About Mr Andrew Baker

My wife and I live in the UK and have two boys here at school. We both work so holidays are very special to us especially as the boys get older and want more time to themselves.

Mr Andrew Baker purchased this house in 2005

Why Mr Andrew Baker chose Aigues-Mortes

We found the marina development - Port du Roy/St Louis - at the French property exhibition at Olympia in 2005, we bought off-plan and the dream unfolded. We watched the marina develop over the years, often frustratingly slowly, but finally moved in October 2007. The area in and around Aigues Mortes was unknown to us, and half the excitement was the thought of being able to fully explore and feel at home in a new part of France. The ancient fortified walled town of Aigues Mortes is only a short walk (approx. 15 minutes) and has many good restaurants and bars, the beaches are a 20 minute drive away.

What makes this house unique

The house has a double room and a twin bedded room, fully equipped kitchen bathroom, walk in shower and two toilets. It is comfortably furnished, has heating and air conditioning, a decked garden and balcony from the master bedroom.

The house in located on a private gated island with private parking at front and the garden faces south overlooking the marina at the rear.

The marina is accessible from the Mediterranean and the property has a 13m mooring and pontoon for easy access. The trip out to sea takes approximately 30 minutes at Le Grau du Roi, a picturesque fishing village.

Once out to sea you can head out by boat to the left past Port Camargue to the vast expanse of sandy beaches at L'Espigquette or head right to La Grande Motte and the water skiing lake at L'Etang du Ponan

Well presented clean & tidy property in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

Property was easy to find and handover was effortless. Once inside we appreciated the quality of the property which was very well equipped.

The location was perfect with Aigues-Mortes a 20 minute stroll and then lots to visit around and about by car.

Very well equiped house and quiet secure location.

  • 5 of 5

Aigues Mortes is a very busy town with a lot of cars and people.

We experienced very hot temperatures and so very grateful for the air conditioning.

Anybody who comes to this area should be aware of French drivers who appear to have obtained their driving licences in a raffle.

The best property we have rented for some years - well equipped, excellent condition, great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a few communications issues through the site but once we were in contact with the owner everything went smoothly. As instructed, we called local property manager (Debbie) to advise our time of arrival and she was waiting to let us in.

The property has a small but well equipped kitchen (recently refitted?) with washing machine, and dishwasher, as well as built-in oven, microwave, two ring cooker and good sized fridge freezer. Being British owned, we had those most rare luxuries in France - a kettle and toaster; we even had a Tassimo coffeemaker. Plenty of cooking utensils and china/glass are provided. It was very hot during our stay, so the aircon provided welcome relief at bedtime. We only used the double bed which was very comfortable.

The indoor area has two large sofas and a dining table for four. There is TV/entertainment system as well as videos, books and games, but we never used them - sitting in the secure garden area watching dusk creep-in rough our rosé tinted glasses in was entertaining enough for us.

The house has only one parking space, which might be a drawback if friends were sharing, but it is very wide and made loading/unloading easy. The lovely old town town of Aigues Mortes is about 15 minutes walk. Yes, it is a bit of a tourist trap at peak times but very well worth a visit and the walk around the outside of the walls opens up onto the waterways and waterside walks.

After a long drive from Le Havre, I was delighted to hear from Debbie that it is possible to get a train to Nimes for 1 Euro each way. Arles and Sete are also easy to get to by car and we had good walks around both. If we had stayed longer we would have re-visited Aix.

It is obviously a cared for family holiday home and not just a money-making holiday letting.

We would have no hesitation recommending it. If we return to the area another year it will be the first port of call.

Wonderful place to stay and a great area to explore

  • 5 of 5

All the reviews were spot on about the accommodation, the location, and the ease to travel to so many amazing attractions in that part of France. We are already talking about returning back later in the year. A wonderful place to stay, enjoyed every minute.

Another fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

Another great stay in a wonderful villa. Enjoyed breakfast overlooking the Marina and cycling into Aigues Mortes for evening meals. Uzes on Wednesdays (market day) followed by afternoon kayaking through Pont du Gard deserved two visits this year and Marseille was breathtaking (advise going on the bus tour to get an overview of the whole area). Great villa and region with lots to see and do - we'll be back!

Great autumn break

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Marina despite some very vocal ducks!! The villa is very comfortable and well equipped (the Molton Brown products were a very nice touch), and Debbie Brake (local manager) was quite flexible and helpful. Despite an unpromising forecast, the weather was fine and we spent some very pleasant evenings eating dinner and playing canasta on the terrace. Since we know the surrounding area quite well we decided to stay local, explored on our bikes (serious bikers should note that good biking routes are limited), ate lots of moules and huitres, sampled the vin de sable and went for long walks along an almost deserted Espiguette beach. All in all, a great autumn break.
