Wonderful, secluded place with lots of character

  • 5 of 5

Having trawled the web for a suitable place to stay for our family, we were lucky enough to chance upon this wonderful little Hire in the middle of rural France. Mike, the owner, we extremely helpful and looked after us, answering any questions and providing lots of local information to make our stay a pleasant one. With great night time skies, lots of wildlife (butterflies, bats, birds and lizards), our 7 year old had a great time. Set in the shade of a 450 year old Chateaux, but with plenty of sun we were able to set up our 4 month old in the shade everyday and just enjoy the good weather. Not too far away are all the amenities you could need, such as bakeries, supermarkets etc. We would thoroughly recommend, and will be going back at some point.

Cosy comfortable little gite in a quiet backwater of the Vendee

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed for a week in this comfortable little gite in a very quiet village. We had fab weather so were able to get out and about every day. The property is small but was very adequate for our needs - we were out all day exploring the region by bike (ideal totally flat terrain with farmland, canals and villages to visit) or visiting the coast - so the only time we spent at the gite was mostly sitting out cooking and eating each evening in the secluded garden. The facilities in the property suited our basic needs perfectly; two double bedrooms, bathroom (with very good shower), kitchen (hob only, no oven as is clear from the property details), and a sitting room/lounge which we scarcely used. We used the barbecue every night, and enjoyed some windfall figs from the tree in the front. Mike was friendly and helpful, meeting us on arrival and offering help or advice should we need it. We all had a great week!

Lovely property. Lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

After a long day travelling we were so pleased to have a bottle of wine waiting for us. The gite was spotless and very cosy. Our dog loved the garden that was spatious and secure. Mike the owner was amazing too. He gave us lots of advice on the best places to visit and was on hand to answer any queries we had. We loved our stay and was very sad to leave. But we will be returning in the very near future.

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage and our dog loved the garden. Cottage was very tastefully decorated and the description of the cottage was accurate and very clean. Mike was really helpful and we would recommend this cottage. La Rochelle is beautiful and only half an hour from the cottage. We wished we had gone to see it earlier in the week as too much to see in one day. Vouvent is a beautiful village 20mins from the cottage, where we spent time walking, shopping and eating. It was a lovely week.
