Glencourt Apartments

Refurbished to an extremely high standard this beautiful Victorian house has all the classic charm of years gone by but has all the modern comforts of today.

Each apartment has been lovingly restored and where possible the original features have been kept such as the marble fireplace and the high ceilings with coving. This gives a feeling of space and airiness that is hard to find in modern accommodations.

All of our apartments have a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, cooker, fridge, iron, ironing board and hairdryer to make sure that your stay is as comfortable as can be.

Freshly laundered bed clothes and towels are also provided.

Laundry facilities are available also to guests free of charge.

Maps and information leaflets are provided in the apartment to help guests choose the best sights and things to do and see while staying there.

There is an excellent bus service right outside the front door so you can reach downtown in 10 minutes or less. Buses run regularly and are reliable. We suggest getting a Leap card to make life easier as most buses require exact change.

We are just a 3 minute walk from the supermarket which also has a pharmacy, bakery and butchers so you will have everything you need.

There are some lovely restaurants just 10 minute walks away and some wonderful pubs that play Irish music nightly.

The famous Guinness Storehouse is close at hand as well as the Jameson Distillery both of which run tours regularly and are worth a visit. Dublin is also renowned for it's famous Temple bar area for entertainment which is a bus ride away.

For art lovers the Irish Museum of Modern Art is 15 minutes away and the National Museum of Ireland is 10 minutes away.

Trinity College, Kilmainham Gaol, Ryan's Victorian Pub, St. Patricks Cathedral, are just some other of the many wonderful attractions that are available.

If you enjoy a stroll in the park then you are perfectly located to visit the beautiful Phoenix Park which has a playground and houses Dublin Zoo. It is well worth a visit and is only an 8 minute walk away. Bike hire is available here also.

For a small fee we can provide an airport transfer if requested and for anyone hiring a car there is free on street parking right outside the house.

All utilities and WiFi are included in the price also.

We hope we have provided enough information here for you but please don't hesitate to contact us if you need any further details.

Airport transfer available upon request for a fee.

Bike hire in the Phoenix Park which is just 8 minutes walk away.

I manage to meet most guests on arrival but if I can't I nearly always get to meet them before they check out.

I'm always available by phone or email and am happy to assist guests in any way I can.

If I'm unable to meet guests on arrival I will email details of where to find the keys on arrival.

This is a residential area and our property is located on a beautifully tree lined which runs right up the the entrance of the Phoenix Park. This park is the largest urban park in Europe and houses Dublin Zoo and the presidential home and offices as well as a children's playground. It is a wonderful park to visit and spans over 1750 acres.

The street also has beautiful Victorian red bricked houses all along it which date back to the 18th century so it really is a taste of old Dublin.

There is a major supermarket just 3 minutes walk as well as a pharmacy, bakery, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and many other amenities all within easy walking distance.

There are several bus routes right outside the house which will take you directly to the city centre in less than 10 minutes.

The 46A is a bus that stops right outside the house and will take you straight into the city. Busses are regular and reliable and we suggest getting a Leap card to make paying fares a little easier. This is available from most newsagents.

You can walk to the centre of Dublin as well in approx 30 minutes.

We are just a few minutes from the light rail system called "The Luas" which services the outer regions of Dublin if you plan on exploring outside of the city centre.

About Liam & Fiona Travers

I come from a family background in the hospitality industry.

I grew up in Kildare which is about 45 minutes from Dublin and worked for many years in my parents hotel there.

I emigrated to New York for a number of years and when I returned in 1990 I purchased this property in Dublin City.

As I am a qualified builder and carpenter I undertook to restore this house over a number of years and restore it to some of its former glory. As you can see from the pictures there are a lot of original features which I managed to retain and I am pleased that I can finally share them with people from all over the world.

I am now living in Kildare again and am married with a daughter.

As my parents before me I am committed to providing all of my guests with a wonderful holiday experience in a beautiful period house. I am available at all times for my guest either by phone or email and am happy to answer any query.

Liam & Fiona Travers purchased this apartment in 1990

Why Liam & Fiona Travers chose Arran Quay

I chose this location for the proximity to the city centre and of course the beautiful Victorian Redbrick lined North Circular Road.

These properties are a feature of Dublin and are preserved by Dublin Council. The fact that the Phoenix Park and the Botanic gardens are within walking distances is an absolute plus, providing plenty of recreational activity. Numerous pubs, restaurants are within walking distance and I feel that the house provides a sense of character and charm not matched by modern buildings and houses.

What makes this apartment unique

There are a number of benefits to staying in this property. Located close to the heart of the city of Dublin there is an excellant transport system by bus and light rail that means all of the sights can be visited with the minimum of fuss. The building itself is a beautiful Victorian property that has unique charm while offering all the modern comforts that a guest could expect.

The location is ideal as it is quiet while being convenient to all shopping, sights, transport, museums etc. that makes a holiday. Located beside the Phoenix park which is Europe's largest urban park the traveller can have a taste of the country while still remaining in the city.

There truly is something for everyone.

Perfect for 2 for visiting Dublin

  • 4 of 5

Liam & Fiona are very sympathetic and gave us all the information we needed to find easily the appartment and gave us good advices for visiting Dublin. This appartment is perfect for 2, not for 3 - even if is a child - it's a little too small, except for a very short stay.

The appartment is near Phoenix Park, there are a lot of facilities nearby (supermarkets, baker, gas station), a bus station is just front of the building. If you travel by car, it's easy to find a car park in front the building. It's a perfect location to visit Dublin, even by feet.

There a TV. There's only a store as shutters inside the window which is a little just when there's the sun. The bedding of the bed is very good, the convertible sofa... not very good but it's a convertible sofa ;)

If you have any problem Liam & Fiona are very contactable and do their best to help you (during our stay a lamp needed another bulb, it had been changed less than 2 hours later).

We had a nice stay in this Molly Malone Studio and we advise it.

If we return to Dublin, we will contact Liam & Fiona.

Thank you both !

did Not meet expectations.

  • 1 of 5

Photos do not accurately represent either the confined space. Furniture a double bed, sleeper couch, table and 2 chairs which occupies the rest of the available floor space. Not sure how the couch extends if table and chairs in the way. Shower cubicle is minute. Not sure what pillow was filled with but rustled! Not a salubrious neighbourhood if bus-ing or taking a jog at night. Owners obliging and absolutely charming. Could not do enough to make our stay easy. Very clean

Owner's Response: Hi Maureen Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are disappointed that you didn't contact us regarding any of the issues you mentioned during your stay as we would have been more than happy to help you in any way possible. I did talk to you before you left and you didn't mention any of these issues. The size of this studio is clearly stated in our Homeaway advertisement so all guests are aware from the start of the space available. The size of the apartment is reflected in the price. As we like to say it's small but perfectly formed. The table folds down against the wall which means the sofa bed can then be pulled out and the chairs can be stored to one side until needed in the morning. The shower cubicle is standard recommended size and is what you would find in most Irish homes. The pillows all have protective covers under the pillowcase and if this was irritating it could easily have been changed if we had known about it. The location is an up and coming area which is mainly residential and close to the city centre. There is a brand new college 5 minutes walk away and further development is undergoing all the time. There is no reason to be concerned or worried as in all of our years there we have never had any issues. We do agree however that this apartment is clean along with all of our other apartments in this house. We take great pride in our business and offering fantastic accommodation at affordable prices. You only need to read previous reviews to get a true reflection of the kind of holiday guests have had here. Best regards Liam and Fiona

A great place to stay while visiting Dublin

  • 5 of 5

Liam was wonderful in providing pre arrival information and Molly Malones was a great place to arrive home to every evening. The unit offers free on street parking and is handy to frequent public transportation to the city centre. The unit is fully equipped for DIY meals available at the local food stores. A great place to stay.

Wonderfull little space!

  • 4 of 5

So glad to find a great little shower in this tiny apartment! Location was great for us as we wanted to do a lot of walking. We were able to walk most of the downtown area from this location. A bit tricky getting in initially but a quick call to Fiona and the problem was solved. Appreciated their airport pickup hire, Garry, who was able to answer a lot of questions for us.

Car: not necessary

This house is a beautiful Victorian building on a tree lined street adjacent to the Phoenix Park and and Botanic Gardens situtated just 10 minutes by bus from the city centre.

There is an excellent public transport service right outside the front door so a car isn't necessary.

There is a major supermarket just 3 minutes walk away as well as a pharmacy, bakery, butchers, medical centre and a laundromat for guests that need this facility.

There are cafes, pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance (max 10 minutes) and one pub in particular plays traditional Irish music nightly and has to be visited during your stay. It's an old Irish pub and people gather nightly to play here. Not to be missed!

There are also excellent restaurants so if you don't want to cook you could pop into L. Mulligan's Bistro (check out the review it got in the NY Times), Plan B, Cucina, My Thai and various cafes for that all important cup of coffee and chat.

We have eaten in all of these establishments and we couldn't fault any of them so rest assured that you won't be disappointed.

If you plan on eating in the city then it's only a short bus ride or walk to find a wealth of restaurants and places to eat that will take your breath away. The quality and standard of food in Dublin not to mention the variety is second to none so there really is something for everyone.

There are also some takeaways nearby so if you don't want to cook or if you don't want to venture out this is an option also.

Following is a list of the some of the sights you would enjoy in Dublin.

All are within easy reach of our property and while there are many more than listed here we thought we would give you some to start with.

Top 10 sights close to our apartment

1. Phoenix Park - Europe's largest urban park and houses Dublin Zoo is just a 10 minute walk

2. Guinness Storehouse - 20 minutes

3. Trinity College - Houses the famous and beautiful Book of Kells is only 10 minutes by bus

4. The National Botanic Gardens - 15 minute by bus

5. The National Gallery of Ireland - 15 minute by bus

6. Farmleigh House - also in the Phoenix Park which is a 10 minute walk

7.St. Patrick's Cathedral - 15 minutes by bus

8. National Museum of Ireland - 15 minutes by bus

9. Kilmainham Gaol - 15 minutes by bus

10. Jameson Distillery - 10 minutes walk

These are only some of the wonderful sights that are on our doorstep.

Each apartment has information on the fantastic things to do and see while in Dublin and of course we are happy to recommend other things to see and do while you are here.

Excellant tourist offices are also dotted throughout the city which can provide information on day trips, tours and other excursions that might be of interest.

Finally we want to assure you that we take great pride in our house and our apartments. We are committed to providing a quality stay and I have personally restored the apartments myself over the last 5 years.

Cleanliness and value for money are our priority and we aim to provide each guest with wonderful memories of a holiday in Dublin in a wonderful restored Victorian house.

We look forward to meeting you.
