About the property

Cottage in Strone Road, Newtonmore, Scottish Highlands, Scotland - Peaceful Location 15 Mins Walk From The Village

The main thing our guests comment on is the views of the Cairngorm mountains, which can be seen from the cottage and garden. We are located above the village so these can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. In the foreground are sheep and lambs, as we are in a crofting area, together with lapwings, curlews, oyster catchers and hares. But also our guests also find the cottages well equipped, warm and comfortable, which is reflected in our 2015 3* rating. The majority of our guests come to walk or bike, which can be done from the door. The Newtonmore wildcat trail is only 200m from the house. And there is an unlimited number of local walks and rides.

About anne bridgen

My husband and I (Anne) are keen mountaineers and mountain bikers and I love skiing so we can give you lots of information about these pastimes. We also enjoy the arts, both painting and photography. I also run fused glass courses at my studio in the village (at additional cost). We can therefore advise on suitable photography or sketching locations as well as on local art exhibitions.

Why anne bridgen chose Newtonmore

We moved to the area with my husband's job and have been running the cottages since then. We have been asking for feedback so are now confident we are offering the service our guests expect! As we live adjacent to the cottages we can offer advice on activities or deal with any queries you may have while you are there.

We cater primarily for couples and small groups who like walking and who come with pets.

What makes this cottage unique

We have never lived anywhere where we feel so in touch with nature. Although only 0.5 mile from the village it is several hundred feet higher up and is a world apart -really quiet, peaceful and remote feeling. Hares come up to the back door and we sometimes even have eages flying overhead. Some people even come to view the stars and, if you ask us nicely, we might let you look through our telescope!

Notes on accommodation: We also take long or short breaks. Outside: There is a shared garden with offstreet parking. The garden gives unlimited views of the Cairngorm range. The cottage is set in a crofting area so the nearest neighbours are usually sheep, with lapwings and oystercatchers flying overhead. Currently (Jan 2015) there are two Shetland ponies next door!
