Available for winter long lets and weekly summer lets. Modern, third floor 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (one en-suite), air-conditioned apartment. The apartment is furnished to a high standard including a fully fitted kitchen having dishwasher, microwave cooker etc. Utility room. The lounge has a 32' Flat screen with cable TV and DVD player along with UK TV CHANNELS via an android IPTV box. WIFI. There is a roof top swimming pool which has fantastic sea views of the Reserva Natural da Ria Formosa. It is part of the Village Marina complex which is next to the newly built 5* Spa hotel. The apartment is 15 minutes from Faro airport and approximately 30 minutes drive to the Spanish border. Situated on the western side of Olhão it is only a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal which takes you to the beaches on the Ihla do Culatra and Farol which has the lighthouse and Armona the closest Island. This walk takes you along the water front past the marina and the fresh fruit and fish markets, also past the majority of water front restaurants. Pay Pal or bank payment accepted.

I have been living in the Algarve since 2006 and I bought this apartment off plan as I had been involved in the sales of the developers previous project in Albufeira.

I tried to keep the apartment in the best condition and I furnished it to a standard I would hope to turn up to myself.

Another nice stay in Olhao

This was our second stay in this apartment which is modern, clean and feels very secure. It is reassuring when you book your holiday that you know exactly where you are staying, and the view from the balcony etc which is why we enjoy using the HomeAway method of booking all of our holidays. The standard of accommodation is high with widescreen tv and excellent standard of wifi and you do not hear any noise from other apartments.

Olhao itself is a bustling and busy suburb of Faro with loads of local good quality restaurants serving excellent food at reasonable prices. There are also the usual alternatives of Italian, Chinese and indian restaurants. There are also some quality Portuguese tapas bars/ restaurants and most of the clients are the local Portuguese.

Although there are no beaches in Olhao, it is very easy to catch a local ferry to the outlying islands where you will find amazing uncrowded beaches.

Altogether we have visited the Real Marina Apartments 5 times during the last 3 years and we like the idea of the modern apartment combined with a genuine Portuguese town with no sign of a full English breakfast or a beefburger.

Wonderful position

This apartment could not have been more perfect for us. It is very spacious, spotlessley clean and has everything necessary for a really comfortable stay. We were fortunate to have very few neighbours during our stay so it was really quiet and we were able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets from the terrace with a glass of local wine. We loved the fact that we had to walk along the beautiful promenade to the market and enjoy our morning coffee in the bustling town. The weather was fabulous and apart from taking a couple of boats out to the islands (Armona was beautiful) and some walking in the hills, we didn't feel the need to venture too much further. Shops are really convenient and the range of restaurants open off season is excellent. We had some fantastic simple grilled fish meals - just what we were hoping for.

All in all a wonderful holiday and we will definitely be back.

Great apartment!

Perfect stay for my daughter and myself

Lisa was helpful, informative and gave us a lovely welcome

The apartment was perfect for our needs, well equipped and extremely relaxing

The location was perfect for us situated on the edge of town but easy walk to market and island ferries

I was hesitant when giving a good review of this property as I would like it to be available for return visits which we certainly will be doing!!

Fabulous apartment and cycling adventures

Such a great apartment, fab location and everything you could wish for in a holiday home. We went into town most evenings to eat, tapas was great and Pizza an Pedra was the best infact we went in there most evenings as one of us is a vegetarian! The local supermarket is a 10 min walk and has everything you need.

We have many happy memories of sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down with a glass of wine.

We went cycling everyday exploring and then walked around the salt pans in the afternoon to see the flamingos. We brought back some famous salt too.

The roof top swimming is something else, heaven :-).

Thank you to Lisa, Coral and Adam for your help and making our holiday a special one. Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.

Excellent Luxury Apartment with Roof top pool

Once again, I cannot fault this apartment, clean, tidy, well maintained and very welcoming and homely, everything we required was in the apartment. The restaurants were really good especially Cantaloup Cafe down the front for lunch they do fantastic ham and pineapple toasties. Pizza na Pedra great food and the Brazilian restaurant Sabores do Churrasco great value for money.

Everything that we wanted and more

Have to say that I'm always a little apprehensive when booking holidays as I've had a couple of unpleasant surprises in the past but was extremely happy with the apartment as it was a home away from home, shops nearby and the area was tranquil. The apartment was just as described on the website very clean and well presented. The view from the balcony was relaxing and my children enjoyed getting up in the mornings and going to the rooftop pool before we went off to the beach... Food in the local restaurants was good and very reasonably priced and if you love fish then there are plenty of restaurants who serve a variety of fresh fish caught by the local fisherman... The Ria shopping centre which is a 5 min drive away has a really great go karting track and we found having a car useful in order to go to the bigger shopping centres and supermarkets, driving was ok even though the Portuguese tend to do a lot of tail gating if the car in front is driving too slow...All in all I would recommend the apartment and the area to anyone looking for a top notch holiday that they've worked hard to enjoy.. Beaches were amazing too...

Travelling east from Olhão is the small sea village of Fuseta with the ruins of a castle and the older similar architectural style houses. To the north is the village of Moncarapacho with a 16th Century Church and a small local museum next door. On the nearby hill named Cerro da Cabeça there is a popular grotto named after the village. From the town of Olhão there is a ferry service that takes visitors to the nearby small islands of Ilha da Culatra and Ilha da Armona. With their unspoilt sandy beaches and lack of construction these islands act as a pleasant contrast to the noise and bustle of the neighbouring town.

Local History: The town of Olhão is essentially & historically linked to the local fishing industry & only grew into existence as a significant location in the 17th Century. It has about 30,000 inhabitants and was raised to the status of a town in 1808 on the 16th of June when they revolted against the French occupying army. Then 17 local fishermen successfully crossed the Atlantic Ocean without charts in their small fishing boat “Bom Sucesso”. Their purpose was to announce to the exiled King of Portugal, Dom João IV, that the French invading armies had been defeated & had returned to France leaving Portugal free for their King to return. Architecturally the town is well known for an older quarter where the flat terraced roofs and straight box-shaped chimneys show a definite Moorish flavour. Another curiosity is the fish market in a long building on the waterfront. Every morning there is a lively atmosphere & the impressively large variety of fish offered is displayed to tempt customer.
