About Helen Shand
My name is Helen Shand and I and my husband Garrow bought Castle Farm in 1987. We are from suffolk farming stock and wanted our four children to have plenty of space to play in safety. Shearers cottage was at that time an old sheep shearing shed in our front garden and we felt it would make an ideal holiday cottage. That was 24 years ago and now Shearers Cottage has been extended and re-furbished to a very high standard. We are therefore on hand if our guests need anything.
Helen Shand purchased this Bungalow in 1980
Why Helen Shand chose Woodbridge
We bought Castle Farm, a 50 acre farm, to have more space for Garrow's contracting business and for our children to have plenty of space for horses, cars, bikes and loads of fun! We love this part of Suffolk as there is so much to do, the varied countryside, with woods, beautiful coastline and wide open spaces to explore, has something for everyone.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Shearers Cottage has plenty of living space and beautiful surroundings while being close to lots of Suffolk's best amenities.

Quiet location, well presented property with everything one needs!
Spacious accommodation with two en-suite large bedrooms, large lounge & dining area with a kitchen that has all that one needs. Ideally situated for exploring the towns & villages in the area and enjoying country walks. The coast is minutes away in a car. We had a very enjoyable few days here over New Year.
So glad you enjoyed your stay.
A lovely cosy cottage in a nice woodland setting with easy access from Woodbridge and the A12
The weather for the time of the year was fair Windy & cold at times but returning to the cottage each day it was warm and felt like home. Hopefully we will be returning next year as we have more to see in the area. We were made very welcome by Helen who came to see us shortly after we arrived.
So glad you enjoyed your stay, we hope to see you again one day
Clean, cosy, homely & well equipped in beautiful surroundings.
Lovely cottage with excellent facilities couldn't have asked for better. Surroundings super; the boys loved the swings and trampoline. Host very helpful and actually changed our booking dates when we asked, due to a change of half term dates by our local school, without issue. Highly recommend to all. We are hoping to return.
pet friendly, spacious and well equipped
No complaints. We arrived on a chilly day to a warm, comfortable cottage. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped and the en-suits were proper sized bathrooms which was a pleasant surprise. We'll definitely stay again.
Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again at Christmas!
Lovely cosy, modern well equipped cottage.
Perfect for a short break, everything you need and in a good location.
Thank you James for your kind words and I hope you visit us again
Lovely cottage with great facilities
A really lovely place to stay for a long weekend. Good facilities although the kettle could do with replacing. Close to woodbridge town which was a nice day out. Only reason I gave 4* is because there should be clearer directions getting to the property as your sat nav can take you further to where the cottage is. Other than that, a lovely stay. Thanks for your hospitality Helen and the milk and wine was a very nice touch.
Thank you for your kind words and I will try and attach directions to the welcome email for future guests. I hope you visit us again.
