Overview

About the property

Sea views, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large pool, landscaped gardens and BBQ area

Sea Caves Villa is situated in an exclusive executive estate located in the sought after area of Sea Caves. It has a large private pool and spa (winter use and on special request during this period only), and is finished to high standard. Two bedrooms are upstairs and have big balconies with patio furniture on it. One has a double bed, the other has two twin beds. There is a downstairs bedroom with two twin beds. All bedrooms have walk-in cupboards and an own bath/shower room. Nice patio furniture on patio too. Shaded parking area for several cars. Around the pool are six sun loungers and several umbrella's. Bath towels for around the pool and inside towels are supplied. A thatched BBQ area with teak furniture sits in landscaped gardens with stunning views of sea and mountains. It is only 15 minutes away from the Akamas National Park (walks, turtles, beaches, springs). Close to local tavernas, national historic sites, sandy beaches, snorkelling, diving, golf, trekking, parascending, horse riding, jet ski, aqua park, restaurants, harbours, boat rentals, stunning sun sets.

The harbour at Paphos attracts visitors all year round, who take the opportunity to walk along the quay and maybe visit one of the fish restaurants, tavernas or cafes. The view is superb, with lots of colourful fishing boats bobbing in the harbour. The castle is in fact all that remains of a much earlier castle dating from 1391, which was demolished by the Venetians. The Ottomans used it as dungeons and the British as a warehouse for salt! It can be reached via a small bridge over a moat and is worth a visit for the view from the top. Opening hours - winter daily 9am to 5pm - summer daily 9am to 6pm - tel 26932841 (Paphos Tourism Office).

Curium/Kolossi Castle:

Ancient Curium and the castle at Kolossi are both in the Limassol area and can be visited together in a day. They are just two examples of the wealth of history to be found in Cyprus - the Curium sites dating from the second century AD and Kolossi from the thirteenth century.

The ruins at Curium are to be found in breathtaking scenery overlooking the sea - this is probably the most spectacular archaeological site in Cyprus. There are actually two sites, the old city of Kolossi and the sanctuary of Apollo Hylates - they are a few kilometres apart. There is also a museum in the nearby village of Episkopi. As it is one of Cyprus' most popular tourist attractions, it's worth arriving early in high season.

Kolossi castle was the commanderie of the Knights Hospitallers - the name later given to the Commanderia dessert wine. Despite changing owners a number of times, the castle is inextricably linked with both the Hospitallers and wine making.

Both Curium and Kolossi are signposted from the Limassol-Paphos highway. Curium is close to Episkopi village, Kolossi to the village of the same name.

Opening hours Ancient Curium winter daily 8am to 5pm - summer 8am to 7.30pm - tel 25995048. Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates October to April daily 9am to 5pm - summer 9am to 7.30pm - tel 25995049.

Kourion Museum September to June Monday to Friday 9am to 2.30pm - Thursday only 3pm to 5pm - summer 9am to 7.30pm - tel 25934907.

Larnaca Salt Lake and Hala Sultan Tekke:

For those of you arriving at Larnaca airport, one of Cyprus' most impressive places to visit is right under your noses! As you turn left out of the airport you will find the road running along a causeway. On either side you will either see two lakes, or two salt flats, depending on the time of year - this is the Larnaca Salt Lake and site of the mosque or Tekke of Hala Sultan. Salt has been extracted from the lake since ancient times and this continues, on a small scale, to this day. If you are visiting Cyprus in late winter or early spring, look out for the visiting flamingos and other migratory birds. Another salt lake can be found further along the coast of Akrotiri.

Peer across the lake and you will see the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque surrounded by palm trees. This is a wonderful place to visit. Opening hours Hala Sultan Tekke winter 9am - 5pm - summer 7.30am to 7.30pm.

Ayia Napa and Protaras:

If you like entertainment of the non-stop variety, then Ayia Napa should be top of your list. It was once a small fishing village, but not any more. It boasts some of the best beaches on the island, lots of opportunities for watersports and is a popular destination for package tours. Arrive on a summer's morning and you will find a quiet, almost eerie place - but only because most of the visitors are sleeping off the excesses of the night before! This is Cyprus, however, and in the midst of all the fun and noise in the very heart of the town, you can find peace and tranquility in the monastery with its fountain, flowers and quiet cloisters.

Opening hours 8.15am to 2.30pm and 3pm to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday, closed on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons - tel: 23721796

The nearby resort of Protaras is said to be more family orientated and like Ayia Napa, has good beaches and lots of watersports. South of Protaras is Cape Greko, the easternmost point of this end of the island.

Nicosia 'within the walls' and the House of Hadigeorgakis Kornesios:

Look at any map of Nicosia and you will see the distinctive shape of the walls of the old city. The walls and their eleven bastions were built by the Venetians in the 1570's - most of the historic monuments of Nicosia can be found in the winding streets within the walls. It is also the site of the famous tourist quarter, Laiki Yitoniak, which is full of gift shops and restaurants. The best way to see what is on offer is on foot - for a bird's eye view of the city old and new go to the Ledra Museum and Observatory on the eleventh floor of the Shakolas Tower (next door to Woolworths on the corner of Ledra Street and Arsinois Street)

It is now possible to cross the border at Ledra Street into the Turkish part of Cyprus. You can also cross the border at other places by car. Your insurance will be invalid and you need to buy one at the border. This is about €20-30. Ask you car hire company for advise.

One of the most beautiful buildings in the old city is the house of Hadigeorgakis Kornesios - also known as the House of the Dragoman - built in the fifteenth century. It is a wonderful example of a combination of Venetian and Ottoman building styles. The position of dragoman was a powerful one - he served as translator to the Turkish governor and liaised between the Ottoman authorities and the Orthodox Christians. He was an immensely powerful man and, as was common for such people in those days, was beheaded in 1808. The house can be found at 20 Patriarchou Grigoriou near the Omeriye mosque.

Opening hours 8am to 2pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm Saturday - tel: 22305316

Cedar Valley

A must for nature lovers, Cedar Valley in Tilliryan Troodos is aptly named. However, the cedars in this secluded valley are no ordinary trees, but the indigenous Cyprus cedar, Cedrus brevifolia, a close relative of the famous cedars of Lebanon. There are thousands of them in Cedar Valley. It's not the easiest of places to find, but for that reason you are almost guaranteed peace and quiet when you get there. It can be reached via a winding unpaved road from Pano Panagia on the Paphos side of the mountains, or from the Kykkos side along a signposed (unpaved) road along the route from Kykkos to Stavros tis Psokas.

And if you are really lucky, it won't be only cedars you see. Cedar Valley is in the heart of the habitat of the moufflon, a species of wild sheep native to Cyprus, and the national symbol. They are very shy animals - those who want a guaranteed viewing will need to go to the enclosure at Stavros tis Psokas.

Choirokitia

To go right back to Cyprus' earliest history, you need to visit the remains of stone-age settlements at Choirokitia, better preserved than most other Neolithic sites in the eastern Mediterranean. The settlement dates back to the sixth or seventh centuries BC - although the site was discovered in 1936, serious excavation did not get underway until the 1970's. It is perhaps one of the earliest human settlements on the island and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The people of Choirokitia lived in beehive-shaped one storey houses - more that sixty such houses can be seen at the site, as well as the original streets and lanes and a larger chieftain's mansion.

This site can be found approximately half way between Larnaca and Limassol, signposted off the highway. Opening hours winter daily 9am to 5pm, summer 9am to 7.30 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday - tel: 24322710

Lefkara or Nicosia

To those in the know, Lefkara means only one thing, lacemaking. The exquisite Lefkara lace is one of Cyprus' most famous exports - Leonardo da Vinci is said to have bought some to take back to Italy. As you wander around the streets, you will be invited into the many shops to see and buy the local lace. Lefkara is in fact two villages, Pano (upper) and Kato (lower) Lefkara. Pano Lefkara is the home of the Museum of Traditional Embroidery and Silver-smithing in the house of Patsalos - ideal for the visitor who wants to know more before they buy. Opening house 9.30am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, 10am to 4pm Friday & Saturday, closed Sunday - tel: 24342326

The Paphos mosaics

Last but by no means least, the colourful and intricate Roman mosaics to be found in Paphos are a must for all visitors to Cyprus. They were discovered by accident in the 1960's - further excavation revealed a number of Roman houses all with spectacular mosaics, depicting scenes from ancient mythology.

The mosaics give a clue to the wealthy and opulent lives of some of the Roman Paphiots. The main sites are the House of Dionysos, the House of Aion and the House of Theseus. The mosaics can be found near the lighthouse and fortress of Saranda Kolones situated in close proximity to Paphos Harbour.

About Mrs. Janny Visserman Lomas

My name is Janny, and I am Dutch. My husband and myself have owned the property since 2006. We love Cyprus for its more laid back lifestyle, the beautiful walks and lovely little local taverns. From the villa we enjoy the sunsets, the BBQ's in the garden and seeing our friends. We would love you to enjoy those precious moments as well !

Mrs. Janny Visserman Lomas purchased this villa in 2006

Why Mrs. Janny Visserman Lomas chose Coral Bay Area

Sea Caves Villa is a property that is partially used by its owners as well. For this reason it is very well maintained, the garden well matured and attended to for you to enjoy. A lot of our guests return to the villa year after year. We listen to their comments and try to do our best to improve continuously. Our maintenance company, run by a lovely couple whom you will meet upon your arrival, has been with us for many years. So if there is anything you need to know, anything that is of any concern: they are there for you. Privacy is important: our garden now is very matured. The BBQ area sits underneath a thick thatched roof, this reduced the temperature during the day substantially in case you would like a little protection from the sun. There is a build in BBQ area, with a sink as well to make dining outside as easy as possible.

What makes this villa unique

We just loved this property because of the stunning sunsets and at the same time the beautiful peaceful views of the mountains.

An excellent villa conveniently located and very well maintained

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week in the villa and found it very well appointed and in good order. We were particularly pleased with the outdoor areas

The owner was very helpful throughout the booking process and we were greeted on arrival by the local manager.

We have no hesitation in strongly recommending the property

Fantastic Villa with excellent support

  • 5 of 5

As a family of 4 with a young baby and a 4 year old, this villa was perfect. As an autumn holiday at the end of the season, meant we required a heated pool and some indoor entertainment, in adverse weather conditions. Overall the weather did not disappoint, apart from one rather vicious storm at night which uprooted a couple of sun umbrellas!!

Overall the villa is clean and extremely spacious with beautiful roof terraces and all the facilities you would hope for a home away from home. The pool is large, clean and well maintained. The pool is solar heated, so there were no further charges for heating the pool. Although the size of the pool, can reduce the efficiency of the heating. The location of the villa requires a car, which we had hired, and so was easy to reach many destinations.

The villa was fully equipped with all kitchen utensils even a food processor for weening our baby. My son and I both enjoyed the full availability of satellite TV with kids channels as well as BT and Sky sports.

The best beach is 5 minute drive away and was not overly busy at that time of year. Coral Bay is a 10 minute drive away and the Restaurants were of very good quality.

Overall we had an excellent off season holiday, and I can imagine this villa being even better in the high season!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for mentioning the resources and facilities of Sea Caves Villa. The cot, high chair, food processor, etc are already there in case you are travelling with a little one and of course we will try to organise for you anything else you might need. It really is only 5 minutes to the beach with the beautiful sea caves and great coastal walks. Near the ship wreck is one of our favourite tapas places with stunning Mediterranean views and sun sets. But those fabulous sunsets with views overlooking the sea can be enjoyed from the villa itself as well. Enjoy!!

A fantastic, beautiful and comfortable villa!

  • 5 of 5

This was our fifth time visiting Cyprus, and the Coral Bay and Sea Caves area. Our stay at Janny's beautiful Sea Caves villa this time around has been our best ever! The villa is ideally situated for local amenities and restaurants in a very quiet area of Sea Caves, it is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable for our family of five (two adults and three children). Everything about our stay was perfect...great information and communications from Janny about the villa prior to our stay and this continued with the management company when we arrived at the villa. The villa is the best we've stayed at...light and airy with everything we could possibly need for a really relaxing holiday. The large pool and BBQ area were used extensively throughout our stay by all of the family...the only down point was the fact that we had to come home after two weeks! I would definitely recommend this lovely villa to anyone visiting Coral Bay/Sea Caves area of Cyprus...can't wait to go back!

Lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

We had a a wonderful week in Villa Sea Caves. Janny was attentive and helpful and very quick to adress any questions we might have. The villa is situated in a quiet and upmarket area within close proximity to all amenities. The caretakers were great and the villa was very clean and obviously well looked after. The kitchen contained everything needed for cooking meals, but the restaurants are so close that we never really bothered with cooking. The evenings were spent in the garden either by the pool or in the lower garden amongst palm trees and olive trees and the lush garden is such a serene and beautiful place. There are several seating areas outside with comfortable furniture so plenty of choice. We will be back!

Terrific Executive Accomdation Villa

  • 5 of 5

Finished to a high standard and bursting with amenities, the property delivered everything we could possibly have wanted from a luxurious 'place in the sun'.

Clean and well maintained - the property offers spacious facilities outside and inside. The agents looking after the property on behalf of the owners could n't have been more helpful - from navigating us through the incredibly impressive Satellite TV capabilities to recommending restaurant and places to visit. Fantastic WiFi coverage.

This was our second vacation at the villa in 5 years and well worth booking - it will certainly not fail to impress.

Set in a really nice quite location among a number of other very good quality detached properties, only a couple of minutes drive to the nearest supermarkets, bars and restaurants.

Owner's Response: Sea Caves Villa is proud of the large amounts of returning guests; about 50%! The review is written by a guest who stayed with us a few years ago as well, and we are very pleased the holiday was "everything we could possibly want and a luxurious place in the sun!" Our guests - after their stay - are always asked if there are improvements, that we, as villa owners, can make. It's listening over the years to all these helpful suggestions that has helped us as well to make Sea Caves Villa a great property for a wonderful and relaxing holiday in Cyprus! Thank you!

5* villa in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful villa in a lovely setting overlooking the sea. The villa is stocked with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. Our children (3 and 8 years old) loved the pool, spending most of their time in the water. The internet and TV (in particular the Disney channel!) provided a successful means of getting them out of the pool and the sun.

When not enjoying evening bbq's in the lovely garden, we visited the many fantastic restaurants all within 5 minutes drive of the villa. The area is great if you want to avoid the hustle of Paphos and Coral Bay, but close enough if you want to venture into these areas. We spent some time at Coralia beach, which is quieter than Coral beach and perfect for young children.

Janny made the whole booking process stress free and went above and beyond obtaining items for our daughter, so that we did not have to bring them from the UK. The bottle of wine, teddy bears and Cyprus delights which greeted us on our arrival were particularly welcomed. On arrival, Carrie provided us with many recommendations on where to eat and visit. The information file in the villa also provided lots of helpful suggestions and recommendations.

Would we rent this villa again? Definitely!

Sea Caves Villa is located in the Coral Bay / Sea Caves area which is one of the finest residential areas in the South West of Cyprus. The nearby coastline here is rugged and has small sandy coves and sea caves with crystal clear Mediterranean waters. The sea is only 500 meters away. Just behind the villa are banana plantations and orange groves. The location of the villa makes it ideal for walking or cycling. Famous for this region are the stunning sunsets which can be viewed in the evenings from the veranda and all balconies of the villa itself; watching this together with a nice glass of local wine, some olives and tatziki is a real treat.

At many country taverna’s nearby you can eat till late at night. Try a “meze”, have a “souvla” or “kleftiko”, taste “halloumi” and drink traditional Cypriot wine. Feel the unhurried atmosphere of a way of life that has remained essentially the same for centuries.
