Sitting peacefully amongst farmland with lovely views towards the south. The pretty garden is totally secluded. Why Patricia Tucker chose Malborough

lovely little cottage in a great location
This is a lovely little cottage in a great location for beautiful coastal walks. Tricia was so helpful with recommendations of where to visit and where to eat. We even had a homemade cake to welcome us when we arrived (which was delicious!). Lovely walk to Salcombe where we took advantage of the free ferry ticket provided by Tricia & Tim. We can also recommend the stunning walk to Hope Cove (although our 2 children were shattered by the time we got back to the cottage!) Brunch at the Winking Prawn in Salcombe was great, as was lunch at the Victoria Inn. After a long, wet walk, the hot chocolates we had at the Soar Mill Cove hotel, down the hill, were also delicious! Dartmouth is worth a visit, but for us, this area is all about the lovely walks and great beaches. The only slight downside of the cottage is that the walls between the cottage and the main house are quite thin. All in all a great half term week in Devon!
Beautiful location. Lovely hosts.
Charming cottage. Owners have thought of everything you could need. Lovely and clean. Very comfortable. Very welcoming. Beautiful location for walking the coast path and not having to use the car.
Many thanks Heather X Tricia
Everything we hoped for
We had a wonderful week in this gorgeous ,cosy cottage . We love the location , just away from the crowds of Salcombe but near to everywhere we wanted to go.
It is very comfortable and well equiped , beautifully clean and well presented. . We enjoyed a quiet privicy whilst knowing any thing we wanted or needed was at hand from our delightful owners .Can highly recommend this rental.
Fantastic home from home in a wonderful location.
We had a brilliant stay here made even better by Tricia, our wonderful host. We were greeted with a smile and a home made easter cake!
The property is probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed, well looked after with a beautiful garden. The garden is enclosed which was ideal for our little boy and beyond that is a field with a pond and geese which delighted our son. We had to drag him away from the window the first evening!
The kitchen is well equipped, sofas and beds very comfortable. We also made use of the free ferry pass a few times which was lovely and something we perhaps wouldn't have done without having the pass!
We had a brilliant stay and enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. We were lucky with the weather but had we not been we wouldn't have minded staying cosy in the cottage. Thank you Tricia, we hope to be back soon!
Hi Ellie, Thank you for such a lovely review and we are so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay so much. It makes it all worth while!!
I do hope you really will come back and perhaps this time, in the summer when it is warmer for Louie AND ?.....to go on the beach.
Best wishes and to Luke, Louise and Nick.

Beautiful location. Mr and Mrs Tucker were both very welcoming and helpful. They were helpful on information for restaurants and places to visit. Ideal location for lovely costal walks. The cottage was clean, bright and well equipped.
So pleased that you enjoyed your New Year break. Hope to see you in the summer! Tricia
We enjoyed our week in your farmhouse very much. Your cottage is charming, comfortable, wonderfully equipped, and with a delightful outlook. It more than met expectations. We were blessed with lovely weather and enjoyed visiting much of the beautiful countryside in the area, including the views from your ferry. We shall not hesitate to recommend to others. Thank you too for your warm welcome – not to mention the delicious cake!
Thank you for the lovely review, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that the weather was kind! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and hope that you will stay with us again in the near future.
After a 15 minute walk down to Soar Mill Cove you will find a beautiful, unspoilt sandy beach with rockpools a plenty. A 25 minute walk will bring you to South Sands Beach, famous for its unique Sea Tractor and Ferry that takes you into Salcombe town centre every half hour. Guests enjoy unlimited free rides on this Ferry (owned by us)! The Blue Flag beach has a luxury hotel, a beach cafe and watersports facilities. Salcombe and the South Hams area boast many more excellent beaches.

In Malborough Village the local store sells a wide range of groceries, freshly baked bread, wine, etc. Salcombe has a range of excellent shops, including a butcher, fishmonger and many clothes shops. Locally caught Crab and Lobster are available to buy from the fishermen in Island Street. For larger supermarkets the nearby town of Kingsbridge has a new Tescos and Morrisons as well as a very attractive High Street with Boots, Smiths, Costas etc and a range of interesting local shops Delis. Kingsbridge also has a Leisure Centre and weekly outdoor markets. Just down the road is a newly refurbised large Co-op
There are many lovely places to eat out in the vicinity of Salcombe, whether you fancy a full english breakfast overlooking the water at the Winking Prawn, a Devonshire cream tea at the South Sands Hotel or a meal at one of the town's numerous restaurants. Should you just wish to have a drink there are many good local pubs.
Salcombe is a well known centre for sailing and other watersports, from waterskiing lessons to Mackerel fishing trips and Estuary cruises. A few miles away at Bantham and Bigbury are two of England's foremost surfing beaches, both with surf schools and equipment hire available. There really is something for everyone on the water.
For walkers the area really is idyllic. From the cottage, footpaths connect you to the National Trust Coastal Path which in turn leads to the NT Overbecks House and Botanical Garden, home of a world famous Magnolia. In the other direction Hope Cove and onwards. A little further afield is Dartmoor National Park complete with Tors and ponies.
The area is well known for its bird life, the cottage was even graced with a flypast from two Bustards (part of the reintroduced birds from Sailsbury Plain).
The cottage is a firm favourite for Astronomers, with no other houses between us and France. The clarity of the night sky with no light pollution, has to be seen to be believed.
