There is also a pathway that leads to the back door and slate shed, ideal for keeping bikes or wet walking equipment. For walkers, twitchers, narrow gauge railway enthusiasts or just those wanting a peaceful break away from it all, our cosy cottage has it all. About Mrs Paula Bateman
Hi. We live in the Midlands with our two boys and family dog called Chester. We juggle our time between work and school to use the house as much as possible. For us its our stress relief and our little bit of sanctuary.
Mrs Paula Bateman purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Mrs Paula Bateman chose Prenteg
We bought this property as we have holidayed in the area since our childhoods. It has everything needed for a great holiday location. It is situated 3 miles from the town of Porthmadog, in a very beautiful little village called Prenteg. It has the peace and quiet for those wishing to relax, but is also within the Snowdonian National Park, with all its walks and scenery, and within walking distance to the narrow gauge railway, which will take you through BedGellert and Caernarfon. Other towns and beaches including Criccieth, Borth y Gest and Black Rock sands are also only a short drive or bus run away.
What makes this Cottage unique
The property was built in 1900 and can be found at the LLanberris Slate Museum. It benefits from periodic slate built walls and fireplace, where the log burner is ready to use. It has been refurbished by ourselves and comes complete with double glazing and modern electric kitchen. It has a shower and toilet downstairs, with two bedrooms upstairs. In the one bedroom there are bunk beds with two single beds in the other room. Both rooms have wardrobes and draw space with table side lamps. Outside there is a slate built shed that originally was a wash room with a working fire and coal fire heated washing bowl. The fire and bowl are no longer used but the shed does act as a safe place to keep all walking equipment and bikes.

Compact and bijoux.
Typical small stone cottage on the edge of Snowdonia, perfectly located for exploring the area. Very reasonably priced with Lawrence of Arabia's birthplace a couple of miles away in Tremadog and Lloyd George's birthplace and fascinating museum about 5 miles away near Criccieth. Beaches also within easy striking distance and lots of narrow gauge railways. A beautiful part of the world and a peaceful place to stay to explore it from.
Thank you Adrian for your kind review..
Good to know you enjoyed your stay at the cottage,
It is in a great location for exploring North wales.

Excellent value comfortable accommodation - ideal for exploring Snowdonia
Accommodation was really clean on arrival - actually smelt clean. Although compact the cottage is well laid out to maximise space. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering and the shower has plentiful hot water - which was a real plus after a long walk (as is the washing machine). The wood burner in the living area was a great feature in the evenings and there was plentiful wood in the wood store (thanks for this). There is a large tesco 10 minutes drive away for provisions, beautiful sandy coves 15 minutes drive away at Borth-y-Gest and the cottage is obviously well situated for exploring Snowdonia. Owners may wish to consider wifi (kids definitely missed it) as 4g signal is intermittent. Communication with owners is excellent and they promptly returned an item that we had left behind.
Recommended - we wood book again if returning to the area
Thank you so much for your kind review. Glad you enjoyed staying at the cottage.

Thank you for your kind review...
Good location, great beaches and walks for dogs. Everywhere seems very dog friendly.
The house has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The setting and countryside is very pretty. The location is good to beaches towns and walks. Everywhere is very dog friendly including some shops cafes and pubs.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars is because there is no wifi which to some people isn't important but it is useful.
