About the property

Alice Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Ground Floor

Kitchen: On entering the property from the rear garden you will find yourself in a lovely, well equipped kitchen complete with, electric oven and hob, under counter fridge, small freezer, microwave oven.

Sitting room: This cosy room, features exposed beams, pamment tiles and a wood burning stove, two ample and comfortable sofas, one of which is a sofa-bed. There is a TV/DVD combo with Freesat, and a small dining table and chairs.

First Floor

Stairs: Cupboard stairs lead to the first floor where you will find 2 bedrooms.

Bedroom 1: A traditional yet tastefully decorated double room with a lovely cast iron bed, wardrobe and dressing table.

Bedroom 2: A small, light and airy room with drawers and small single bed, probably more suited to a child.

Bathroom: A nice, bright family bathroom with a bath and a new electric shower over, basin and w.c.

Garden: A small porch overlooks the garden (there is shared access across the rear of the cottage with the cottages on either side), with seats to enjoy the morning sunshine. The garden has lawns, mature trees and shrubs, and garden furniture for when the sun is shining! The garden is securely fenced and is therefore nice and safe for children and pets. Please note; a small dog can squeeze through the criss cross fencing if naughty enough!

The garden is enclosed and is accessed through a gate just the other side of the shared access path that runs across the back of the cottages.

Parking is off road to the rear of the property accessed from Wells Road. The river runs beyond the garden gate close by the road.

2 Pets welcome @ £10 each

Alice Cottage is a lovely, stylish yet traditional, cosy mid-terrace property in the village of North Creake, just 3 miles from Burnham Market and 10 minutes drive to the coast. The house has been extensively renovated and has retained original beams and pamment floor tiles and brickwork to make a real country cottage. There is secondary double glazing throughout. The River Burn runs along the end of the garden (Pooh sticks are provided!). Within walking distance is the village pub just 2 minutes across the road. Just outside the village are the ruins of a 14th Century Augustinian Priory where there is a regular Farmers Market and permanent café and selective shops. The cottage is ideally placed to enjoy the coast and all that the area has to offer inland.

Description did not actually lie but has serious omissions. V. noisy road, only 3 TV channels.

  • 2 of 5

Cottage located very close to noisy, busy road, no pavement. Described as sleeps 4. Second single bedroom junk under bed, no hanging area. Poor clothes hanging storage throughout cottage. Stairs difficult, old & young would have great difficulty. No internet, no land phone, no mobile signal therefore no ability to contact in or out in emergencies. Power points upstairs lacking. Described as having Sky TV, actually only 3 - BBC1, BBC2, ITV1. Lack of ordinary drinking glasses. Pub opposite does not do food. Garden description very imaginative. Garden furniture in disgraceful condition, unusable and brook no where near end of garden. Cupboard understairs full of stuff, totally clutter. Cottage in need of good clean and clear out as under main bed dusty as was spare room and behind toilet dirty. It wouldn't have cost a lot to supply small plastic bin bags in all rooms and kitchen. No sink drainer or cutlery container for drying. Due to traffic unable to have main bedroom window open, duvet too warm. Unable to close door to main bedroom and sun from window over stairs shone early, no blind or curtain.

The only good points were bed comfortable as were the settees (if you could find them under the unnecessary amount of scatter cushions.

We have booked many cottages in UK and abroad and have used HomeAway before with good results. This cottage does not meet your usual standards in any way.
