About Susan Hard

We have owned this property since it was built in 2006 and all our family have enjoyed it for its closeness to the beaches and the Bestival. Although we don't live on the Island we have very professional agents who live close by who look after the property for us and are available if anything goes wrong.

Why Susan Hard chose West Sussex

This is a typical English cottage with a log fire and will appeal to anyone who wants a home from home experience. The garden is particularly admired and full of roses in the summer months. Visitors comment on the well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. It is particularly popular at Christmas and New Year and for the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Revival. We welcome guests for short breaks as well as weekly lets. The cottage is also popular with wedding parties for those getting married locally. All guests receive a welcome pack on their arrival and travel cots and stair gates are available for younger guests.

Lovely weekend spot

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time staying at Ivy Cottage for the long weekend. The cottage is very well appointed, and has a lovely rose garden and conservatory. We were very comfortable indeed. Susan was a very helpful host and gave us plenty of tips for things to do in the area. There was no shortage of great outings to do within a close locality. Great place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. If you had come in a couple of weeks the roses would all be out which is very colourful. I am so pleased you found plenty to do in the area and that the Arundel Tournament was a success. I must find out more information about it. Hopefully you will come back an enjoy Ivy Cottage.

The cottage was lovely very bright and warm. Plenty of crockery and utensils, there is a store cupboard which is very handy, you just replace what you have used up , and anything you have left. We had our grandsons with us and they enjoyed the games. The beds are very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will more than likely return.

A fantastic family break in this lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was set in an ideal location for a relaxing family break. We stayed here over the New Year with some friends when the weather was less than ideal. However, the cottage was spacious and well equipped, making it very comfortable to stay indoors throughout these wet days. Seemingly very rural but also only a short walk to a major supermarket and a superb Indian restaurant/takeaway. When there was a break in the rain, there were also attractive strolls from the cottage itself. All rooms were furnished to a high standard and we particularly enjoyed the open log fire in the living room. We were very well looked after by the owner who took great care in showing us around the cottage at the start of our stay. Overall a lovely New Year break and we would not hesitate to recommend this to other families with young children.

A real English Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Ivy Cottage is dream cottage in a picture-postcard surrounding. We all loved the view out of the bedroom onto the old church.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and had everything we needed and much more.

The lovely garden is in perfect condition. You see a garden lovers work!.

We enjoyed our stay not only because the cottage and the garden were perfect for us six gardenfriends but also because Susan made us feel so welcomed after a long drive from Germany with fresh milk, eggs and butter in the fridge.

Susan was so helpfull with hints and maps of the area. She told us all about the gardens in the area and especially the garden of Woolbeding which we otherwise would have missed!

As we are a German group of friends Susan had total understanding for all the difficuluties of the money transfer. We absolutely recommend Ivy cottage and would love to come back.D.v.Z.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your very kind review. We very much enjoyed your visit and was only too pleased to point you in the direction of other enjoyable gardens that were not on your list. I am only so sorry that you came a little early to enjoy the roses in the garden which are now at their best. Perhaps another time. I hope you enjoyed Batemans as well on your return to Germany Regards Susan

Lovely well-equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at Ivy Cottage, and we had a really nice time. The owners are very welcoming, and there are nice touches around the cottage, like fresh flowers. The cottage is very comfortable and clean and is very well equipped. We visited Chichester, Arundel, Drusillas Park and Weald and Downland Open Air Museum. We also took the children for a horse ride at Woodland Stables in Worthing. On our last visit we also went to Brighton and Knockhatch so there is plenty to do. We would definitely recommend Ivy Cottage.
