Station Cottage dates back to 1694 and is situated in the rural village of Hognaston, Derbyshire. This stunning cottage was renovated and refurbished to create a luxurious holiday cottage with a wealth of character and charm. The location of Station Cottage combines the tranquility of Hognaston Village with easy access to the beauty of The Peak District, the popular towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne, the stately homes of Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall, the fun of Alton Towers, and it is just a 20 minute walk to Carsington Reservoir. Outside there is a patio with table and chairs to enjoy the peace of the village. And next door but one is The Red Lion Pub where tasty meals and drinks can be enjoyed.

A perfect family holiday.
We chose this location as it was in easy reach of all my extended family, travelling from Warrington, Stockport and Chesterfield. In the heart of a rural village, 3 generations were able to explore the beauty of Derbyshire, either walking or a taking short drive to numerous places, be it Carsington Water, Ashbourne, Matlock or Haddon Hall to name a few.
The cottage itself was faultless, clean and tidy on arrival, we found it to be extremely well equipped and very much a home from home - it even has a dishwasher :)
There being 8 of us, we used all the available bedrooms and found them very comfortable. The kitchen saw us sit down for a leisurely breakfast each morning - croissants and coffee, and of an evening, we could sit round the dining room table enjoying a meal together, either from the wonderful kitchen which had everything we needed or the takeaway :)
The upstairs bathroom, and downstairs shower and toilet served us well, and I personally loved the downstairs shower. There is outside seating and a table looking on to the quiet rural road, and we often used it to read, chat and have a drink.
This truly was a perfect family holiday, and I very much hope to return some day soon.

Hognaston's hidden secret
The property is located in a small quiet village where the local residents make you feel most welcome. The cottage is very deceptive in size from the outsize but internally it comfortably accommodated our party of seven adults. It was clean, tidy, well laid out and the welcoming package was much appreciated. We would have no hesitation in booking this property in the future.

A beautiful well equipped cottage in a great location.
Very comfortable and spacious. Friendly owner, very helpful and approachable. Amazing places to visit close by.
Clean, comfortable cottage in a lovely village within easy reach of many things to do.
Spacious enough for our 6 adults and 3 children and made perfect venue for family get together.
Exceptional Cottage !!!!
This property is really deceiving - doesn't look big enough to sleep 10 - although there were 8 adults in our group - but once you open the door you will be more than surprised. Lots of space, very clean, comfortable property. Wine and flowers on arrival which was a very nice touch. Villagers mostly friendly and the pub is around 50 yards away - food in there is lovely and the atmosphere in there is great !! Would not have any hesitation whatsoever in recommending this property.
