Stunnibg Character 16th Century Farmhouse On 2 Acres Of Mature Gardens

Located 3km from the stunning village of Bourdeilles, 10min drive from Brantome, the "Venice of the Perigord" and 15min from Perigueux, La Guibaudie is a little bit of French heaven. Dating from 1600 this historic house is fully modernized and was renovated in 2000. The antique filled interior has unique character and luxury furnishings. The gardens are mature with plum and nut trees. The large private heated pool is not shared or overlooked and an outdoor music system plays music around the pool.

Notes on accommodation: Welcome food pack provided on arrival - basics tea coffee milk bread wine etc All beds are (UK) king or queen size doubles. All bedrooms have ceiling fans above the bed for cooling at night but because the walls are thick stone the bedrooms do remain quite cool in summer One bedroom can only be accessed by walking through another. All stairs have stair gates for small children, all upstairs windows have chains to restrict opening for children's safety. Large selection of toys for under 6's left in games room. Outside: 13m x 7.5m kidney shaped ,fenced, private ,heated pool. Half its length approx 1.1m deep and other half gradual drop to 2.2m deep. Pool patio is surrounded by planting with music speaker, solar heated shower, 6 loungers, umbrellas, table and chairs. Second large partially covered patio at back of house with 10 seat dining table. 3 hammocks throughout the gardens. Table tennis table, badminton set. Childrens playhouse with slide & swing. Rotating clothes line. Pool is private (not shared). Pool area and rear of house not overlooked, very private. At the front of the house you can glimpse a small amount of one other house (100m away) through trees but front also still very private. Uninterrupted views of rolling hills and forest from rear of house. Utility Room: Brushes and cleaning products available Garbage bags provided for recycling Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels (not pool towels) included Linen included beds made up on arrival Other: Dining room off kitchen with terracotta tiled floor, huge period fireplace, 10 seat table, exposed stone walls and ceiling beams, cd player with speakers internal and external (around the pool and barbecue)

Superb house with great character. Stayed as 2 families loads of space indoor and outdoor. Great very large heated pool and gardens very safe. Caretaker was really nice and very helpful. We really had a lovely stay there in such a beautiful countryside. The nearby Chateau was a real bonus

Beautiful House

Beautiful house with lots of character. The cleanest house in which we have stayed in over 15 years of renting French property. The pool and gardens were lovely and really well kept - perfect for our small grandchildren who had a great time in safe freedom. They particularly loved the music around the pool. The quality of the beds and bedding was superb, again something with which we have had poor past experiences. The ceiling fans were a great addition. All in all a truly lovely experience. Aidan was a pleasure to deal with and it was a very easy transaction. I would totally recommend.

Perfect for Us

The farmhouse matched its description in every way. Spotlessly clean on arrival, well equipped and comfortable, the property was perfect for our group of 10 which included grandparents, parents and four children under three. The location is beautiful and close to many picturesque towns and villages with a very good choice of places to eat out. Two weeks of warm sunshine were the icing on the cake.

Property is bounded by the walking route GR36 (Grand Randonnee 36) - this is the original "Pilgrim Route" which starts in Northern Europe and continues through France to Northern Spain and finishes in Santiago de Compostella, in Galicia Spain

A wide variety of wildlife particularly birdlife, deer and wild boar abound in the forests and surrounding countryside.


Coast is a 2hr drive. In summer a river beach is created at Lisle 3km from the property with sand, safe bathing and slides into to the river.

Babysitting available - our caretaker lives 5min away. Small ,local shops including artisan bakery and selection of fantastic restaurants at 3km.

10min walk to stunning 16th Century Chateau de la Cote restaurant (see photo). Weekly markets in several local villages. Banks and large supermarkets in Brantome & Perigueux. Canoeing on the river Dronne in Bourdeilles and many other villages around. Horse riding 5min away. Tennis in Bourdeilles/Brantome/Lisle. River beach and swimming at Lisle (3km). Large water park in Perigueux. Zip wire forest activity 45min away. Go Kart grand prix course 30min away, ear Nontron. For Wifi we recommend you buy call roaming from your mobile provider before your trip and the Wifi should cost around £1.60 per day approximately for normal use in France.
