The kitchen comes complete with all modern conveniences including: dishwasher, microwave oven, separate fridge and freezer and beautiful granite worksurfaces and bespoke cupboards. The side hatch off the kitchen is perfect for feeding the ducks and swans who swim right up to the hatch expecting to be fed! The saloon area has a plasma 42' Satellite TV, DVD player, wifi (sim card needs to be purchased) and a fuel burner stove to keep you warm in the cooler months. About Jane Asher

Boat GEANNA was designed by us to be unique accommodation for our guests and to be as user friendly as possible so guests can experience life on a boat but with all the modern comforts and conveniences of home. Having successfully rented our villa in Turkey for 7 years, we wanted to transfer that experience on to the River Thames, a bit closer to home and with out all those airport queues! We also understood that our guests are not necessarily 'boating' types and would have no former boating knowledge. The boat is designed to be as safe as possible making it ideal for families with children. there are no complicated sea toilets to worry about. At the handover, we give a comprehensive handover so that you feel at home living on board a boat with all the expected comforts of 4 star accommodation.

Jane Asher purchased this boat in 2007

Why Jane Asher chose South Oxfordshire

Boat Geanna was built to our specific requirements with our guests in mind. We have ensured that the standard of accommodation is high with proper beds and with each cabin having ensuite bathrooms. We understood that guests like their privacy and so have made the 3 cabins completely separate with their own door. We also understood that guests would be wanting to use electricity for hair dryers etc and so ensured a a 5000KW generator was installed and solar panels. the boat has 2 hot water tanks, enabling guests to enjoy hot water showers without running out of hot water. Each cabin has its own plasma TV, hair dryer, just like what you would expect in a hotel.

What makes this boat unique

GEANNA is cosy and warm in the winter with fuel burner and radiators throughout. People always ask 'Do you get cold on your boat?' The answer is quite the opposite, the boat is so well insulated and heated it can be almost too warm! The boat is light and airy and the outside decks provide cushioned seats to enjoy the stunning views as you cruise along. The layout is perfect for friends holidaying together or families and if there are more than 11 in your party, you can always book our other boat GINA and moor them alongside. This is definitely a Wind In The Willows experience!

Guestbook comments from the owner

From start to finish this turned out to beat many 5 star hotel holidays we had all taken. Firstly the hosts are attentive, lovely and fun. They gave us 2 informed fabulous river trips. Would thoroughly recommend the Henley to Reading stretch. The lovely welcome and the superb, well equipped standard of the boat - just as described on the website, makes it easy to take to the water instantly. Little extras like soap, tea bags and even a dishwasher tablet was the icing. The spaciousness and comfort of the main room in the boat is the surprise. And how can one not enjoy croissants, fresh coffee and the papers on a river, with a bank for a bar/b/q and restaurants to die for. We ate at The Crooked Billet, Phyllis Court and Orwells. All brilliant. All of us slept like babies and felt so relaxed as if we had taken a week off. Our ages ranged from 21 - 86yrs old! And we all LOVED it. This truly is a holiday for everyone. What a gem..... and we all agreed we were thrilled to avoid airports and shall return.

We loved this boat!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four truly loved our 4 night mid-week stay on Geanna. Jane was very helpful to explain the details of the boat upon our arrival. The beds were very comfortable, and everything was very clean. We were surprised at how calm the water was at night, as well as during the day. We loved walking into town along the river, and enjoyed many of the different restaurants. Henly was the perfect location to be moored - it is such a charming town! It was also convinient to day trips to Windsor, Oxford, and Highclere Castle with our rental car. On our last evening, we were given a two hour cruise which was beautiful. I would recommend this rental as a truly unique and fun opportunity, and would rent it again in a heartbeat!

Thoroughly recommend this boat cruise. We did the Beale Park cruise and had so much fun kayaking.... it's started us on a new hobby. Kids had a great time.... play station was a big hit!" Jeanette & Don from Winkfield

This is a self drive boating holiday with a unique difference. Our boat is a luxury Canal widebeam, fitted to an exceptionally high standard, an ideal holiday for families or groups of friends holidaying together.Pets are welcome too.

You pick the boat up from our base in Caversham where there is a secure locked car park. Following tuition in driving the boat, your holiday starts and you can experience the freedom of choosing where to cruise and moor. Why not cruise to Henley-On-Thames and moor in beautiful parkland setting, only a 5 minute walk to Henley town centre. The River Rowing Museum in Henley provides interest for all the family. The parks on the banks of the Thames at Henley provide ample space for children to play, family picnics or dog walking. All amenities are within walking distance.

Then continue cruising through picturesque Hurley, passing the millionaire houses, beautiful Chiltern countryside and moor in historic Marlow. Then onwards to Windsor and visit the castle or LEGOLAND for the children. For week breaks, why not cruise to Hampton Court and moor outside Hampton Court palace?

Alternatively, cruise upstream and moor overnight in Pangbourne and then up to Goring and for week breaks or longer, why not pay a visit to historic Oxford and moor right in the centre. The choice is yours. There is so much to see and do and experience on a self drive holiday and the widebeam gives you all the space you need with no cramped living conditions and private cabins for you all as well.

There is nothing quite like waking up to the sounds of wildlife and seeing herons, swans and other birds.

For those of you wishing to attend the Henley Royal Regatta or the annual 80's rewind Music festival, Boat Geanna is the perfect way to arrive in style and moor right in the heart of the action. For those of you wishing to travel further afield, why not take a short drive and visit the local winery or Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) or the Harry Potter Studios film set.

The choice is yours!
