Villa in Benidoleig, Near Denia & Javea on the Costa Blanca, Spain - Peaceful Location With Total Privacy

"Atalaya del Sol" (The Sun's Watchtower) is set in one of the most idyllic locations in this part of Spain with perhaps the most spectacular views in the region. The villa is a real home having been the full-time home of the owner for over 20 years. There are many terraces to enjoy the sun or shade at any time of day and all are shielded from prying eyes. It is built on one level with just 4 stairs separating the living from the sleeping areas, 3/4 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) If you wish to use all four bedrooms it is necessary to pass through a single bedroom which is an ante room to the master bedroom. Externally there are numerous terraces both covered & open & a fabulous 10m x 5m easily accessed private pool with breathtaking views across the Segaria mountain range to Denia and the Las Marinas coastline. Views from the sun room and front terraces extend through 270º (the other 90º you can see if you pop out to the barbecue area at the back) and they vary in every direction. There is large flat screen satellite TV (free view or bring your sky card) and high speed WiFi internet plus a telephone that's free to use. Air-conditioning (bedrooms, lounge & sun room) heating, fireplace, dishwasher etc.

We have made every effort to make the villa as comfortable as possible and hope we have thought of most things if not everything. We do provide baby facilities such as high chair and cot etc. basic toiletries including hair dryer, a very well equipped kitchen with cleaning products and the like.

If we don't have it there already, we are always happy to try our best to provide it; just ask.

About Carl

My son, Carl, now looks after the villa and I now live with him and my daughter-in-law nearby, but I moved to Spain with my husband in 1988 when we bought Atalaya del Sol. After a couple of months of hard work and preparation we were able to move in and loved living there for over 20 years. My husband has passed away and I'm not sufficiently fit to be able to live alone there.

We’ve always loved the villa for its special location, the fantastic views (totally captivating both day and night) and for its total privacy. Over the years we’ve made changes adding a terrace here and a bedroom there etc. and it’s been one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting let alone living in.

Why Carl chose Benidoleig

When you see the villa the answer to this will be absolutely clear. Finding a beautiful villa on a flat(ish) plot with stunning views which is not overlooked is a very tricky feat. If you want the possibility of walking to the village and don't want to drive up miles of winding roads it's even harder. When you manage to get one, you don’t let it go. We'd always wanted a home with a view of the sea and where better than where there are over 300 days of sunshine per year, country walks on your door step and stunning sandy beaches that stretch for miles within easy reach. When you fancy a bite out, a typical 'menu del día' (lunchtime 3 course meal with wine) is still typically under 10€. Mountains, beaches, culture, good food, peace and quiet and privacy; what more can you ask for?

It is clear that many of our guests agree with us as we are fortunate to have the chance to welcome them back again and again.

What makes this villa unique

The views in every direction are awe inspiring and they really are 360 degrees. The desire to enjoy the outdoor life has inspired the design of this villa with terraces on all sides and the opportunity to seek or hide from the sun at any time of day whilst enjoying our privacy which has always been of primary importance to us. We could watch the world go by from our own little haven. The villa is very comfortable with all modern amenities, including satellite television, a free to use telephone and high speed WiFi and it's always been nice to feel that the pool is safely, but unobtrusively, fenced for when my grandchildren and my great grand-daughter came.

Notes on accommodation: As well as the beautiful pool area there are also a variety of board games and reading materials to ensure you've always something to entertain yourself with. We can supply a cleaning service if you wish which includes a change of bed linen and fresh towels (charged separately) Outside: Plenty of outside eating, relaxing and sunbathing areas. There is a large 10 x 5m swimming pool from where you can see just about everywhere without being overlooked. The pool is serviced by a pretty covered terrace where those wishing to escape the sun can relax whilst maintaining an eye on the goings on if needed. To the rear you will find a very useful BBQ area and a place to hang out the washing. The house is at the end of a private road and is gated so parking is easy either inside or outside the property. There is also a garage. If you fancy a break from relaxing and unwinding and a trip to the beach is in order; it’s around 20 mins drive to the wonderful beaches of Denia & Las Marinas with their plethora of restaurants & shops. The local village to which one can walk (it’s only a few hundred metres away) has a good little supermarket and all the hopefully unnecessary services - medical centre, pharmacy etc. We don’t want to go, but it’s good to know they’re there. Utility Room: Off the kitchen is a useful larder/ultility room with washing machine and plenty of storage space. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We supply fresh bed linen and towels at the beginning of your stay. The pool is cleaned on a regular basis and this may occur during your stay. Prior advice will be given. Cleaning service with fresh bed linen and towels available at additional cost. Other: Various sun terraces in addition to a great pool area (fenced and gated for children's security). Both covered and open terraces are gaily sprinkled around the villa so you can chase or hide from the sun as you wish. All are very private and peaceful.

Outstanding tranquil Villa with superb views

The photographs on the web page really look fantastic but do not provide the true spectacle of this Villa. For us this Villa far out passed our expectations.

Booking was easy and Carl responded instantly to all our enquiries. The information pack provided was accurate and very helpful. The directions to the Villa are easy to follow and I did check on Google Map, Satellite, before travelling which helped understand the area and driving landmarks. At the villa there is plenty of off road secure parking for two plus cars with lockable gates providing added security. But to be honest after meeting Carl on our arrival he was the only person we actually saw during our stay. Even though the pool cleaner came and went while we were out. Carl personally gave us a comprehensive tour of the Villa, the equipment and how it all works. He provided internet and the use of his landline phone for local calls. It was very clear this is a Home first being used as a holiday let which for us added that extra charm. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. There are plenty of different outside spaces to sit out and eat all providing shade at different times of the day with plenty of room to spread out you do not feel you are all on top of each other. The very large garden is well maintained and adds character and charm to this property. The pool area is secured by a fence and gates which is ideal if you have young children. The pool is large and clean with six quality sun loungers. One thing this Villa provides in abundance is the superb views, they are totally outstanding. We really enjoyed the isolation, you are not overlooked and you feel you have total privacy even though you are only a short drive away from the town and slightly further to the La Marina Hyper Market complex.

My family have stayed in numerous Villas throughout Spain but this one for us ticked the majority of things on are ideal Villa holiday wish list, we all agree this Villa will be very hard to surpass.

We are so pleased you feel that the villa exceeded your expectations; it is always a little tricky to get photographs right. If they are too good you are likely to be a little disappointed. We've all seen Estate Agent photos that make a property look fabulous with the use of wide angle lenses etc. As it happens I am an Estate Agent here in Spain, but I don't use misleading photography; it makes little sense when reality rarely lives up to the imagination and you are left feeling a bit let down. We have always had the pleasure of seeing our guests into the villa and it is wonderful to see their first reactions when they realise that the villa is better in reality than the photos suggest and they know that they are going to be comfortable; one can't help but smile. It's a great place and my parents were really lucky to find it over thirty years ago. We hope you will take the time to read through the other reviews too and you will see that many of our guests feel the same way that we do about our villa; we love it.

A lovely villa and pool in prime position with stunning views!

Looking for a quiet, private location with all amenities nearby for a relaxing break, we decided Atalaya del Sol might fit the bill. We were so impressed and delighted with our choice, great space and options for outside dining on the many terraces surrounding the villa in sun or shade! Very well equipped kitchen, super comfortable beds, in fact it gave us the almost perfect home from home holiday! The downside was being unable to enjoy a swim in the gorgeous pool, owing to our early April stay, but no doubt the temperature would be perfect later on in the season!

A Hidden Gem

Very peaceful and private location with awesome views.

Because of the well equipped kitchen we found it easy to self cater which was important to us.

The well kept pool was delightful and a good depth, great for swimming and it gets a lot of sun. A car is essential but we did walk to the village several times.

The villa is cool and full of character, a perfect retreat and well located for trips to Denia, Javea and Oliva.

Lots of interesting plants, we found the wild rosemary very useful and we managed to spot the elusive red squirrel !

Stunning Villa

As good as the photographs

We had a wonderful stay at this villa. It is spacious and there are lots of different places to enjoy either in the sun or the shade. The pool is large and very clean and proved a big hit with everyone, especially the children. The views are amazing and the villa is well equipped. You would need to be pretty fit to walk to the village but it is so lovely just to enjoy the surroundings from the villa. We would like to visit again.

This is a very popular cycling area. One of Spain's primary sports. We can happily put you in touch with specialist trainers who live nearby and would be delighted to assist with any aspect of the sport.

Coast/Beach:

It's a very picturesque 15-20 minute drive through orange groves to the local beaches all of which are beautifully unspoilt, but offer many attractions, restaurants and bars.The nearest are those of Las Marinas and Denia with Javea just a little further.

Travel:

Benidoleig is easily accessed from both Valencia and Alicante airports, each about an hour away. Murcia airport is a 2 hour drive and Barcelona just under 4 hours. We recommend you have use of a car to fully exploit the area. Driving in the area is easy with hardly ever any traffic.

Distances:

In the villa, you will find a comprehensive file that contains information regarding local activities, places to go, restaurants, theme parks, bus and taxi services etc. When you have secured your booking we will be happy to forward details via email including a map of the area and local beaches. By car: Benidoleig village, 2 minutes, Denia (beaches and port) 15-20 minutes, Valencia, 60 minutes, Benidorm and theme parks nature reserves and water parks etc. 35 minutes.

Further Details:

The area has traditionally been famous for its oranges and other citrus fruits, as well as olives, cherries and almonds. This area of Spain enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, mild winters and pleasantly warm summers which means that the outdoor life can be enjoyed for most of the year. Activities to be enjoyed around Benidoleig include -golf, fishing, sailing, canoeing, tennis, cycling, horse riding, scuba diving, go-karting. Health spa, walking crazy golf and trampolines. Within an easy drive are two water parks, one in Cullera and the other in Benidorm each around 35 minutes away. Also in Benidorm you will find the Terra Mitica theme park and Terra Natura nature reserve plus Mundo Mar "sea world". All of which provide a great day out! You could also visit Benidorm Palace as 'shown on TV!'

Booking Notes:
When you book, we will send you a rental agreement which we ask that you sign and return to us. We ask that you pay a deposit of £250 (non-returnable if you cancel your stay). This becomes a returnable security deposit for the duration of your holiday and will be returned to you within 15 days of your departure less any deductions for damages or costs for excessive cleaning etc. Final payment should be made 8 weeks prior to arrival. For longer term lets other conditions may apply.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is flexible as are arrival and departure times. Where there is an arrival and a departure on the same day we ask for the departure at 11:00 and arrival not before 15:00.

Notes on prices:
Large discounts are available for lets of 8 weeks or longer duration, except during the months of June, July and August. If you like the idea of spending a warm sunny winter in Spain please contact us and we would be happy to provide you with details of the savings you could make. The villa is also available for short stays and weekend breaks except in June, July and August. The minimum stay is two nights.
