The Samuel Beckett Apartment - Sleeps 5

We have called this apartment The Samuel Beckett after the Irish novelist. A recently refurbished apartment that sleeps 5 comfortably ideally situated close to the Phoenix Park and Botanic Gardens.

This apartment has recently been refurbished & is finished to a very high spec. All mod cons and comforts of home are provided. Within easy reach of all the fabulous restaurants, museums, parks, Aras an Uachtarain, Farmleigh House & of course shopping that Dublin has to offer.

Easy walk to numerous bus stops and train staions that will connect you with the Luas which will connect you with all of Dublin. There are also a number of great restuarants and pubs within a 10 minute walk from the apartment which we can highly recommend.

We provide a welcome pack with the basics such as bread and milk etc to get you on your feet. There is a major supermarket within a 5 minute walk so you will never run out of essentials. All mod cons are provided and there is linen and towels freshly laundered for your use.

The apartment is in a beautiful large red brick Victorian building on a tree lined street. There is one bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a leather pull down sofa that makes another double bed. There is a seperate kitchen and dining area and of course a bathroom. There is fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer dryer so that anyone considering an extended stay can enjoy all the comforts of home. A baby cot can be provided should it be required.

For anyone considering exploring Ireland further there is a car hire company within easy reach and the train staiton is within easy reach. The famous Guinness Brewery is close at hand as well as the Jameson Distillery both of which run tours regularly and are worth a visit. Dublin is also renowned for it's famous Temple bar area for entertainment which is a bus ride away. For art lovers the Irish Museum of Modern Art is 15 minutes away and the National Museum of Ireland is 10 minutes away.

We are located right beside the Phoenix park and day trips to Howth and Newgrange are highly recommended. Trinity College, Kilmainham Gaol, Ryan's Victorian Pub are some other of the many attractions close by

About the property

Glencourt Apartments

Refurbished to an extremely high standard this beautiful Victorian house has all the classic charm of years gone by but has all the modern comforts of today.

Each apartment has been lovingly restored and where possible the original features have been kept such as the marble fireplace and the high ceilings with coving. This gives a feeling of space and airiness that is hard to find in modern accommodations.

All of our apartments have a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, cooker, fridge, iron, ironing board and hairdryer to make sure that your stay is as comfortable as can be.

Freshly laundered bed clothes and towels are also provided.

Laundry facilities are available also to guests free of charge.

Maps and information leaflets are provided in the apartment to help guests choose the best sights and things to do and see while staying there.

There is an excellent bus service right outside the front door so you can reach downtown in 10 minutes or less. Buses run regularly and are reliable. We suggest getting a Leap card to make life easier as most buses require exact change.

We are just a 3 minute walk from the supermarket which also has a pharmacy, bakery and butchers so you will have everything you need.

There are some lovely restaurants just 10 minute walks away and some wonderful pubs that play Irish music nightly.

The famous Guinness Storehouse is close at hand as well as the Jameson Distillery both of which run tours regularly and are worth a visit. Dublin is also renowned for it's famous Temple bar area for entertainment which is a bus ride away.

For art lovers the Irish Museum of Modern Art is 15 minutes away and the National Museum of Ireland is 10 minutes away.

Trinity College, Kilmainham Gaol, Ryan's Victorian Pub, St. Patricks Cathedral, are just some other of the many wonderful attractions that are available.

If you enjoy a stroll in the park then you are perfectly located to visit the beautiful Phoenix Park which has a playground and houses Dublin Zoo. It is well worth a visit and is only an 8 minute walk away. Bike hire is available here also.

For a small fee we can provide an airport transfer if requested and for anyone hiring a car there is free on street parking right outside the house.

GUEST ACCESS

This studio is completely self contained so guests don't have to share facilities with anyone.

All utilities, Wifi and parking are provided in the price so no nasty hidden extras. Laundry facilities available at no extra cost.

There is an excellent bus service that runs right by the house and is frequent and reliable.

Airport transfer available upon request for a fee.

Bike hire in the Phoenix Park which is just 8 minutes walk away.

Key safe available for guests arriving late at night/early in the morning.

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS

I manage to meet most guests on arrival but if I can't I nearly always get to meet them before they check out.

I'm always available by phone or email and am happy to assist guests in any way I can.

If I'm unable to meet guests on arrival I will email details of where to find the keys on arrival.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

This is a residential area and our property is located on a beautifully tree lined which runs right up the the entrance of the Phoenix Park. This park is the largest urban park in Europe and houses Dublin Zoo and the presidential home and offices as well as a children's playground. It is a wonderful park to visit and spans over 1750 acres.

The street also has beautiful Victorian red bricked houses all along it which date back to the 18th century so it really is a taste of old Dublin.

There is a major supermarket just 3 minutes walk as well as a pharmacy, bakery, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and many other amenities all within easy walking distance.

GETTING AROUND

There are several bus routes right outside the house which will take you directly to the city centre in less than 10 minutes.

The 46A is a bus that stops right outside the house and will take you straight into the city. Busses are regular and reliable and we suggest getting a Leap card to make paying fares a little easier. This is available from most newsagents.

You can walk to the centre of Dublin as well in approx 30 minutes.

We are just a few minutes from the light rail system called "The Luas" which services the outer regions of Dublin if you plan on exploring outside of the city centre.

Heuston Train station is approx 10 minutes by car and Connolly Station is approx 25 minutes by car.

Taxis can be arranged upon request and if you need an airport transfer we can arrange this also for a fee.

About Liam & Fiona Travers

I come from a family background in the hospitality industry.

I grew up in Kildare which is about 45 minutes from Dublin and worked for many years in my parents hotel there.

I emigrated to New York for a number of years and when I returned in 1990 I purchased this property in Dublin City.

As I am a qualified builder and carpenter I undertook to restore this house over a number of years and restore it to some of its former glory. As you can see from the pictures there are a lot of original features which I managed to retain and I am pleased that I can finally share them with people from all over the world.

I am now living in Kildare again and am married with a daughter.

As my parents before me I am committed to providing all of my guests with a wonderful holiday experience in a beautiful period house. I am available at all times for my guest either by phone or email and am happy to answer any query.

Why Liam & Fiona Travers chose Arran Quay

I chose this location for the proximity to the city centre and of course the beautiful Victorian Redbrick lined North Circular Road.

These properties are a feature of Dublin and are preserved by Dublin Council. The fact that the Phoenix Park and the Botanic gardens are within walking distances is an absolute plus, providing plenty of recreational activity. Numerous pubs, restaurants are within walking distance and I feel that the house provides a sense of character and charm not matched by modern buildings and houses.

What makes this apartment unique

There are a number of benefits to staying in this property. Located close to the heart of the city of Dublin there is an excellant transport system by bus and light rail that means all of the sights can be visited with the minimum of fuss. The building itself is a beautiful Victorian property that has unique charm while offering all the modern comforts that a guest could expect.

The location is ideal as it is quiet while being convenient to all shopping, sights, transport, museums etc. that makes a holiday. Located beside the Phoenix park which is Europe's largest urban park the traveller can have a taste of the country while still remaining in the city.

There truly is something for everyone.

This apartment was great. Location was not at all far from city centre with the option of buses extremely close to the house, all of which go to the key tourist locations of Dublin (city centre, Guinness factory, Kilmainham Gaul, etc). The place was extremely clean and well stocked with towels and other basic things. Liam was always available and kept in contact throughout the trip. Overall a really great experience! Go to the restaurant down the way, Hanlons, great food for a decent price!

All apartment are located in this house which has been lovingly restored to its former glory over the years by myself. Located just 10 minutes from the city centre by bus guests can relax and retreat to a wonderfully quiet house at the end of a busy day sightseeing and shopping. Buses are right outside the front door and are regular and convenient. There is a major supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away and also a bakery, pharmacy, cafe & newsagents so you will have all the provisions you need for the duration of your stay. There are some wonderul restaurants in the area and there are also some great pubs with traditional Irish music nightly. WIFI is provided and if necessary parking is free on street in front of the house. If you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing in the city we recommend you use public transport as parking can be difficult and also expensive. We provide leaflets and information on popular things to do in each apartment & of course we are happy to advise

Super appartement et quartier calme

Nous avons apprécié ce logement, tout équipé et confortable! Le quartier est calme et bien situé pour les visites du centre avec un arrêt de bus juste en face. Le Zoo de Dublin est à 10 minutes à pied, ainsi que les commerces à 2 minutes à pied. Nous avons également apprécié le transfert avec notre chauffeur depuis l’aéroport! Good for a couple

The apartment was clean, and well supplied. Street parking was readily available. Location was walking distance to all the main attractions. The immediate neighborhood was a bit rough.

This is a mainly residential area and the Stoneybatter area is an up and coming address in the city centre. It's a great location just 30 minutes walk from the city centre and 8 minutes walk to the beautiful Phoenix park. Previous guest loved staying here as the reviews testify and they have found the locals to be warm and charming in any of the local pubs they visited. Great place to stay!

Very satisfied with our first experience at a VRBO accommodation. The apartment was very clean, had everything you would need.....microwave, coffee maker, washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, etc. The bus stops right in front of the house. There are stores nearby. Wonderful place to stay! Thank you to Liam and Fiona! Oh, and they have a great girl, Carmen, working for them who helped us out.

Very nice up to date residence

A real Dublin experience

This was our first stay in Dublin, visiting from the USA. Although we came as tourists, we always like to leave a place feeling that we have gotten a little taste of the real local life as well, so staying in this residential neighborhood was great for us. The Molly Malone apartment was exactly as advertised and as it appeared in the picture on the website. It is a cozy little efficiency apartment and exactly what we expected. Liam and Fiona communicated well with us before our stay, including answering our questions seeking advice on some transportation options. They also sent us a detailed message a few days before our stay that gave VERY detailed information about the area around the apartment, shopping options, recommendations for local attractions, and transportation into the city center, as well as logistics for our late arrival. We second their recommendation of buying a visitor's LEAP card for local transit; it really makes using the buses very easy. Several different buses to the city center leave from anywhere from right outside the apartment to a couple of blocks away, so if you are the type to use local transit, this is a great location. There are multiple grocery shopping options in easy walking distance from the apartment. Phoenix Park, which is a large, lovely urban park that includes Dublin's zoo, is an easy walk from the apartment as well. Highly recommended if you want a cozy place to stay in a nice, convenient residential neighborhood.

Super semaine à Dublin

Nous avons passé une super semaine dans ce joli appartement, bien équipé et tranquille! Le bus est juste en face de la location, ainsi que les commerces. Le Zoo de Dublin on y va à pied en 15 Minutes et le centre ville est accessible en 10 Minutes.

This house is a beautiful Victorian building on a tree lined street adjacent to the Phoenix Park and and Botanic Gardens situtated just 10 minutes by bus from the city centre.

There is an excellent public transport service right outside the front door so a car isn't necessary.

There is a major supermarket just 3 minutes walk away as well as a pharmacy, bakery, butchers, medical centre and a laundromat for guests that need this facility.

There are cafes, pubs and restaurants all within easy walking distance (max 10 minutes) and one pub in particular plays traditional Irish music nightly and has to be visited during your stay. It's an old Irish pub and people gather nightly to play here. Not to be missed!

There are also excellent restaurants so if you don't want to cook you could pop into L. Mulligan's Bistro (check out the review it got in the NY Times), Plan B, Cucina, My Thai and various cafes for that all important cup of coffee and chat.

We have eaten in all of these establishments and we couldn't fault any of them so rest assured that you won't be disappointed.

If you plan on eating in the city then it's only a short bus ride or walk to find a wealth of restaurants and places to eat that will take your breath away. The quality and standard of food in Dublin not to mention the variety is second to none so there really is something for everyone.

There are also some takeaways nearby so if you don't want to cook or if you don't want to venture out this is an option also.
