This cozy apartment is located in the heart of the old town historical area of Lisbon's city center, called Alfama. This area of central Lisbon is one of the oldest, and has dozens of traditional cafés and Fado restaurants scattered about the maze of narrow, cobbled streets. From the apartment, it is just a short walk to the Portas do Sol and Santa Luzia viewpoints, which provide marvelous photo opportunities and great views of the old rooftops, and the wide estuary of the River Tagus. The São Jorge Castle and Cathedral are also within easy walking distance, as well as other notable sights such as the Fado Museum, The National Pantheon or the Feira da Ladra Flea Market held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Santa Apolonia train and metro station is also just 10 minutes walk away, and inside the station, there is a good supermarket called Pingo Doce, although there are also many smaller shops in the area. Parking is not easy here since this is the center of a large city, but just 3 minutes away there is a public carpark at the Largo das Portas do Sol, while another possibility is to use the cheaper open-air carpark near the Santa Apolonia ferry terminal, which costs around 6€ per day. Several buses and trams stop at the Portas do Sol, including the famous Number 28 Tram, which we recommend our guests take for a unique travel experience.
