A very large ten--year old villa set in it's own grounds with a private pool (serviced weekly in summer, every fortnight in winter) and fantastic panoramic views over the city and bay of Funchal. This is one of the very best positions to view the fireworks on New Year's Eve and during the Atlantic Festival in June. There is a huge living room on the ground floor, with a separate TV room featuring large flat-screen TV with cable channels . Wi-Fi is available throughout the villa. On the top floor, which spans the whole of the house, there is a large snooker/billiards table, table-tennis table and a table-football machine as well as a second TV , library and double sofa-bed.

Could be great
This property could be a great rental. Large and spacious, nice garden area by the pool and superb views over Funchal. Unfortunately there are lots of little niggles, that in themselves may be relatively minor, but taken together detract from the villa.
A few examples:
The shower heads in the upstairs bathrooms do not attach to the wall, so you need to hold the shower with one hand and wash with the other. The alternative is to use the cheap plastic cubicle downstairs, which needs regrouting. No chance of having a bath, if you were so inclined, as there are no plugs.
No washing up bowl or plug for the kitchen sink.
Poor selection of kitchen equipment - three frying pans, all of which appeared older than the house, saucepans with dangerously loose handles, no decent scissors, bottle opener etc.
Musty smelling cupboards.
No occasional tables for the outside terraces, and no plastic glasses, so drinks had to be placed directly on the ground, with the inherent danger of breakage.
No welcome pack with instructions as to how to use the TV (never could get it to work!), rubbish collection points etc.
Too many trinkets cluttering up the kitchen
One other downside, which is outside the owner's control, relates to noise - the house is situated in a residential neighbourhood, where the majority of owners keep dogs. Subsequently there is constant barking from early morning to late at night. Not ideal if you like early nights, or want a lie-in.
I do not normally givenegative reviews, as usually every property we have rented has had more positive points than negative, but unfortunately in this case, the negative far outweigh the positives.
Large villa, high up, great views
Largely as described by the owner. When we arrived it had been cleaned well and some food items were provided for us which was nice. Pool is lovely, size ok, though Maderia gets mixed weather and it was on the cooler side for our stay - the island, as per it's reputation is truly beatiful - in part reflecting the climate. All appliances worked well and were in good order, the TV is not great and you can't watch much as there is no satellite subscription. Although thus is a very nice property there is a bit of damp that probably needs some maintenance , not uncommon probably in Maderia given the terrain building into the slopes and the climate. The kitchen equipment, cutlery cups, glasses etc are in a poor state, we had to purchase a few items that we left in order to cater - the owner really needs to go right through the kitchen and replace. There is a lot of useless and old junk in the kitchen draws and cupboards. A new ironing board is a must please. Elsewhere in the house, the decor also includes a fair bit of junk that the property would be much better without. A new parasol is needed for the pool patio, the existing one being decrepit. To close, the games room is fabulous - many thanks.
Stunning villa with stunning views
Worth being away from it all a little just to experience the fantastic views over Funchal and the bay beyond. None of the photos we had seen really do the views justice.
The villa itself is spacious, as you would expect in this price range. There was everything we needed for a large self-catering party and the games room was a great diversion of an evening. The pool was very clean and well maintained and the BBQ a good feature. Everything was a per the description and a car was necessary. Highly recommended all round.
Delighted you enjoyed your stay. The views are panoramic to say the least!
We all loved this villa. One of the best we have stayed in, although you did need a car - but we anticipated this no problem. Its location gives fantastic views over the whole city and the bay. Games room proved popular with the youngsters. Spotlessly presented and a poolman attended during our stay. We will return.
It is in a quiet area, so we always recommend that people hire a car (we can recommend a reputable hire company). The view from the villa and the pool is amazing, and the games room appears very popular with those bringing children. We are delighted you enjoyed you stay and look forward to seeing you again.
Spacious with great views
Very, very large villa with lots of space both inside and out. Generous pool with panoramic views over Funchal. A car is a must here - Funchal is about ten minutes drive and the motorway five minutes. Great feature is the games room on the top floor which kept the adults as well as children entertained. All the facilities you need, and the advert was entirely accurate. Recommended.
Thanks for the positive feedback. The games room is very popular.
