbrella and freshwater shower. The owner is very helpful in any way and had supplied fresh fruit, bread, wine, water and other refreshments upon our arrival.
All in all we had the best holiday at villa Ikaros and hope to come back again soon.
