About Debbie Henchoz
I own both Lower Porthmawr and the Roost in Pembrokeshire which offer amazing coastal scenery and walking, relaxation and serenity, plus many adventure sports. Please explore the site and choose which you would prefer I look forward to hearing from you Debbie
Debbie Henchoz purchased this Barn in 1999
Why Debbie Henchoz chose Saint David's
The cottages are situated in one of the most amazing locations. They are in South Wales, 1 mile from St Davids, the smallest city in Wales, which has a beautiful cathedral and an assortment of restaurants, cafes and craft shops. However, the highlight of the location is that the cottages sit high on a hill looking directly over the Irish sea and across to Ramsey Island. The whole area, which includes the Pembrokeshire Coastal path - 180 miles - is a national park and therefore pristine. Whitesands Beach, beautiful in it's own right but also delightful for families with it's many rock pools, is also a haven for surfers and swimmers. The coast is home to many seals and the nearby Ramsey Sound hosts porpoise and an abundance of sea life.
What makes this Barn unique
The cottages are only a 5 minute walk from Whitesands Beach and the coastal path and only a 15 minute walk to an isolated beach inaccessible by car. The views from the coastal path are incredible, whichever direction you walk in. The cottages have a variety of maps and guide books to help you find your way around. We do take dogs on request and the surrounding area is ideal for them. When guests have discovered Lower Porthmawr and The Roost, they return time and time again. Try it for yourself and you will see why.

The Roost was in a lovely peaceful location with beautiful views from the upstairs sitting room. Beds were comfortable, the bathroom very good and the kitchen good. The coastal path was a short walk away and we enjoyed miles of walking throughout our stay. Our only disappointment was the absence of WIFI. We understood from the website that WIFI was available, however after our booking the owners notes stated that it could be intermittent but we were not able to access the internet once during our weeks stay!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Pembrokeshire and really hope to return for another stay at The Roost.
We had such a lovely time staying at the roost. It’s in the perfect location and is super comfortable and has everything you need. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom and kitchen! And the lovely fire! Especially with the wild weather! We had a power cut on the last day and Gill and her son were straight on it trying to sort it out and also just really lovely and friendly! Thanks for a brilliant stay! :-) it was even better than the pictures!
Wonderful location and a lovely well-equipped cottage.
The location of the cottage is delightful- within very easy walk to the excellent beach at Whitesands, very close to magnificent coastal paths and just over 2 miles from the lovely city of St David’s. Walking, cycling, surfing and a host of other activities are all very easily accessible in this beautiful part of the world.
The cottage is warm, welcoming, well-equipped and very comfortable.
Our stay, this February, was like a little slice of heaven- perfect.
The Roost was everything we expected and a lot more. It was very comfortable and really cosy when we had the log burner going. A superb position above the beach with great walks from the doorstep. We will return!
