About Chris Daltrey
The Daltrey family consists of Chris and Kim (Dad and Mum), Jack, Samantha, Georgina and Vanessa (children -only now grown up, except for Vanessa!) and Sheba our dog. I suppose I should also include Vanessa's guinea pigs as well. We love our house in France and consider it to be a small corner of paradise. We all like being outdoors and trying to get the most out of life. We like France, French people and culture. We think that you will love our house as much as we do. We like things to be authentic and not to have too many of the unnecessary distractions which are so often the focus of modern life. We like to socialise together and enjoy each others company, particularly around to some good food and wine.
Chris Daltrey purchased this House in 2004
Why Chris Daltrey chose Civray-sur-Esves
The house is set in the lovely little village of Civray-sur-Esves and is located next to the church and the Marie. A big range of local shops and supermarkets are only 15 minutes away in the town of Descartes (birth place of Rene Descartes, the philosopher). There is so much to see and do in the area, including visits to many of the wonderful chateaux in the area and the leisure centre in Descartes, with its swimming pools and mini golf. There are many rivers in the area and the walking is excellent. The region is well known for its superb produce and fine cuisine.
What makes this House unique
The house is lovely and spacious and has period features and character. In the garden, which is about 1acre, there is a fabulous grass tennis court, boules court and areas to play and BBQ. Toys and games are provided for use in the garden. The garden is full of fruit trees, shrubs and hebaceous borders. Parents and children will love it. There is a lovely view of a local chateau from the back of the garden. There is a log fire in the second lounge. There is a selection of DVDs, books and videos in the house.

Lovely house in quiet rural setting
Have just returned from a week in this lovely property. The house is a comfortable family home and it was easy to settle in and enjoy facilities available both in the house and the superb garden. The children enjoyed the space to play outside. Lots of equipment both inside and outside which the owners emphasised could all be used. We all enjoyed the peace and quiet. Owners were really helpful with answering queries. Thanks - we had a great time!
It's Really Nice
My family and I spent a week over New Year at this Gite. There were 8 of us, plus a dog, and the gite is big enough to accommodate that number of people easily.
We enjoyed all of it. There are large gardens, bikes for all, patio, large rooms, and the most wonderful log fire! A kitchen table that can sit all of you in one go. TV & Videos, and everything that you could wish for.
It's situated in a tiny one street village, where not a lot happens. However, it is so central for the Loire region. You are within easy travelling distance of Loche, Amboise, Tours, and all the amenities in this part of France.
Having stayed at a number of gites, I would say that this one is what I would call, a 'good sized family gite'. If you're looking for sumptuous near hotel luxury, then pass on by. However, if you are looking for a 'home from home' in the middle of France, in one of the nicest areas of the country...where you can relax and unwind. Then this gite will give you what you want.
Enjoyed a lovely stay in Civray with friends and family in July. Nice walks and cycles and very very quiet. A nice change from the holiday resort stay and we enjoyed it as a follow up to a resort on the coast. Thanks to the owners for their flexible check in and out hours. Well done on your choice of a house in France, it is wonderful.
Special interest holidays:
The grass tennis court in the garden is of a high standard and would appeal to the keen tennis player. However, please note that as the court is on grass, it is not available all year.

The closest town is Descartes (9km) and then Saint Maure de Touraine (10Km). Both towns have a full range of services. The nearest cities are Tours (35 mins) and Poitiers (50 mins).
