A happy holiday.
We were met by the owner Pam and enjoyed chatting with her. The cottage was perfect for 2, with thoughtful and homely touches such as plenty of pictures, floral arrangements etc and a Welcome tray plus a bottle of wine. Everything was in good taste, including 2 comfortable sofas with cushions and in a large and pretty bedroom was a very comfortable bed plus attractive furniture. Parking behind the cottage was easy and led to the side door into the well-stocked kitchen, so there was no need to use the steps in the photograph.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in The Old Coach House. You too were perfect guests and it was a pleasure to meet you both.
It is always appreciated when guests express positively about the different aspects of the cottage which they have found have enhanced their stay, as we do try hard to make it a real ‘home from home’ experience.

Very cosy cottage and fully equipped with everything needed for a very pleasant stay. We had a really lovely holiday in Burythorpe and Pam and Richard were very welcoming hosts. Would stay there again.
So pleased that you had a lovely time whilst staying in this part of Yorkshire. You certainly fitted in a lot during your time here and of course the wonderful weather helped! Looking forward to welcoming you both again in the future.
Beautiful cottage in perfect location
Loved the cottage. Everything was as we expected, peaceful location with everything we needed. The cottage was very well maintained and the owners who lived next door were excellent hosts who gave perfect service. I would recommend the cottage . The pub just across the road was perfect too.
Ideal location, Kitchen too small to cook a real meal, 2 bathrooms in ad, 1 v small shower room only
Delightful location, and loved being in this part of Yorkshire. But won't return to the cottage as it is a lot smaller than advertised, the kitchen is only big enough for one person, microwave door opens onto hotplate of cooker, which showed signs it had happened to others. Fortunately really good pubs to eat in locally. Two bathrooms advertised but none provided, only a very small shower room which of course had the only toilet as well. So again only one person could use at a time. Fortunately these things didn't spoil our break. It's just disappointing when you are expecting something better for the price.
Our sincere apologies for the incorrect information on the website regarding the bathroom(s). This error is historical due to a mistake on Owner's Direct part which I had previously spoken to them about in the past. It has now finally been rectified and now reads correctly so thank you for bringing it to our attention.
We are disappointed that you felt that the cottage was 'a lot smaller than advertised and that the kitchen was only big enough for one person". We have owned the cottage for 10 years and within that time no-one has ever commented that the cottage was smaller than expected. On the contrary we have had couples stay for two, three and four weeks at a time and we are regularly booked over Christmas and New Year when a full roast dinner is prepared and cooked.
We have many couples who return every year and the comments in the Visitors Book are highly complimentary - 'kitchen well-equipped', 'the cottage has everything you could wish for and more','fantastic cosy cottage for two', 'a great place to come back to after a day out', 'a real home from home'.
We also regularly review the market pricing for similar dwellings and we believe our prices are very competitive.
Again we can only apologise that it did not reach your expectations but are pleased to read that you found the location delightful and that you loved being in this part of Yorkshire.
A charming and cosy cottage just right for two.
We had a very comfortable weekend in Burythorpe. The cottage is ideally situated for walks exploring the beautiful local countryside and the inviting pub directly opposite was an added bonus. Pam, the owner, was very helpful and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.
The east coast beaches are a 30 minute drive.
The cottage is in the centre of the peaceful village of Burythorpe, and four miles from the thriving market town of Malton.
Nestling in the pretty village of Burythorpe on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds and ideally located for the North Yorkshire Moors, this Grade II listed detached former Coach House has been sympathetically converted and now offers lovely accommodation in a peaceful environment. This charming cottage is very well presented and tastefully furnished to a high standard, making a cosy retreat for couples. Walks start from the door along designated footpaths with the Wolds Way, Centenary Way and Tabular Way near by. Dalby Forest on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park offers amazing Cycle Trails to suit all abilities as well as walks throughout the forest area. We are also located only a few miles from where world renowned artist David Hockney produced his vivid pictures of the Yorkshire landscape for his 'A Bigger Picture ' exhibition at the Royal Academy'. The World of James Herriot is also situated near Thirsk which is only a 40 minute drive from the village.
For those visitors interested in wine, why not visit Britain's most northerly commercial vineyard only 2 miles from the cottage, where award winning wines can be purchased.
Malton has been named the 'county's culinary capital' after the success of the fifth annual Malton Food Lovers Festival. Why not book a week in May 2018 to coincide with the next festival and see celebrity chefs in action!
