About the property

Byre @ Warkworth - a cottage that sleeps 3/4 guests in 2 bedrooms

The Byre @ Warkworth is a newly converted dairy, set in its own enclosed garden in the grounds of the owners house. The property has been in the family's ownership for over a 100 years. The Byre is approx 1 mile from the centre of Warkworth, a pretty village dominated by its wonderful castle, its main street with independent retailers, shops, pubs and eateries, a beautiful church and stone bridge over the river, along which is a dog friendly riverside walk. The owners have used locally sourced materials to incorporate during the property's renovation so it offers many original features like beams, flagstones etc, an eclectic mix of traditional style furnishings and vintage and modern items throughout. Large expanse of wide opening glass doors lead from the enclosed private courtyard as an entrance into the open plan lounge dining kitchen. The patio is lushly planted and this area makes for a lovely seating area to enjoy the outside space for an alfresco breakfast or sundowners in the evening. Open plan lounge dining kitchen provides high ceilings, beams and offers comfy leather sofa & chairs, wood burning stove a cosy feature particularly for autumn and winter stays. In the kitchen there is a rustic kitchen island, cooker, fdgeridf/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is also an oak dining table and chairs, a good selection of books, games etc along with wi-fi. Off the lounge area area two bedrooms, both have one step down from the main living area. One double, one small single with an additional second single bed on request, the sleeping arrangements are for 3 adults or 2 adults & up to 2 young children or an infant. Shower room (wet room style).

Parking for up to 2 cars off road.

Notes and Special Conditions:

Missed opportunity

  • 4 of 5

The Byre is a very attractive property which was found to be in excellent order throughout although the accommodation was slightly smaller than I had hoped for particularly the bedrooms.

We did enjoy our stay as Warkworth really is an idyllic village but was disappointed that the owner felt the need to try and overcharge me when we asked about extending our stay from 4 nights to 5.

The garden area and patio does afford privacy but I did still feel that it was very evident that we were situated within the owner’s garden. Maybe it was just unfortunate that at the time of our stay they had a number of visitors but could possibly have done without someone using what sounded like a vacuum outside our bedroom window at 7.45am on a Sunday morning.

Beautiful cosy base in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The Byre is a fantastic place to stay and explore the Northumberland coastline. You feel at home the moment you walk through the door and the property is beautifully decorated with everything you might need for any type of weather ( we saw it all). The owners too are very friendly and helpful. The beach us a short walk and ideal for dog walking.

An excellent stay in Warkworth!

  • 5 of 5

The Byre is a lovely cosy cottage which proved ideal for our stay.

Very well appointed with everything you could need. Absolutely spotless throughout.

The location was great for us to visit nearby Warkworth village and to walk along the glorious beaches.

Our dog enjoyed the stay and the lane provided us with a safe route to walk.

Our hosts were lovely and provided a sumptuous welcome pack on our arrival.

This is a cottage we would love to revisit.

Great location close to sea and local facilities.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at the Byre inspite of wet weather. The accommodation was cosy and provided everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. There was a lovely patio garden and a covered area which I'm sure would have been nice in hot weather but was equally handy for hanging out wet rain coats and soggy dog towels. On the Sunday Elizabeth, the owner did some baking and brought us two delicious scones. We found the Byre to be quite private even though it was on the owners property. Warkworth is really well placed;there are lovely walks from the property and other pretty coastal and inland towns within easy reach. We would happily book this property again.

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Byre @ Warkworth for our 1st family holiday. Everything was provided that you could think of and the welcome basket was a lovely touch, cake and chocolates delicious.

We'd asked for the baby items for our 6 month old and these were all provided, saved us transporting extra items. And

Chris and Elizabeth were lovely making sure that we were settled with our baby and that we were comfortable.

Outside garden area is beautiful especially when the sun came out. We even had a few strawberries.

It's a lovely walk to the beach (about 10mins) or into the village. Great location to explore Northumberland.

Location

Situated on the outskirts of the pretty riverside village of Warkworth, approx half a mile from the centre, with its pubs and restaurants, close to the riverside walk, and the historic "hermitage" accessible only by row boat.

Ideal for Castle, village amenities, and just 3 miles from the town of Amble to the South, for shops, small supermarkets, more pubs and restaurants.

Excellent area for walking, beaches etc and just a short drive to the town of Alnwick with its castle, and the North Northumberland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
