The Roost @ Croft Cottage

Bedrooms 1
Property type bed & breakfast
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Croft Cottage is a comfortable and informal bed & breakfast, a home away from home you could say. We are located right in the heart of the Wye Valley countryside in the hamlet of Hom Green, just 2 miles south of Ross-on-Wye.

Croft Cottage is a great base to explore the scenic Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, Malvern Hills and of course the beautiful 3 counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

The Roost is a self-contained suite for 2 people with all the home comforts you would expect which includes:

Private entry, Ensuite Shower, Fairtrade tea and coffee making facilities, Hairdryer, WiFi, TV and seating area and a selection of DVDs, books and games.

Unfortunately the Roost does not have wheelchair access and it is not suitable for children under 12 as it is located on the first floor and has an open staircase for access. No smoking or pets please.

For breakfast we use our home grown fruit and vegetables and local produce to give your breakfast a truly Herefordshire touch.

The home cooked breakfast uses locally produced sausages, dry cured bacon and black pudding. Home grown seasonal fruits such as plums, rhubarb, strawberries, apples, pears, quinces, damsons and blackberries are used to make jams and seasonal fruit compotes. We also make all of our own bread, yoghurts and granola in the cottage kitchen and don’t forget all of our eggs come from the ‘girls’ which free roam around the cottage garden.

There are many things to do whilst staying with us - You can enjoy walking, canoeing, bird-watching, stargazing, fishing and as well as visiting well  known attractions such as Symonds Yat, Hereford Cathedral, Monmouth, Gloucester Cathedral, Goodrich Castle and Tintern Abbey. After a hard day exploring why not have a gentle stroll to the award winning Mill Race Pub in Walford which is just 2 miles away along the country lane.

2 night booking minimum is required.

About The Owner

Leigh is a wildlife, nature and animal enthusiast and would be more than happy to share her top tips for wildlife spotting in the county.

The Owner purchased this bed and breakfast in 2012

Why The Owner chose Ross-on-Wye

Croft Cottage is located 2 miles south of Ross on Wye in the heart of the Wye Valley. Sustainability is a way of life for us wherever possible! We grow much of our own fruit & vegetables, compost organic waste and recycle what we can. Nothing is wasted – if we don’t eat it the hens, cat or ducks usually will.

Myself and my partner really enjoyed our stay. The owners are warm and welcoming and provided a fantastic breakfast and extra little bits for your room. Would definitely recommend visiting and we may well return in the future. 10/10

Stunningly beautiful with attentive and considerate hosts

  • 5 of 5

The only reason I am giving The Roost five stars is that I can't give them any higher. We arrived late Friday night to be greeted and guided to our room, where we were met with (incredibly tasty) homemade biscuits, tea and coffee and a beautiful bedspread. It's the finer details that make the stay far more enjoyable. Our breakfast was delivered on Saturday morning, with the ingredients being either homemade or locally sourced. It was, without doubt, one of the best breakfasts I have ever tasted. The hosts themselves were perfect in every way, checking on us to see if we were enjoying our stay and to see if there was anything else they could do, as well as topping up tea/coffee and biscuits on the morning. To be greeted by genuinely kind and considerate hosts makes all the difference and those at Croft Cottage have got this totally sussed.

We would love to return very soon and I couldn't recommend a stay at this beautiful property enough. The price charged is more than reasonable for everything that is included and is a great deal. Thank you for having us!
