After spending our holidays in Foz do Arelho in 2007, we fell in love with the unspoilt beaches and real Portuguese feel of the surrounding area. The apartment is uniquely positioned to enjoy relaxing hours on the terrace, a sun trap by day and the perfect place to sit and watch the sun set in the evenings. We wanted the apartment to feel like a home from home and not just a holiday place. We have furnished throughout with good quality sofas, beds, tables and bed linen and soft furnishings to add to the comfort of our guests. Our favourite times are enjoying a BBQ and a few glasses of wine with friends on the terrace, while watching the sun go down.
The location of the apartment definitely sets it apart from most other holiday accommodation in Foz and all within a 3 minute drive, or a 10 minute walk of the lagoon.
You cannot fail to have a relaxing time in the apartment.
I have just returned from a wonderful September sunshine break in the charming little resort of Foz do Arelho on Portugal’s Silver Coast. What a stunning location this villa enjoys - set high into a lush hillside and affording the lucky residents truly spectacular views of both the Atlantic ocean and the beautiful Lagoon of Obidos ! It is a quiet and peaceful location which means you also get a great night’s sleep too. I highly recommend a stay here and can’t praise the owners highly enough for their helpfulness.
The spacious balcony with built in barbecue facilities is perfect for Al fresco dining , enjoying a relaxing glass of wine or simply admiring the varied landscape , not to mention the amazing sunsets. With a pool and tennis courts on site and the glorious and seemingly endless sandy beach only 5 minutes away by car, this really is the perfect place to enjoy your holiday.
The accommodation at this apartment is really first rate in every respect. The owners have thought of and provided, much more in the way of facilities and equipment than one might reasonably expect to find in a holiday property .Sun Loungers for the terrace, as well as beach chairs ,towels, parasol and everything you need for a long day at the beach . A range of toys, games and shelves full of CDs and books are provided in the apartment itself and we found a very helpful Guest Book offering advice on nearby places to visit as well as information on local facilities. There are some lovely places to eat in the resort if you prefer not to cook but the well equipped kitchen does make it very easy to self- cater.
The property was beautifully clean and well presented on our arrival with generous amounts of linen provided. Furnishings are modern and geared for comfort should you choose to spend your evenings indoors relaxing. With 3 bathrooms available it also means that larger groups are well catered for at all times. Foz is a really friendly unassuming little village where you get a real sense of community and the laid back portugese lifestyle. The nearby surf and sailing club is truly a little gem and we spent many an hour there enjoying the views. It offers a pleasant alternative to the main beach and serves a good range of snacks and cocktails. The exhilaration of the Atlantic rollers, the picturesque lapping waters of the Lagoon with the occasional presence of its visiting Flamingos provided the perfect setting for a truly wonderful holiday. I can’t wait to go back !
Very impressed with this accomodation - great for an extended family getaway ! Was like having two living quarters, a bonus for the in laws when the kids were up at dawn. As mentioned previously car hire is a must and getting from Lisbon is fairly easy with a Tom Tom ...highways are amazingly quiet ! The town is lovely and very authentic. The locals very helpful and chatty. A must is the Sailing Club down the hill. It's a hidden gem where the owners are so welcoming and friendly. They even made me a cake for my 40 th ! There is one restaurant I would highly recommend - it's on the corner of the Main Street. ( I forget it's name ) the cocktails are to die for and the meal was exceptional ! It gets very busy so I'd advise to book. It is a small town and quiet at times- perfect for a relaxing holiday. The view from the apartment Is amazing ! Watching the ever changing lagoon with a beer in your hand- heaven. The beds are comfortable, the seating is also comfy when you want to crawl up with a book. There is a little park there for the small kids and the pool bit cold when we went but we thoroughly enjoyed it when we braved it. ( didn't bother the kids at all ) Obidos is a must - we spent the day there and could of easily retuned. St Martin was beautiful too ! Communication with the owner ( Brenda ) was good and I appreciated all the little tips she gave to help us along. The west coast of Portugal is certainly worth a visit and I would recommend staying here to explore it.
Roomy apartment with stunning views over the lagoon and out to sea. An excellent place for a family holiday with miles of beach ,walking ,boating and fishing. Atlantic breeze good for young ones in the summer. Butchers in Foz brillant. Bakery with Nata excellent. A great stay.
We enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks in this apartment. The Apartment itself is incredibly spacious and is bigger than a lot of houses and this really added to our trip as on previous holidays we have had to use the living room as a bedroom and everything always felt overcrowded & messy but this apartment had ample space. A huge bonus for us was that beach towels were provided and there were dvds and games for the kids plus tennis equipment & facilities and not to mention the pool which feels like it is on the edge of the world with the gorgeous views. I also feel I have to mention that the beds were all very comfortable and the sheets and duvet covers all 100% cotton - After we were there a week the apartment was fully cleaned and all bed linen was changed over - this we didn't expect so it was a pleasant surprise! There is a massive balcony where you could lie out and because of the lovely light breeze from the Atlantic, it was always bearable though you could just pop out to the pool when you got too hot. As previous people mentioned the BBQ facilities were great and the sunsets stunning. We had 2 families staying down at the beach end and they all came up one evening for a bbq and there were 6 adults, 5 teenagers and 3 kids and still we didn't feel crowded!! You would definitely need the car though as to walk to the beach would take a Half hour with kids (my husband & my 7 year old tried it!) and its all up hill on the way back!
The Beach is lovely, though Atlantic too rough for the kids - we did go to San Marhino (sp!) about 15 mins north and they have a section to swim in with also paddle boats and banana boats and jet skis - all very reasonably priced. The town south of us us Caldas do Rhaina was lovely too with a little market for fruit, veg, cheese & nuts plus a gorgeous park with playground and we also discovered a ceramics factory and brought home some gorgeous portugese ceramics which is a great memory for me. Obidos is only a 15 drive also and such a stunning walled village - we popped out a few times to that. There is a little canoe rental place at the lagoon where you can rent a canoe for an hour for only €8 and they have this really laid back café where you can have food, coffee, cocktails and a really lovely buzz about it. My children are 13, 10 & 7 and they thoroughly enjoyed their holidays and will always remember swimming in the pool in the dark, watching finding Nemo endlessly, playing tennis & sunsets. We loved it
We took our two teenage daughters with their boyfriends. Had a great week.Made great use of the facilities - tennis, pool and especially BBQ. Easy access to lots to do and see with excellent local beaches and restaurants.
The beaches of Foz do Arelho are the finest on the Silver Coast, offering safe family bathing in the Lagoon as well as the more challenging waves of the Atlantic for surfers. Beautiful walks along the lagoon, the many beach bars and restaurants, shops in the typical Portuguese village of Foz are all just minutes away from the apartment. Visit the Medieval walled town of Obidos, a UNESCO world heritage site (15 mins),Sao Martinho(10 mins ),a lovely horse-shoe bay, the fishing town of Peniche(25 mins), with daily boat trips to the fortress island of Berlenga, Baleal(20 mins ) with its excellent surf school, the caves of Mira da Aire with near by water park and see the dinasaur footprints just south of the place of Pilgrimage, Fatima( 45 mins ) Caldas da Rainha offers a good selection of larger shops, as well as a daily fruit and veg market, all grown locally. A day trip to Lisbon (60 mins ) is a must. The location boasts some of the best golf courses in Portugal, e.g Praia del Rey.
