AreaThe apartment is located within Duomo district in Florence’s historic city centre. The Duomo area constitutes the very heart of Florence and the area takes its name from Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome on the wonderful Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. The Duomo neighbourhood offers an array of beautiful historical buildings and superb piazzas including the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its attractive cafes, patisserie shops, live music, street performers and caricature artists. Furthermore, the area is surrounded by the city’s main cultural attractions, notably Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Bargello Palace and Casa Buonarroti, the former home of Michelangelo, not to mention the Uffizi Gallery and the museum dedicated to the city’s cathedral 'Museo dell'Opera del Duomo'. The area also has much to offer in terms of fine dining and exclusive boutique shopping. The top Italian fashion houses are located along Via Tornabuoni, Via Calzaiuoli and Via del Corso and include the famous names of Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani, Versace, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tiffany & Co. and many more. For those choosing an apartment in this area, the Duomo quarter also offers several food stores otherwise known as 'alimentari', supermarkets, laundrettes and individual gift shops as well as being adequately served by the local public transport service.

Parking:The Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a 'limited traffic zone' and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

Ideal location in Florence

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 stayed here for our first trip to Italy and this apartment was the perfect location! Right outside of the major piazzas, within walking distance to the major sites and train station.

The unit is comfortable - the showers are a tight squeeze, but all the amenities worked. Apartment is from the medieval times but adds so much character to the space.

Central & Convenient

  • 4 of 5

Spacious, well equipped. Better instructions on using the washing machine would have been helpful. The staff were very good, took care of ordering our taxis which arrived promptly.

The beds were very comfortable and everything you have to see in Florence is within reasonable walking distance. It is best that you are prepared to bring your own sugar, spices, oil & vinegar. The stove is easy to use and there are enough pans. There is a grocery store about 30 metres from your front door, so getting your supplies home is easy. All in all, a good place for two couple or a couple with children.

Nice place, poor management

  • 3 of 5

The good, the bad and the ugly.

The good: It is a very nice apt. a bit gloomier then is represented in the photos, but it is very roomy, and it is a great location.

The bad:

1) The person that met us was pretty much in a hurry when we arrived around 6 ( we had told them our arrival time would be somewhere between 5 and 6 depending on the bus schedule accuracy) .

2) There is absolutely nothing in the kitchen area to get you started. No kitchen towel, no paper towels or anything. The bathroom was stocked with a few rolls of toilet paper.

3) The washing machine door was broken so we couldn't use and used a laundromat instead. Two days later it was fixed.

The ugly: We received an email that we would be charged to repair the door, since it had been broken previously. It took several attempts to make it clear to them, that we were not the ones that broke it in the first place. In the end they made it sound like they were doing us a favor by not charging us. Very frustrating.

Although it is a nice place and centrally located, I would not use them again. I will stick with airbnb from now on.

Nice Place, that broke down.

  • 1 of 5

Although we enjoyed our visit to Florence, we did not necessarily appreciate our accommodations.

Pros - The unit, was in a great location, it was spacious

Cons - The unit had air conditioning in the bedrooms only, so the rest of the unit was very hot and uncomfortable during our stay.

Problems - the Washing machine broke. They claim I broken it, although I have informed them it was clearly a problem with the machine being old and not well maintained. They charged me $124 for repairs, not happy about this. Also, the front door lock was broken, the door actually got jammed and we were not able to lock it, without carefully holding it together.
