Barn in Padstow, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location, Close To Padstow, Beaches And Estuary.
David and Chris Burley
About David and Chris Burley
David was born in Cornwall and has happy memories of family holidays in the area. We bought the barn when our children were teenagers, having moved on from the bucket and spade phase to discovering the delights of surfing and body boarding! David is a keen dinghy sailor and enjoys messing around on the water. Chris is a teacher and loves the dramatic scenery and walks of the Cornish coastline, as well as trips to the open air Minac Theatre at Porthcurno.
David and Chris Burley purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why David and Chris Burley chose Padstow
As an architect, David was attracted to the barn because of its double height, open plan living area and its original exposed beams. Its slighty sunken south facing garden is a sun trap. The peaceful location is an ideal retreat from busy Padstow, but close enough to feel part of it too. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have!
What makes this Cottage unique
Although Cornwall is thought of as a Summer vacation, our wood burning stove makes it a cosy Winter retreat. During the shoulder season the barn can be booked for long weekends - ideal for walks on deserted beaches and sampling local pubs. We also accept 1 dog, on negotiation, for an additional fee of £20.
100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
Helpful local info re walks & ordnance map which we greatly appreciated.
Some suggestions that would add to our stay in future: recycling facility for plastics, paper etc. There was only a general waste bin on site.
Extra hand towel (only one supplied) for 2 occupants also extra dish drying towel (only one supplied)
A few UHT milk pods for tea on arrival as shops are a drive away.
Note to say where keys to patio door are stored. Didn't locate them til 2nd day.
Window blinds can't be closed as control rods not functional. I like bedroom dark in summer.
Great cottage, lovely and clean in a quiet location. Good access to lots of local beaches and Padstow. Ideal for our stay with our dog.
Glad you enjoyed your break away at Tregella! As you say, we're only a short distance from town and coast but a quiet place to retreat to from the crowds.
excellent location and lovely cottage....
The place was has advertised .... plenty of room for two just far enough out of the town so you could choose to walk or drive.... the only thing missing was a pack of cards which we have forgot on every holiday in 2018 so have quite a collection now ...
would recommend to anyone looking for a chill out ... within hours of being here you feel just that..... we will be back Im sure...

Great location, outside Padstow but a 5 min drive into town and 10 mins to beaches in opposite direction. Lovely views over fields. The small apartment / home is comfortable with everything that you need (including a hairdryer - thank you!). A bedside light in the main bedroom would be good. We hope to return!
We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Tregella. Bedside lamp duly noted! Hope to see you again in the future.
Good location for visiting Padstow and local beaches
Cosy and comfortable
Sunny little garden peaceful while we were there because we didn't have any neighbours
Bed very comfy but could do with a bit more wardrobe space or perhaps I should learn to take less!
Chris readily available on phone should you need him
A little milk in fridge on arrival would be nice but tea, coffee etc. was provided
Lovely location, well appointed cottage, handy for Padstow and surrounding area
Short break in area. Lots of lovely walks nearby and if you have a four-legged friend, most of the beaches are dog-friendly the whole year round. Padstow lively and bustling with lots of places to wine and dine.
