As with much Andalucían architecture there is a Moroccan style to the grounds of Fuentes, with fountains and passages revealing unexpected glimpses of the sea. Antonio, the caretaker lovingly tends the exotic plants and orange trees around the complex. The pool is surrounded by lawn, where you can sunbathe. If you prefer, you can laze on our private terrace and still see the pool. Ours is one of only 3 apartments, to have triple aspect and there is an extra conservatory/breakfast room beyond the kitchen. The apartment is located well away from the road and restaurant noises and overlooks the sea (dolphins have been spotted, so take your binoculars!). You can walk to every part of Nerja: beaches, the Balcon de Europa, restaurants, tapas bars, cafes, the old town, supermarket, ATM, internet café. No need to worry about parking difficulties, when your car can be in our private lock up garage. Children and adults alike will love a ride on the tourist train or horse drawn carriages.

About Zelda Hill
We have been visiting Spain for many years and were struck by the charm of Nerja. The apartment ticked all our boxes of being very close to Nerja Old town, and beaches, having front line sea views, a garage and being situated in one of the best maintained complexes in Nerja. We aim to visit Nerja about three times a year and have met a number of repeat visitors, some of whom have stayed longer than we do! We are always interested in new recommendations from our visitors. Catherine from the agents Menyber manages the apartment for us. She speaks English and Spanish and knows an army of tradesmen who she can call on in the rare event of a problem.
Zelda Hill purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Zelda Hill chose Nerja
We chose Nerja as being head and shoulders above other towns along the southern Spanish coast. Its mountain backdrop, rocky coves, narrow streets and low-rise development in the historic centre give it a unique character. Despite being a holiday resort, it still feels predominantly Spanish and even in the low season nearly all bars, shops and restaurants remain open throughout, serving the local community. It is compact enough for any part of the town and its beaches to be reached by walking. In 5-10 minutes you can wander from the flat up to the Balcon de Europa to sip a Spanish coffee whilst watching the varied groups enjoying the sea and mountain views. If more energetic an interesting mostly off road jog is possible along the beaches and below the Roman viaduct to Maro.
What makes this Apartment unique
We bought this apartment as it met all the pre-requirements we had set – easy walk to town, beaches and shops/restaurants, front line sea views, good sized swimming pool open all year, well kept secure complex, sunny aspect and a garage - to side step perennial parking problems in town. The apartment is one of only 3 to be situated on the end of Bloc A with a triple east-south-west aspect and an extra conservatory/breakfast room beyond the kitchen. Fuentes de Nerja is immaculately maintained by Antonio, the porteria, who is always so friendly and helpful and ensures that the complex retains its well-deserved reputation for being one of the best in Nerja.
Pool / Spa
Beautiful property, superb location & well equipped
We really enjoyed our 2 week stay here in July 2018. The apartment is situated very centrally near the Balcon (5-10 mins walk) The beach is 3 mins walk, nearest restaurant is next to the entrance, and supermarket 5 mins. You can’t beat the location. The pool was great, opening 10-3pm & 5-8pm, which once you got used to the times were not a problem. The grounds are immaculate being swept and tended to every day & the small development was very secure. The double balcony was great. The second balcony in the kitchen was enclosed but most windows you could open to make it feel like a proper balcony. The sea view was so calming. All equipment you could want for, was in the apartment. The welcome wine was a lovely touch. We had to add a few Euros for the air conditioning which takes 1 & 2 Euro coins but depends on how much you use it. The air conditioning was in the master bedroom & lounge but not in bedroom 2. Our daughters found it very hot but 2 plug in fans were supplied which helped. Nerja is a beautiful town with numerous restaurants to suit all budgets. The sea was not at its best. Cold the first week warming up a bit the 2nd week. The sea was also quite dirty with one day attracting jelly fish when you could not go in. Thank goodness for the pool! There are 2 boats that come everyday clearing the rubbish from the sea but a kind of scum remained the whole time which was a shame. This should not detract from the this beautiful apartment & may have just been the time of the year. If you walked beyond the Balcon & just before we found some stunning alcove beeches some with food/drink/ice cream huts, some without. Our favourite was not signposted & could be found by the church just before the Balcón.We took a large cool bag with us and there were freezer blocks in the freezer. However the shop opposite the entrance sold small polystyrene cool boxes too. Simon the owner, reacted very quickly when we had a small problem. All in all highly recommended.
Loved Nerja and all it had to offer.
The property had a superb position within the complex and superb views over the sea and the swimming pool.
The apartment very good although I felt it could do with a little TLC. (My standards are high). All said I wouldn’t hesitate in booking this again as the complex was very well looked after and the apartment so well positioned within complex.
4 weeks stay in Nerja
Enjoyed our stay much, however ungoing maintenance work on changing elevators during 4 weeks from morning til late evening very disturbing. Bed linen and towels where not collected or changed AS promised during entire stay of 4 weeks, but we were only 2 persons so we changed beds after 2 weeks and enjoyed the washing machine and beautiful sunrises from the kitchen. The TV was just a JOKE, only spanish channels, and respons from the agents Menyber where very disapointing when contacted on the matter. Otherwise the apartement was very nice, so also the soroundings and Nerja is very enjoyable.
I have delayed responding until I had made some progress on getting the TV sorted - which hopefully is now being done to include some 160 channels, including the UK terrestrial channels and main freeview ones. This had to wait until the community administrator finally allowed the cabling for 60MB internet after a year's delay - there was nothing I could do in the meantime to accelerate this despite much pushing!
With respect to the linen change, this was a very rare, if not unprecedented, aberration in 15 years of renting and can only apologise.
Apartment was lovely. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Great location.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately there was no signal for international channels. On Thursday the hot water went cold and wifi didn't work. Came back Friday. Wasn't a major issue but thought I'd point it out. Also we were disappointed that there were no beds for the pool area. The weather wasn't really for sunbathing but would have been a drawback if it was. Would definitely come back to this apartment again.
Beautiful property, well equipped and maintained.
The owners of the apartment, Zelda and Simon were very helpful and the apartment is bright and cheerful with magnificent views in a lovely location
First visit to Nerja and loved it, The Apartment is in a great spot ,convenient for the Town. The complex is clean and well managed.
Only issues were the satellite tv was no use and the beds were a bit basic.
Thanks, Joseph, for letting us know you enjoyed your stay.
Regarding the TV, it is always best to contact our local agents and they will send a TV engineer to investigate and, if possible, fix. However for the last 3 years there has been no satellite coverage for UK TV in southern Spain. The only service now available is through the internet. We asked our agents to install the best system available. They have already twice changed providers, attempting to get a more reliable service. We want to change again to a new one that is reputedly now the best. However that firm’s installation for others has damaged decoration in the complex and the community administration will no longer let them in to do further installations! So we are stuck. Other apartments are in the same position. Hopefully it will be resolved soon, but matters are out of our hands.
Regarding the beds, they are metal framed, both for hygiene and to leave space underneath for storage of suitcases. Our agents – who service many holiday properties throughout Andalucía and run a boutique hotel in Nerja – have just checked the mattresses and consider them to be in good condition.

There is a variety of beaches/coves within easy walking distance. Torrecilla is on the doorstep. Burriana is the most commercial, with shops and restaurants, where diving, snorkelling, kayaking, jet skiing and wonderful paellas cooked in large pans on the beach are available. Below the town are rocky coves and the Salon beach off the main square. The long Playa el Playazo extends west and is good to walk or jog along, with small eateries en route and kite surfers taking off on windy days.
Nerja is about 45 mins by motorway from Malaga airport, which has many car hire firms. We book through www.malagacarhire.com and pay in GBP (cash) at pick-up. Taxi one way is about 70 euros and can be arranged through our agent. Many clients use bus or train from the airport to Malaga and bus from Malaga to Nerja.
The picturesque hillside village of Frigilliana is a 15-minute drive, as are the coastal village of Maro & the famous Caves of Nerja. Grenada & the Alhambra are just over 1 hour on spectacular new motorway through the edge of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Skiing in the Sierra Nevada is a further 30 minute drive. Trevelez, the highest village in the Sierras is 1hr 25min. Other major historic towns of Ronda and Cordoba (with its Mesquite) can be reached in less than 2½ hours and Seville 3 hours.
For sports in and around Nerja there is a tennis club (opposite Hotel Nerja Club) and a number of riding stables. The Nerja Donkey sanctuary is a must for children & animal lovers. Water sports and jeep rides can be arranged in the town/Burriana beach (up-to-date details from Tourist Information). The Torre de Mar water park is a 20 min drive.
For provisions, the Eroski hypermarket, just off the motorway at Velez Malaga (we call in on the way from the airport) is about 20 mins drive. Mas supermarket is within easy walking distance from the apartment and has a car park. Mercadonna and Supersol supermarkets are further away within the town but both have car parks. There is a late night general store close by along the Avienda Mediterraneo, just past the Riu Hotel. Immediately outside the apartment complex is a great bakery, a variety of cafes/bars/restaurants, an internet cafe and ATM. There are plenty of banks in the town.
Nerja’s excellent Tourist Information is in the Town Hall, just behind the Balcon de Europa. Their maps and website are very useful: http://www.nerja.es/turismo_ing/
