Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday chalet in Monte Isola - 'La Stallina' - Monte Isola

2 bedrooms - 4/6 people - private garden and terrace directly by the lake

Monte Isola is the biggest island of the European lakes and it is situated in the centre of the lake Iseo.

La Stallina is a chalet with three apartments, each with private and separated entrance and terrace.

It is a typical rural house recently renovated reachable by boat (taxi) at the private wharf or by public ferry boat and then on foot (100 metres uphill, with 50 steps on a path).

The apartment at the ground floor and the one at the first floor can host 4/6 people and are composed of spaciuos living room with sofa bed, double bedroom, a room with bunk bed or three beds, a bathroom and a private terrace.

The attic can host 4 people and is composed of a living room with sofa bed, kitchenette, double bedroom, bathroom and private terrace.

The huge garden by the lake is available to guests, and grants private access to the lake (different from the wharf where you arrive by taxi boat).

La Stallina is an evocative house, ideal for those who prefer relax, walking in the nature and hiking.

You have to consider that the accomodation is only reachable on foot, and guests have to walk along a private path uphill (with steps).

The main village is at walking distance (10-15 minutes through the woods). There you can find everything you need for the shopping, and home delivery is commonly available for free; in the centre there is also a bus stop for a tour of the island.

The pubblic ferry boat stop is just 300 metres away from the house (plan path, tickets sold onboard): from there you can reach Sulzano or have a tour around the island.

The house is also equipped with some bikes, available for guest.

IMPORTANT:

In June for "The Floating Piers" event daily price includes final cleaning, sheets and towels.

You can book from Sulzano to the Stallina's private wharf the direct transfer at the price of € 50 each way or you can take the public ferry from Sulzano to Siviano.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Lori and I absolutely loved our stay at this little chalet. This place is the perfect vacation spot for someone looking for peace and quiet and a real Italian experience. The apartment is nicely appointed, clean, well maintained - and has the most beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding mountains from a wall of windows that span from the bedroom to the living area.

The craftmanship of the building is remarkable; the bed large and very comfortable. It has a couch that converts to a bed in the living area and a dining table that seats four. It has a small kitchen with an excellent gas cooktop and a convection oven that makes cooking a delight. The bathroom has a large shower, toilet and bidet and everything looks new and operates flawlessly.

It is situated on an estate that's a ten minute walk to Porto Siviano and the ferries that run regularly to other cities on the island and to the cities on the mainland. The Canogola Restaurant is on the pathway to the port and has some of the finest food on the island. The main town of Siviano is a healthy uphill hike from the port, but has two grocery stores, a couple of bars and a pizzeria with excellent food as well as a butcher and a few small shops.

The owners and the managers of the property are friendly, helpful and a delight to deal with. This is a top-floor apartment, and it is situated about 50 steps up from the main pathway, so it is not appropriate for people with limited mobility or handicaps that would prevent them from walking up a long flight of steps.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway and enjoy walking, you won't find a better place to stay than this little gem. We are already planning a return visit in two years.

A wonderful week on Lake Iseo

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful relaxing week staying on Monte Isola on Lake Iseo. Our two children (age 5 years and 3 years) enjoyed swimming in the lake and taking the ferry boats and bus to different villages on the island. The apartment was lovely with fantastic views and we enjoyed our evening meals sitting on the terrace looking over the lake. A very relaxing week. Look forward to visiting again.

Great Place on Island

  • 5 of 5

The owner were extremely supportive prior to and during our stay, if we had any questions. Especially with our daughter getting fever during our stay. We felt really welcome, and the appartment in itself was very neat, clean and perfectly equipped. The house is situated in a very quiet location on spacy piece of land and with an excellent view across the lake and into the alpine mountains. It is very close to the ferry. Great if you like the island feeling, but you have to be ready for walking up and down some beautiful steps, paths and narrow streets. The paved paths and streets without any cars, makes this place special.

Both house and island is highly recommended! We will come back! Thanks for the Saturday evening wellcome!!!

Wonderfull and quiet

First of all, the owner Flavia and her husband, were extremely supportive prior to and during our stay, if we had any questions. We felt really welcome, and the appartment in itself was very nice. The house is situated in a very quiet location, but with an excellent view. It is very close to the ferry, but you have to be ready for walking up and down both steps, paths and narrow streets. The paved paths and streets without any cars, is what makes this place special.

Recreative holidays on Monteisola

  • 5 of 5

The appartment is very beautiful and clean. All necessaries are present, even a washing machine is present.

It is the absolute perfect place in order to get quiet, recreative and romatic holidays. Reasons for that are the huge property with its olive grove and the next street is far away. Sitting on the terrace with a glas of wine in the hand about 30 meters above the sea, looking to the sea and the mountains behind gives a great feeling.

For swimming in the sea it is highly recommended to use swimming shoes or Flip-Flops because of there are a lot of sharp-edged small shells.

Most of the people on the island are just speaking italian. But this not really a problem, I got nevertheless all what I want.

To have a mountain bike is useful, because of the island offers a few nice trails (partly steep and rocky). Further possibilities to use the bike is to circle the sea (about 65 km - to check before if the bikeway at Vello is open makes sense because of in case of it is closed a 3 km long dark car tunnel has to be used instead of which is not without risk without lamps!). Most impressive is the street close to Catro. Very nice is also the route from Paratico in direction to Brescia through the natural park southern of the sea. This route is very well marked and easy to find.

For reaching the mainland the public ferries can be used which operates frequently until end of August. From September on it makes sense to have a ferry schedule.

Excursions to Iseo and Pisogne are recommended.

Last but not least the charmant local contact person before the holidays and the perfect house introduction was a pre-condition for perfect holidays.

Romantic Holiday

  • 4 of 5

The piano terra appartment we rented in Siviano is situated very nicely in the green of a olive plantage at the west side of Montisola. The plantage had green borders flowering with season flowers, ending in small rocky beach that enables to swim or get in your canoe.

All we heared were the birds and the bees and very far away the boat going up and down the lake. The appartment has been reconstructed and was well furnished. The washing machine (both, for clothes and one for the dishes) completed the luxury. The climbing every morning to town for fresh bread and a espresso was good exercise, as well as the beautifull walks we made on the island. We went out to the pizzeria in Siviano several times, nice people cooking traditional italian quite oké. The supermarket has a variated range of products. We cooked several times at the appartment to enjoy the beautiful sight from the terras and the sunset. Our agent was very friendly and helpfull. We enjoyed our stay very much and we think we will be coming back for another holiday. The owner of the appartment invited us for a drink and we had a nice evening talking with him and his wife about the life in this region of Italy. Very friendly people, we closed them in our hearts just as Montisola.

MONTE ISOLA: IDEAS FOR THE HOLIDAY

Monte Isola is the biggest island of the European lakes and it is situated in the centre of the lake Iseo.

“..like a mountain in the centre of the lake..” as it was described through the properties of the Serenissima Republic of Venice.

On the island is forbidden to take or use cars.

The streets which link the villages on the island are passable by bicycles, which can be rented in Peschiera Maraglio, Sensole or Carzano, or taken to the island through ferry boats (not on Sundays between April and September). In fact there are a lot of itineraries which can be followed by bicycle and/or on foot.

The most followed itinerary is the tour of the island (9 km – easy). There is an another one, more difficult but also more panoramic, which goes up to the santuary of Madonna della Ceriola (tour of the island and climb to the santuary: 15 km).

All the Monte Isola villages must be discovered for their particularities and for monuments to visit;

- Siviano, the main village, for its historic buildings;

- Peschiera and the villages by the lake for the narrow connection with the lake and the fishermen activities: boats and nets;

- Senzano, Cure e Masse for their rural and agricultural characteristics

Monte Isola has been selected as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy (club “Borghi più belli d’Italia) thanks to the capacity to keep intact all those characteristics, to the beauty of the landscape and to the manteinance of traditions.

On the island there are a lot of free beaches where you can have baths: some of them, like the “Ere” and the Carzano beach, are equipped with pic-nic areas.
