Apartment in Balaia Golf Village, Albufeira, Central Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location Close To Golf Club House And Pool.

The apartment is modern, airy and well equipped, situated on the first floor and well equipped with full cooking and washing facilities. In addition to the sunny terrace overlooking the golf course, which has a range of furniture and a large awning, there is

a larger terrace to the side of the apartment

which enjoys the early morning and afternoon sun. It has air conditioning throughout, a wood-burning stove and electric heaters for winter months. There is a charcoal barbecue, satellite TV/DVD with main English-language channels including Sky Sports 1&2 and Family Movies. There is ample car parking directly

outside. All the facilities of the Golf Village (choice of six pool complexes, golf club house

and restaurant, main restaurant, gymnasium,

indoor pool and reception, tennis courts) are

within a few minutes' walk through attractive,

established grounds. There is also a

supermarket, cafe and hair salon at the

entrance and other larger supermarkets a

short drive away.

About The Owner

I and my wife are both retired and now havethe time to travel more easily and to spend time in our lovely apartment.

We have lived and worked abroad twice and love travel and meeting new people. Portugal is one of our favourite destinations. We have

been coming to Portugal (not just the

Algarve) repeatedly since first camping

nearby in 1980.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2003

Why The Owner chose Albufeira

We came to Balaia first as visitors, renting out an apartment. The attractively landscaped grounds with its mature trees and shrubs, the uncluttered lay-out of the development and the range of facilities on offer are what persuaded us to think of purchasing our own

apartment. It is within easy reach of a range

of beautiful sandy beaches and other places of interest.

What makes this apartment unique

We spend out time at Balaia in relaxation, pleasant walks, swimming, golf, bird-watching, meals alone and with friends and vising places of historic or cultural interest.

Balaia is well situated away from the bustle of

Albufeira and Vilamoura, but within easy

reach of them.

Our large side terrace is a great place for having a barbecue or relaxing in private on a lounger. We love swimming in the warm waters, playing golf and enjoying the Portuguese countryside and people.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is classified by the Portuguese authorities as "T2 Superior" in view of the quality of the accommodation and range of equipment. It is well maintained, light and airy. Cot and highchair may be hired via Reception. Free wi-fi access is available in the apartment: simply request the code on check-in Outside: There is a good range of outside furniture including table and six chairs, two loungers, awning, parasol, and a charcoal barbecue. There is a choice of six pool complexes across Balaia Golf Village, with the nearest 100 metres away. The golf club house, also 100 metres away, serves breakfasts, has a snack menu throughout the day and serves meals some evenings. The Veranda restaurant is located at reception. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble drier, iron, ironing board, range of cleaning equipment, some beach equipment, clothes basket and airer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included; you will need your own beach towels. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly by the maids. If you require additional linen changes or maid service (cleaning) this can be arranged at Reception for a small charge

Excellent holiday apartment

The accommodation was excellent and for us 10/10. Very well equipped, clean and a lovely view across the golf range. Desmond the owner was very helpful from the start of the booking until the end of our holiday. He was readily available to answer questions and sort out minor problems. The property is towards the top of the complex so a little further to walk but that didn't really bother us too much. We liked being by the golf course. The nearest pool was a few minutes away. The staff at Balaia were very friendly and helpful except the lady in the golf shop - whilst she was okay she could have been more friendly and welcoming but the guy in the shop was very friendly so made up for it. Overall the apartment was excellent and Desmond the owner very helpful. We will definitely return to this apartment.

There are many attractive sandy beaches close by backed by the hallmark Algarve orange cliffs. Nearest is Maria Luisa, across the road from Balaia and 10 minutes walk from Reception. Santa Eulalia is about 20 minutes walk, with ample car-parking at the beach. Olhos da Agua village a few minutes drive away has an attractive beach and ample car parking close to the beach in a multi-

storey carpark. All the beaches have cafes or

restaurants, sunshades, loungers and lifeguards during the main season.


The nearest airport is Faro which is approximately 30-35 minutes drive. While car hire is not essential it adds greatly to visiting surrounding areas. Taxis are readily available. A return journey to Albufeira costs 12-15 Euros. There is a regular bus service in both directions with stops close to reception. Balaia can provide transport from and to the airport in a minibus for groups for around 35 Euros each way.


Oura (outskirts of Albufeira) is about 20 minutes walk or 3 minutes drive. Olhos da Agua is about 30 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. Vilamoura is some 15-20 minutes drive. Silves, Paderne, Lagoa, Portimao and the main Algarve waterparks are all within easy reach for half-day excursions.

Further Details:

There is a restaurant on site and a wide range of restaurants offering different cuisine along the main road and in Olhos, Oura and Albufeira. Dutch, Thai, Indian, Chinese and Indonesian restaurants jostle with Portuguese and other European styles. There are numerous snack bars. There is a supermarket at the entrance to the development and others within a short distance. One of the Algarve's hypermarkets, Algarve Shopping Centre, is about 20 minutes drive away. Sir Cliff Richard's vineyard, the Adega do Cantor is quite close to the hypermarket

and tours are provided. The nearest cashpoint is in a nearby supermarket and there are many cashpoints in the towns. Reception can give advice on medical or dental services available in

the immediate area.

Despite being a centre of tourism, the area has a great variety of bird life and there are a number of bird reserves with hides a short drive away. There are also much evidence of earlier times, dating back to the Romans and many historical buildings in the various older towns along the coast and inland.
