About Liam & Fiona Travers
I come from a family background in the hospitality industry. I grew up in Kildare which is about 45 minutes from Dublin and worked for many years in my parents hotel there. I emigrated to New York for a number of years and when I returned in 1990 I purchased this property in Dublin City. As I am a qualified builder and carpenter I undertook to restore this house over a number of years and restore it to some of its former glory. As you can see from the pictures there are a lot of original features which I managed to retain and I am pleased that I can finally share them with people from all over the world. I am now living in Kildare again and am married with a daughter. As my parents before me I am committed to providing all of my guests with a wonderful holiday experience in a beautiful period house. I am available at all times for my guest either by phone or email and am happy to answer any query.

Why Liam & Fiona Travers chose Phoenix Park
I chose this location for the proximity to the city centre and of course the beautiful Victorian Redbrick lined North Circular Road. These properties are a feature of Dublin and are preserved by Dublin Council. The fact that the Phoenix Park and the Botanic gardens are within walking distances is an absolute plus, providing plenty of recreational activity. Numerous pubs, restaurants are within walking distance and I feel that the house provides a sense of character and charm not matched by modern buildings and houses.
What makes this Apartment unique
There are a number of benefits to staying in this property. Located close to the heart of the city of Dublin there is an excellant transport system by bus and light rail that means all of the sights can be visited with the minimum of fuss. The building itself is a beautiful Victorian property that has unique charm while offering all the modern comforts that a guest could expect. The location is ideal as it is quiet while being convenient to all shopping, sights, transport, museums etc. that makes a holiday. Located beside the Phoenix park which is Europe's largest urban park the traveller can have a taste of the country while still remaining in the city. There truly is something for everyone.
Close to the city center yet quiet and peaceful.
We loved staying in the James Joyce Suite. It was large enough for our family yet close to the city center. Finding a spacious apartment is not always possible and finding it close to attractions was a bonus! The apartment was clean, quiet and very spacious.
Safe neighborhood with bus service downtown
Owners were unable to meet us upon arrival but a very detailed email with check in instructions and neighborhood amenities was sent before check in. Apartments was easy to find and getting into apartment was easy. Apartment was spacious and clean , we truly appreciated the bagels and loved the French press! Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was fine, maybe more towels? My suggestions would be simple instructions left in apt for how to use heat, how to turn hot water on etc. Pull out couch was not comfortable but luckily my son was a good sport. No bedding or pillows for this bed either. Four pillows for an apt that sleeps 5 should be adjusted. I did email owners but did not get a reply as far as bedding for pull out. We did take bus into city which worked out fine, bus stop just outside front door. We Uber’d it home from city with no issues. We felt safe in this neighborhood during our 2 day stay in Dublin.
Thank you Nancy for taking the time to write this mainly positive review.
I can only apologise for the problem with the bedding for the pull out couch.
I did respond to your email the very day we received it so I don't know why you didn't pick it up or see it.
Unfortunately sofa beds are never going to be as comfortable as a regular bed especially when we have hotel quality mattresses on each bed so it's best if these are used for children.
If you needed more towels you could have just asked as we could have arranged for our cleaner to drop them in. Generally speaking though we find that 1 bath towel and a hand towel per person is ample.
I will make sure that we arrange an information book to leave in the apartment and I want to thank you for pointing out that it was missing.
Again we are so delighted that you chose to stay with us for your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back to Glencourt soon again.

Very home feel!
Liam and Fiona are absolutely fantastic and so helpful in getting us from the airport and back. The apartment was perfect in every way. Location was perfect, close to the city but far enough away that I did not have to deal with the young pups of Dublin every night. Perfect local pub just down the road and there is also a small shopping center with everything you could need. I cannot wait to come back to stay! Highly recommended place to stay.
Excellent place to stay!
We had a very comfortable stay in the James Joyce apartment. Very clean, quiet, wonderful to have the little kitchen and the washer-dryer. The 46A bus got us into central Dublin easily and we enjoyed every minute of our first visit to this amazing city. We had arranged for the driver (Rory, super nice) to pick us up at the airport and are very happy we did this. We highly recommend this property.
Quaint and comfortable
Very well maintained property. The host is very guest friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again.
Thanks Mary, it was a pleasure to host you.

This house is a beautiful Victorian building on a tree lined street adjacent to the Phoenix Park and and Botanic Gardens situtated just 10 minutes by bus from the city centre.
There is an excellent public transport service right outside the front door so a car isn't necessary.
There is a major supermarket just 3 minutes walk away as well as a pharmacy, bakery, butchers, medical centre and a laundromat for guests that need this facility.
There are cafes, pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance (max 10 minutes) and one pub in particular plays traditional Irish music nightly and has to be visited during your stay. It's an old Irish pub and people gather nightly to play here. Not to be missed!
There are also excellent restaurants so if you don't want to cook you could pop into L. Mulligan's Bistro (check out the review it got in the NY Times), Plan B, Cucina, My Thai and various cafes for that all important cup of coffee and chat.
We have eaten in all of these establishments and we couldn't fault any of them so rest assured that you won't be disappointed.
If you plan on eating in the city then it's only a short bus ride or walk to find a wealth of restaurants and places to eat that will take your breath away. The quality and standard of food in Dublin not to mention the variety is second to none so there really is something for everyone.
There are also some takeaways nearby so if you don't want to cook or if you don't want to venture out this is an option also.
Following is a list of the some of the sights you would enjoy in Dublin.
All are within easy reach of our property and while there are many more than listed here we thought we would give you some to start with.
