Our favourite places to visit are the many beaches. castles and gardens, Alnwick, Holy Island, Craster, Alnmouth. Dunstanborough, There are plenty of lovely little shops, restaurants real ale pubs and cosy coffee shops in the surrounding towns and villages..
Janet Ashworth purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Janet Ashworth chose Alnwick
The cottage is central in Alnwick with lots of cafe's and restaurants nearby and plenty of shops and places to visit. We try to keep Puddleduck cottage cosy and welcoming for our guests to enjoy. We also have a great cleaner called Joyce who lives just round the corner from the cottage.

Myself, my partner & 11 year old son spent 4 lovely nights at Puddleduck. The location was perfect and the cottage was just fabulous, a true home from home, Janet & Neil have literally thought of everything. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome basket of wine, juice & cookies with a pint of milk in the fridge - the kitchen was well stocked with anything you could possibly need. There are 2 great Italian restaurants within 5 min walk, to the bottom of the street, 1 left and 1 right. Alnwick Castle & Gardens well worth a visit as is Holy Island, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnmouth....the list is endless.
Would we recommend Puddleduck........definitely!
Would we return to Puddleduck.......most certainly!
Thank you Janet & Neil, we had an amazing break xx
Thank you for your wonderful review. We are so pleased you had such a wonderful time exploring Northumberland. We love all the places you visited along with the Italian restaurants. We would love to welcome you back to Puddleduck in the future.
Janet and Neil
Lovely comfortable property, good location, well equipped. There is so much to do and see in the Alnwick area that we didn't have time for. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful cottage, great location - Puddleduck sets the standard!
We stayed 3 nights at Puddleduck Cottage and wished it would have been more! The property was spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated and felt like a real 'home from home'. Everything you could need for a short break was there including a welcome basket of wine, juice & chocolates and a pint of milk in the fridge, a delightful touch. The kitchen was well equipped, the towels fluffy and water piping hot, the bed linen fresh and the beds super comfortable. Most importantly for my 8 year old boy... the wi-fi was great too! Sadly the weather was too good to make use of the wood burner which looked as if it would have made the cottage a really cosy place to be in Winter. The cottage is perfectly placed being less than a 10 minute walk to Alnwick's centre, restaurants, shops and bars, the fabulous Barter Books and Alnwick Castle. Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and the beautiful beaches of Northumberland are all within a 30 minute scenic drive. Cottage owner Janet provided great responsive communication and clear instructions to get us there and access the property. There's no parking outside the property but it's ok to load and unload and there's free parking at the rear, Janet also provided a parking disc allowing parking in the town centre and for the castle. We had a great time in Northumberland and to return each day from some pretty exhausting activities including coasteering, wild swimming and meeting Dumbledore and Harry Potter at the castle with hundreds of besotted kids, we found Puddleduck Cottage the perfect place to chill out and relax. We will be back!
Beautiful and well presented
Had a great stay, property really well presented and lovely welcome pack. Hassle free booking, would love to stay here again.
We have stayed in cottages before, but Puddleduck takes the prize. It is very well situated near the High Street which makes it very easy to access the shops and eateries of all kinds. The kitchen is well equipped and all the home comforts you can think of are provided. Thanks to Neil and Janet for going to so much trouble to make this an extra special place to stay when visiting this lovely part of the world.
Thank you so much for the lovely review, we really appreciate your feedback and hope you will visit Puddleduck again in the future. Kindest Regards Janet and Neil.
Great little cottage
The accommodation was clean, comfy and very well equipped. Northumbria has so much to offer, even when the weather isn't at its best, and Puddleduck Cottage made a lovely base to come home to. The only down side is that it is on a busy road and the bedrooms are on the street side so it was noisy with the window open at night. The little garden was lovely, and the welcome package, including wine, was a super touch.
Thank you for your kind review and comments. We love Northumberland and visit as often as we can. We hope you will visit us again in the future. Best Wishes Neil and Janet.
