The Mill Farm is a charming large cottage, tucked away in the Millook valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has a private, south-facing and sheltered garden bounded by a small stream and surrounded by 10 acres of fields. The house is well equipped with modern facilities but retains its original character with its beams, inglenook fireplace and two wood burning stoves. This is a perfect location for those seeking peace and quiet. There are stunning walks both inland and along the coastal path but for the more energetic a surfing/adventure centre is close by at Widemouth and the small holiday town of Bude 5 miles away provides shops, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, horse riding, golf and an indoor leisure centre and pool.

Beautiful and tranquil
Beautiful tranquil property, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Clean and inviting so quiet you could hear an apple drop from the tree in the beautiful grounds. Remotely situated has plenty of parking on site. The drive to the house is along a narrow road with some tight spots to negotiate but once you have driven this route a few times and respect the local driving rules a toot from the horn now and then - it’s a breeze. No local shop so take all you need with you a lovely big Morrison, Lidl and Sainsbury’s in Bude plus an array of quaint local shops and bakers to buy those important pasties. Plenty of room in the cottage for all your shopping. 2 mins from a pebble beach. 10 mins from Widemouth beach and about 15 mins from Bude town centre. Car parks available for about £6 per day. The main beach and shops are walkable from car parks. The Hills either side of property are perfect for keeping fit views are stunning from coastal position. Idyllic
Beautiful property in unique and tranquil setting.
We had a wonderful holiday, and Mill Farm is so beautiful. So peaceful and quiet with just the sound of the waves in the cove and the skylarks above. We enjoyed the beaches at Widmouth and Bude town, but the garden at the cottage is so perfect for soaking up the sun and relaxing that we also spent a lot of time there.
We also had the most fantastic day taking the boat trip to Lundy. We sat for lunch on the cliffs and watched seals playing on the rocks below and Puffins darting back and forth fishing together. I would definitely recommend this as an excursion. On the cooler days we explored the coastal paths and from Millook and also from Port Isacc to Port Quin and back, which makes a nice circular route.
The house was beautifully presented throughout and was very clean and tidy until we arrived. It has all the character and charm of a historic property, with sympathetic extension providing smart new bathrooms and kitchen facilities. It is very well equipped for the larger group, as we are used to taking sharp knives and large frying pan with us when we are self catering but here none of these there were required.
The descriptions were accurate and Owners were a delight to deal with. Very helpful and accommodating throughout.
We are sure that we will be looking to return again as Mill Farm was perfect for us as a family.
We are delighted you had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed
spending time in our holiday cottage as much as we do!
The perfect home from home in an idyllic location
The Mill Farm is that perfect combination of a traditional Cornish farmhouse - slate floors, exposed beams - and a modern luxurious house - state-of-the-art kitchen, bathrooms etc. When we arrived, the house was spick and span throughout and all the beds made up for us; I could not fault the cleanliness of the entire property and neatness of the gardens.
I have stayed at The Mill Farm for many years and have always found the owner incredibly courteous and helpful, exceeding expectations in quality of service and willingness to accommodate any special requests.
Millook Bay has a beautiful, isolated beach, just a short walk from the house, which has a surface of either rounded stones and pebbles or coarse sand, depending on the whim of the sea. It has lots of pools for exploring and rocks to climb, which should keep any child happy for hours. Though Millook itself is quiet and isolated, there are towns and villages with all sorts of attraction within an easy driving distance, or for the more adventurous, a stout walk along the Cornish Cliff Path, itself a wonderful asset for the area.
I would have no hesitation in recommending The Mill Farm to any of my relatives or friends - or indeed anyone who is looking for somewhere quiet, comfortable, well-appointed and very special to stay.
We went to Cornwall during the May half term for a family wedding and were fortunate to stay at Mill Farm, our party consisted of 3 adults and 3 children. The photos and description are very accurate and actually don't do this beautiful place justice, it is an absolutely stunning house in a gorgeous setting. Mill Farm is possibly one of the cleanest holiday homes we have stayed in and contains everything you need for a relaxing, quiet holiday.
Roz was extremely helpful from the outset of the booking last year, she answered our many questions we had regarding our stay and she continued to be available on the telephone if needed during our holiday. We requested two extra nights at the end of our holiday due to the wedding date over running our booked week and Roz was able to accommodate this once she knew the days were clear. We are so grateful for this and it made our holiday and the wedding extra special.
We spent most of our time exploring the stunning coastal path which you can walk to within two minutes and the views are spectacular. The beaches in the surrounding area are quiet and unspoiled. We took a stroll to Millock beach every evening to watch the sun go down and we highly recommend this, it is just stunning. We went to Widemouth Bay and Black Rock to explore the rock pools and enjoyed the cafes for lunch. If you like walking we recommend joining the coastal path at Crackington Haven we found a circular walk that ended up back at the Coombe Barton Inn where the food and sea views are both outstanding and the bar staff super friendly and accommodating.
We spent most evenings cooking and eating at Mill Farm which was perfect after exploring the surrounding coastal area.
The nearest supermarkets are in Bude which is a 10 minute drive away. Bude also has everything else you may need including some delicious pasty shops!!
Our teenagers had a fantastic holiday too and the only thing they were concerned about was the wifi, occasionally it would fail but this was very rare. Although for the parents it was bliss!!
We are already considering a return trip to Mill Farm and Millock and can't wait to rebook. We would love to take our dog with us as we know he would love it too however we understand why no pets are permitted.
We would like to thank Roz and her sister for letting out and sharing such an incredible house and stunning gardens!!
The Craig Family
Roz and I are delighted you enjoyed your stay at the Mill Farm. We love sharing our holiday home which has now been in our family for over 60 years. We were sorry and surprised to hear about the occasional WiFi problems. I think you were unlucky but I am afraid we are subject to the vagaries of BT!
A great week - we loved it!
We went to Millook with another family of school friends - the husbands were working so it was mums and boys and we had the most brilliant week.
The cottage is charmingly old fashioned yet with all the mod cons you could want. The two sitting rooms were v helpful if someone wanted some quiet time with a book. The kitchen as a really good size and we all sat together for meals in the dining room. It was great having plenty of bath rooms - no queues and the downstairs laundry room and shower room are perfect for sandy kit or hanging wet suits if you're coming straight from the beach.
We went to Bude and Widemouth and Black Rock often and spent a day at the Launceston country show. We would have gone to Bodmin if we'd stayed longer but there was so much to do. We had the most brilliant afternoon at Tintagel - I'd never been and the boys loved it - stopping at Crackington Haven and Boscastle for refreshments.
After a hectic last few weeks of term this was a heavenly wind down for everyone - it's completely peaceful and sheltered. We loved the small shingle beach down the road at the end of the drive. We meant to take some photos of the rock formation there for school because it's very rare but we didn't manage to squeeze it in - next time!!
There is nothing but good to say and we would love to go again - our one small point in terms of the kitchen is that it would have been nice just to have a few store cupboard basics - salt / pepper / cooking oil / flour so you don't have to bring absolutely everything only to use it once or twice and pack it all up again. But it's a minor point.
Roz is delightful and a wonderful host. Thank you from all of us for a great stay

Charming cottage in a beautiful location
Wanting to show relatives from abroad this wonderful part of England, we were looking for a picturesque location by the sea, surrounded by beautiful countryside, and a charming Cornish Cottage to accommodate 2 families. Mill Farm was exactly what we were looking for and exceeded our expectations by far.
Mill Farm is situated in the beautiful Millook valley, only a few minutes walk from the beach. The setting is idyllic, far away from the bustle of everyday life. Widemouth Bay and Bude are just down the road and perfect for some shopping, a day on the beach or some surfing. Despite the longer distances to the south (Lizard Point and Lands End were a long drive) we managed to explore the whole of Cornwall (as well as Dartmoor and Exeter), and always looked forward to returning to Mill Farm in the evening. The cottage is also on the coastal path which offers stunning views of the coast and surrounding area. We walked to Bude, which took about 2.5 hours, but it was well worth it.
The house was very clean and tidy on arrival, and we immediately felt at home. It offers a mix of old and new, and we loved the wooden beams, low ceilings and window seats. It is very comfortable, ideal for two families, and equipped with everything one could need on holiday. There´s everything from a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, to board games for the kids, books, body boards for the beach, a BBQ and much more. Three bathrooms and two sitting rooms meant that everyone had their own space and could relax.
I must also mention the wonderful communication and service, without which this wonderful holiday would not have been possible.
Thank you Roz and Helen.
Millook: dramatic cliff formations, rock pools, shingle and surfing for the real expert only, fishing at high tide (5 minutes walk).
Widemouth Bay: 2 sandy beaches, lifeguards in high season, surfing (3 miles)
Bude: sandy beaches, sea water tidal swimming pool, lifeguards in high season, surfing (5 miles).
Crackington Haven: rocky and sandy beach good for surfing.
Car essential as public transport is limited. The house is about 4 miles from the A39 at Wainhouse Corner and once off the main road the approach is along narrow, twisting lanes and there is a steep hill into the Millook valley.
Widemouth Bay (3 miles) or Wainhouse Corner (2.5 miles) has the nearest shop for basic food supplies and newspapers and Bude (5 miles) has a full range of shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants
Close to Millook, the unspoilt beach at Crackington Haven (5 miles) is well worth a visit and also the attractive fishing port of Boscastle restored after the floods (8 miles). Further afield Padstow, the Camel Way and river estuary, the Eden project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all easily accessible for an enjoyable day out.
