L'Amandier gite is on one level with three bedrooms (one en suite) with a seperate shower and wc, all leading off the open-plan living area. Recently refurbished, care and attention to detail make it a home-from-home. The decor is a balance of contemporary and traditional: a well-equipped modern kitchen complements the exposed stone walls, tapestries, old armoires, chaise longue and cast-iron banquette. Satellite TV provides UK freeview channels, with French and other European stations available on request. Plus there's a dvd player, cd player with ipod dock and free wi-fi connectivity. Uniquely, the sliding glass windows, which run the length of one side of the living area, open directly onto the mosaic surround of the heated pool - your own in-house pool bar! Outside, the courtyard garden has a BBQ and dining area, sun loungers and two further shady seating areas. There is secure parking for two cars inside the main gates, shaded by the magnificent almond tree, which gives the gite its name.

About Jill Morley
Jill, Richard, and spaniel Zac, loaded themselves, and whatever else they could fit in, into their car, and began their French Odyssey in 2009. Strangers to the Languedoc region, they were drawn to the Mediterranean landscape, lifestyle, culture, and the lure of 300 days of sunshine a year. They weren't disappointed. Finding a neglected converted wine barn, they applied their varied talents into creating a home for themselves and a holiday rental, which woud be a home for others. With backgrounds in furniture making and TV production, plus Zac's ability to dig holes, the project was bound to succeed! Decide for yourselves: they haven't looked back, and look forward to welcoming you to share their sun-drenched, secluded retreat.

Why Jill Morley chose Neffiès
We genuinely care about our guests, from attention to detail, to providing a welcome pack, and advising about whatever attractions suit your needs, we will go out of our way to help you. Previous guests have commented about how well-equipped, and how clean, the gite is: providing a home-from-home for you is important to us. The accommodation is spacious, and remains cool even in the height of summer. It is also quiet and tranquil, with all the benefits of a well-appointed village on your doorstep.
What makes this Apartment unique
After tumbling into the pool from inside the gite, you then have the choice of two excellent eating venues within 5 minutes walking distance - leave your car behind and relax into village life. We are also well-placed between mountains, sea, lakes, rivers, gorges, the Canal du Midi, vibrant cities, historic towns and picturesque villages. And if that's not enough, there are family attractions too. You won't have enough time to explore the richness the area has to offer, but you can try!

Excellent week Away
A very nice Gite, which was a home from home with everything you needed available. It was a lot larger than we expected, so lots of space for everyone. We had a nice relaxing week with family, a couple of days out and plenty of time around the small pool which is a bonus to cool down from the heat of the day. The Gite was even cool during the day which helped make it comfortable. Lovely hosts Jill & Richard who where discreet but on hand to help with any advice, questions or table bookings. A big recommendation from me and the family.
well appointed, lovely gite with heated pool
We stayed for a week with two young children and had a lovely time.
Gill & Richard are considerate and discrete hosts and very good a accomodating our specific needs and making suitable recommendations for activities and restaurants.
Neffies is a very pretty village in a beautiful location ideal for site-seeing and wine-tasting. Lovely beaches are within easy reach and the short drive to Montpelier airport made for easy transfers.
The gite is in excellent condition with a kitchen kitted out by someone who likes to cook, along with basics like oil, seasoning and tin foil etc, it makes life very easy.
The court yard garden is a lovely spot to sunbathe or enjoy a meal with a glass of wine whilst watching the swifts overhead.
So glad that you enjoyed your holiday and time with us in Neffies. We enjoyed sharing the delights of this delightful area of France with you, and thank you for your perecptive comments - yes, I do enjoy cooking! C'est la vie!
This Gite has everything you need.
Our group of four adults stayed in this Gite for four nights on the start of our way through France and into Italy for a family wedding. What a great start to our holiday. It is such a relaxing and peaceful place, with a great pool and courtyard. The Gite is spacious and well equipped with everything you might need.
Jill and Richard are the perfect owners who helped us with many things including directions to places, interpreting, and directing us to the best wine shops!
Thank Jill and Richard, we will return soon.
Pat, Tony, Pat and Mick.
I'm so glad we were able to provide you with a relaxing start to your holiday and wedding adventure. It was lovely to meet you all, and hopefully next time you will be able to stay longer. Glad the wine for the wedding went down well!
We look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Jill & Richard
We have just had a fantastic fortnight in this villa. It is well equipped with everything you could need and more! The very generous welcome pack (including wine, fruit and essentials such as coffee, milk, bread etc) was most appreciated. Jill and Richard were fantastic hosts and their recommendations of places to eat, sights to see, and local events were all 'spot on' and enabled us to make the most of our visit. The village of Neffies is beautiful with two good restaurants, a bakery and a small supermarket. We made full use of the lovely pool and barbecue and found the outside area perfect for both the sun lovers in our party and those of us who prefer a shady spot to read a book or chill out with a beer or wine. We were all sorry to leave after our fortnight and will be recommending th villa to family and friends.
Fab holiday destination
A lovely gite in an excellent area. We wanted a gite in a village location central for sight seeing and we were not disappointed. The gite was clean and very well equipped. The pool, courtyard and eating area was a nice place to relax with friends and we made good use of the BBQ. The owners Jill and Richard lived on site and clearly wanted their guests to get the most out of their holiday. Jill had put together a comprehensive tourist information folder, including details about the village, local attractions and events. We loved the village restaurant Le Very'table and had fantastic meals there at reasonable cost. We have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone wanting good accommodation in this beautiful area of France!
Fantastic holiday; lovely gite
We've stayed at a number of properties selected from Owners Direct, and this one is up there with the best. I endorse the comments of the other review: the gite is of a large size with plenty of room indoors and out. Bedrooms are a good size. And the place was spotlessly clean. Having the private pool right by the door is fantastic - it's cold when you get in but worth it! Provision of pool towels and pool toys is a great idea by Jill and Richard.
The courtyard is not huge but comfortable for 4-6 sunbathers (remember the sun doesn't get as high in Sept and probably May, so there will be shade). And definitely big enough for BBQ, meals outside etc.
Jill and Richard are great hosts. They live on site but respect your privacy and space, but are available for advice or help if you need it. There is lots of tourist info in the gite, along with a very full and informative folder, from when the rubbish is collected to where to visit to local restaurants in a variety of villages.
The kitchen is very well equipped and you could easily prepare and cook all your meals here. Jill and Richard provided a good basic larder which included wine (basic?), water, juice, fruit, cheese, milk, bread plus tea/coffee, and oil, condiments etc. But eat out... L'Escampette and L'Very Table in the village are fantastic but book in advance. Jill booked our first night table for us and took a load of worry off!
I completely agree with all the comments on the site about location to towns, tourist sites etc. It is a perfect base to explore the area. 90 mins to Carcasonne, 45 mins to Montpelier, 30 mins to the beach and not that far from mountains, vineyards etc.
Sandy Mediterranean beaches with safe shallow seas, water sports, seafood restaurants and a lively buzz in the bars and cafes, are a 30 minute drive away. Choose between town beaches with their family attractions, long sandy stretches backed by nothing more than sand dunes, or small pine-fringed coves. Alternatively, there are river beaches in picturesque settings, lakes in the National Park (all within 30 mins) and a swimming lake with a communal BBQ just 10 minutes away at Vailhan.
The region is well served by low-cost operators with driving time to the property being:
Béziers 20 mins
Montpellier 45 mins
Perpignan 1 hour 15 mins
Carcassonne 1 hour 15 mins
Nimes 1 hour 45 mins
Toulouse 2 hours
Girona 2 hours 15 mins
Barcelona 3 hours
Although a bus runs between Neffiès and Pézenas twice a day, car hire is strongly recommended.
Pézenas 10 mins
Béziers 20 mins
Cap d'Agde, Marseillan 30 mins
Roquebrun 30 mins
Capestang & the Canal du Midi 30 mins
Clermont L'Hérault & Lac du Salagou 35 mins
St Guillem le Desert & the Hérault gorges 35 mins
Caves & grottoes 35 mins
Montpellier 45 mins
Carcassonne 1 hour 15 mins
Pyrennes & Spanish border 1hour 30 mins
Neffiès is a medieval "circulade" village surrounded by vineyards, with everything on your doorstep. Apart from the bakers and mini market, a variety of vans visit on a Thursday morning selling fresh seafood, cheese, charcuterie, fruit & veg, direct from the producers. At the village "cave" you can sample local wines and produce, or visit the many surrounding wine Domaines for "degustation" (tasting). In the evening, a short walk will take you to a choice of two excellent dining options: there are great views from the family-friendly bar/bistro (L'Escampette), which serves French fare lunchtimes and evenings. The restaurant (Le Very'table), is more fine dining, but equally as friendly and good value, offering menus in different price ranges.
The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking - we can show you our favourites - especially when the spring flowers are in bloom. Canoeing and kayaking are available in the Orb and Hérault rivers, or you could hire a bike and go cycling along the tow paths of the Canal du Midi.
Visit the ancient market town of Pézenas, with it's atmospheric old quarter, artist's studios, boutiques and restaurants. There's a great market here on Saturday mornings, and during the summer, Friday evening wine tasting events coincide with the shops staying open until midnight.
Almost every weekend throughout the summer there are fêtes in one of the local villages. These can range from a simple al fresco dinner to more elaborate affairs involving flamenco dancing, live bands and even bull running. Beziers hosts the most exuberant event, with the annual August Feria lasting several days and attracting thousands of visitors.
Taking to the coast, apart from the lovely beaches, there are also picturesque fishing ports renowned for their seafood. Family attractions here include a Dinosaur Park, an African Animal reserve, Aqualand water park and the Aquarium at Montpellier.
Explore the bustling port of Sete and watch the local spactacle of water jousting. Meander through the narrow cobbled streets of Montpellier with its shady squares and exclusive boutiques. Or simply relax by your own pool.
