Comfort in the heart of Old Town Hastings

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

7A Courthouse Street is just off the Old Town High Street, in the heart of this lovely part of Hastings, in a quiet street. You can be in George Street in a couple of minutes and on the beach in less than five. If you want to relax or explore it is the perfect place. The house was built around 1840. We do all we can to make sure that you will have a fantastic time in our amazing town.

The kitchen is ideal for a dinner party for the guests, if you fancy a night away from the restaurants of The Old Town, or you could bring back some excellent fresh fish and chips. There is a dishwasher too. We don't have a microwave but there is everything else you could want. We are always open to ideas so let us know if there is anything we could add for future guests (or your next visit).

There is a Nespresso machine with a milk frother, in addition to the cafetiere. I will try to supply some capsules but feel free to bring some too. There is a bag for recycling capsules.

Our open plan living room has a lovely large corner sofa plus a wood burner if the temperature drops.

The master bedroom has a super kingsize (6') bed which is very comfortable. The double bedroom has a cosy double bed. If there are more than 4 guests (or 2 don't want to share a double) we can supply Aerobeds - these are "divan" beds so are raised, comfortable and go up in a couple of minutes. All beds, including the Aeobeds, have Egyptian cotton sheets and luxurious duvets (no need to bring bedding!). I can supply a travel cot (just bring your bedding) and a high chair on request.

When you need a break from exploring, the house has fast wifi throughout plus a large Samsung TV with Now TV and BT TV. There is also a Blu Ray DVD player with a selection of DVDs in the right side of the TV unit. There is a CD player which you can connect your iPhone/iPod/iPad to or listen to one of the hundreds of CDs stored in the TV unit. You can also access Netflix via the BT box. Bring a games console and plug it in if you need to.

The bathroom has a large shower cubicle (replacing the previous bath which caused guests all sorts of issues!). Towels are supplied for all guests, of course (people seem to like my towels!)

There is a washing machine, if you need a dryer there is a lovely laundrette about 30 seconds away on the Old Town High Street (you could watch your machine from The Jenny Lind!)

There is free parking about a 10 minute walk away or car parks close by either in The Bourne (a 5 minute walk) or on the sea front (payment by RingGo app is the best option). Courthouse Street is a pedestrian zone so you can unload at the house and then park up.

Guests have full access to the whole house except the upper bedrooms which will be closed off. There are a couple of areas marked private eg part of a wardrobe in the main bedroom and a cupboard in the kitchen.

If possible we will try to meet guests but we may be away from Hastings at the time. If we are away I can leave a key in the key safe to the left of the front door.

I am more than happy to recommend restaurants or things to do.

The Old Town is full of vintage and unique shops which is why we fell in love with Hastings. The neighbours and locals are very friendly so don't be surprised if people stop and talk to you! Courthouse Street has several shops including an incredible antiques yard. I find new things every time I go out in the Old Town, it is constantly changing (for the better!)

Hastings has a pebble beach except when the tide is out, then you get lovely sand to walk on. It's worth getting the Tide Times app to check on times.

Courthouse Street is in between Hastings and Ore stations - a mile from each so either a 20 minute walk or a short cab ride. Hastings has a very good bus service or you can hire bikes (near the Crazy Golf course).

We welcome children but please note that we are unable to block off the spiral staircase and ladder to the upper floor (which is not rented out) so supervision of small children will be required. We can supply a travel cot and a high chair (please ask).

Clean and comfortable in a great location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with my brother and his wife booked this lovely cottage to explore Hastings for the weekend. Sally was so helpful from the very beginning with clear directions to find the property and helpful hints to enjoy our stay. She was unable to meet us when we arrived but kindly provided milk and goodies for us to enjoy.

The cottage was lovely. Clean and spacious with all the comforts of home. The location was perfect right in the heart of the Old Town so we could explore its' many charms.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to book another stay at some point in the future. In fact another of my brothers joined us for drinks on the Saturday night and was so impressed he is looking to book the property for a weekend away very soon

Beautiful home, really comfortable beds. Located in the best area of Hastings. We will be back!!

We went to Hastings last weekend and had a wonderful time. This house is amazing and beautiful. It was also spotlessly clean and the location is ideal, you don’t need to drive anywhere, everything you need is walking distance. There is no other property I would choose if you are visiting Hastings!!

What a gem in Old Hastings.

  • 5 of 5

7A Courthouse is a little gem. It is in the heart of Old Hastings Town but tucked away so there is very little noise. This was especially welcome as the May Bank Holiday celebrations happening in the Town could have been disruptive. The house itself is old and beautiful, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend this property.

Wonderful weekend. Beautiful home.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely apartment for the weekend & already cannot wait to go back again. It is stunning & full of character. The location is perfect for a stroll through the old town & only a short walk to the beach. Plenty of places to eat or have a drink. We felt at home in the apartment & Sally the owner is great. She provided a travel cot for my young son & coffee, milk etc. 5 star stay.

What a Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

The owners responded quickly to our questions. They were warm and welcoming and were flexible enough to accommodate our travel schedule. We especially appreciated that they honored our wish to use scent-free cleaning and laundry products. (Nothing is more discouraging than to enter a vacation rental that smells like the stinky perfume section of a department store.) The apartment was clean and full of old-world charm with tutor beams and hardwood floors. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything necessary to entertain friends including a fancy stove (cooker) and a large wooden table. Tenants have control of the heating through a Hive thermostat and the wi-fi is exceptionally fast.

Hastings has much to offer. Judges Bakery is just around the corner (great croissant and rye bread) and Webb's restaurant (great fish dishes) is just a few blocks away not to mention the numerous pubs, shops and restaurants in the area. The town of Battle is a 10-minute train ride away where there is a fantastic outdoor museum. There you can walk through the fields where the battle of Hastings was fought in 1066. Of course, Hastings is right on the sea, so you can walk along the pebbly beach which is just a few minutes walk from the apartment.

In general, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment.

Owner's Response: Don, thanks so much for your kind words and for keeping the house in a tidy condition (not easy after a week's stay). You're always welcome. Sally :)
