Welcome to Croftgarrow Steading, our very special holiday home forming part of a pretty farm conversion, sitting in a quiet spot opposite the River Lyon, near the village of Fortingall in rural Perthshire. An ancient stone steading, painstakingly converted with no expense spared, our aim is for our guests to feel special and rather spoilt from the moment they arrive. The property benefits from all the amenities you would expect of a modern house but through the use of high quality natural materials, retains the charm of a stone farm building. The property is spacious and beautifully designed but is extremely cosy and relaxing at the same time.
One of Croftgarrow Steading's main features is a very large open plan living area containing the well equipped farmhouse kitchen, dining area and plenty of seating. The underfloor heating provides a lovely ambient warmth which can be enhanced with the four-sided central woodburner which forms the centre piece to the living space. With the exception of one bathroom, each room has BOSE surround sound to allow you to create just the right mood for your holiday.
The two bathrooms have separate shower cubicles and baths, and are tiled in natural stone with marble surfaces. Fluffy towels and bathrobes with complimentary toiletries are left for our guests comfort.
Because of its thoughtful design, we find Croftgarrow works well for both romantic retreats and lovely family holidays.
The property sits in around 0.5 acre of private land, mostly laid to lawn. Double glass doors to the east and another set to the south lead out to the private garden via a lovely furnished verandah. The landscaped gravel courtyard contains the hot tub, garden furniture, barbeque and log store. The backdrop to the garden is open fields and hills with wonderful views wherever you look. Directly opposite Croftgarrow is the River Lyon with fishing permits available. Just a mile away is Loch Tay, with lots of water sports available such as kayaking, canoeing and boating. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking and biking. The Fortingall Hotel is a short walk and provides exellent bar or restaurant food and has a fun music night on a Friday.
The local market town of Aberfeldy is a short drive away and has lots of amenities such as a swimming pool, tennis courts, white water rafting, miniture golf, golf, cinema and award winning bookshop.
The area has so much to offer, I can't recommend it enough. We regularly go to Croftgarrow ourselves with our 2 teenage children and we never run out of things to do, no matter what the weather is like!
