About Jackie Forbes
I live in Surrey with my partner and our daughter. We first visited and fell in love with S’Albufera in 1992 and after a few more holidays in the parc I was lucky enough to be in a position to buy Casa Pia so that we can continue to enjoy this beautiful area. As I own a Grade II listed cottage in a conservation area in Sussex that has been running as a holiday rental for over 20 years I am now extremely happy to also be able to share my new home in Menorca with other holidaymakers. I hope that everyone who stays in the villa will love it as much as we do. Please check our Facebook page: Casa Pia Menorca Villa Rental.
Jackie Forbes purchased this Villa in 2012
Why Jackie Forbes chose Mahón
Casa Pia is a large villa perched on top of a hill with 360 views of the surrounding national parc. It is extremely tranquil and private and sometimes the only sound to be heard is the birds singing. Despite this feeling of peaceful seclusion the villa is only a fifteen minute drive from the airport, so one can be swimming in the pool within an hour of landing in Menorca.
What makes this Villa unique
The villa has a lovely rooftop terrace for sunbathing or watching the stunning Menorcan sunsets (or sunrises!). There is a jacuzzi on the terrace by the pool to massage away those aches and pains from your stressful life back home, although due to summer water shortages and high temperatures we suggest that this is only in use out of peak season (charge applies). The water in the pool is kept clean with a salt water chlorination system rather than the harsh chemicals used in a traditionally chlorinated pool. This is kinder to your skin and eyes after the many hours you will spend there during your holiday and also does not smell. The pool can be heated outside of peak season (charge applies). There is unlimited free internet access throughout the villa and UK TV channels if you need to keep in touch with your life at home. There is also a DVD player with a small selection of DVDs. Casa Pia is only five minutes' drive from the unspoilt, child friendly beach at Es Grau and only ten minutes from large supermarkets and the bustling capital of Mahon.

Pleasant, well-maintained villa
A very easy week, with all needs catered for. There was aircraft noise (but the children enjoyed the planes!) The birdwatching (particularly raptors) was great, with eagles and kites almost in the garden.
Ants were a problem at first, but we managed to sort them.
We were disappointed by the proximity of the neighbours: for the first few days there were none, then a very noisy family "entertained" us with very loud parties until 2 to 3 am
Overall we enjoyed a very good week in your lovely property,
Thank you for your review.
I'm glad that you enjoyed your week at the villa.
I'm afraid that there will be a certain amount of planes flying overhead, as with most parts of this part of Menorca due to the convenient location of the airport. However, they are high above and we have never found them to be a problem.
I'm very sorry that you were disturbed by a noisy neighbouring family - this is very rare. The vast majority of people are very appreciative of the relaxing 'vibe' of our natural parc. One of the things that we all ask as villa owners is for visitors to be respectful of this to maintain the peacefulness of the area, so I'm sorry that you experienced this.
Lovely villa in peaceful location.
We really enjoyed our stay in this villa. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is definitely one to consider.
The accommodation worked well for us in terms of layout (family of 5). The facilities in the villa were generally good and we had no problems catering for ourselves.
As we visited in April, the evenings were rather chilly so we made use of the wood burner. Adequate bedding was provided.
WiFi connection worked well.
Unfortunately the pool heating wasn't as effective as it should have been but the children enjoyed the novelty of the hot tub.
We have been to Menorca 4 times so know it pretty well. It's so easy to get here from the airport and no part of the island is very far away, given its size.
Jackie, the owner, was extremely friendly and helpful and we also had prompt help from Sarah at the property management company, when we needed it.
We highly recommend this villa and location. The weather in April is still uncertain at times but on the whole it was fine. The park is lovely for exploring and the children were very excited to find and hold a tiny baby tortoise!
We will definitely consider returning in the future.
Thank you very much Helen for your review. I am so glad that despite the unpredictable weather, you had an enjoyable time at the villa. I'm so sorry that the pool heating wasn't working to its full capacity - we are currently looking into ways of improving the heating output to ensure stable temperature in bad weather. However, I'm so glad that the hot tub was enjoyed by all. You were very lucky to find a baby tortoise - we had one living near our entrance gate a few years ago and always felt privileged when we saw it.
You would be more than welcome to return!
A lovely, relaxing holiday in the peace and tranquility of Casa Pia
A fantastic holiday spent relaxing by the lovely pool. The children spent all day in and out of the pool and with the added bonus of the hot tub and outside chess set, we rarely left the villa. The villa setting gave us the peace and quiet that we were looking for, whilst only being 10 minutes drive into Mahon and Es Castell for evening meals and shopping. The villa was clean and very well equipped with everything you could wish for to make the stay a home away from home.
Thank you for your review, Odette. I'm glad that you and your family enjoyed the villa as much as we do. It is true that sometimes it is tough to drag oneself away from the lovely setting at the villa to venture further afield during a holiday there!
A lovely week in a very nice, spacious villa
The villa is located on the premises of the Es Grau Natural Reserve, close to the main town and the airport. It has a beautiful, quiet setting, secluded and surrounded by beautiful nature. There is only one house as direct neighbours. The villa is overall well maintained and the pictures on internet are truly representative of the real version. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The rooftop terrace view is very beautiful and although we never ate there, I'm sure dining up there is wonderful. At the beginning of our stay, the tv connection was very poor but we mentioned it to Sarah who maintains the villa and since then it functioned properly. We did find that the kitchen appliances were in need of a service....the dishwasher didn't disolve the detergent so we ended up hand washing, the microwave didn't heat properly and we couldn't get the coffee machine to function for the espresso. We did not mention this to Sarah as we managed without and actually didn't really get the time to stop over at the office. Other than the apparatuses, we very much enjoyed the villa and the surroundings. The chessboards (inside and outside) proved to be very enjoyable. The villa was spick and span when we arrived and all was set up for our sleeping arrangements as agreed. The children were delighted to see a turtle showing up outside the door and we saw rabbits on the trail. One has to be particularly vigilant with stowing away all food items as there are many ants (which is quite normal being out in the country). We threw away daily the kitchen waste at the waste disposal area down the hill. The mosquito nets are extremely useful. We enjoyed the air conditioning in the main bedroom and kept the door open to the adjoining room where two children slept on the pull out couch. We did our grocery shopping at the Mercadona which was good and had mostly what we needed. I would recommend this villa for its good layout, general comfort and especially for its unique location. I thank Jackie for being so helpful and pleasant during the reservation process.
Thank you for your kind review - I am so glad that you all enjoyed your holiday at the villa. I'm sorry to hear that a couple of the kitchen appliances didn't work as expected during your visit. I have used the dishwasher myself since your stay and found it to work well - sometimes at home in the UK I have the occasional wash when the dishwasher tablet doesn't dissolve properly and hopefully this was just such a glitch on the occasion you tried it. my microwave does work, but uufortunately it does take much longer than usual to reach the expected temperatures and I mention this in my visitor's handbook. Sometimes the Menorcan electricity power isn't quite up to speed!
I am so glad that your children could experience the wonderful nature so close by. We, too, are always excited to see the wild tortoises, rabbits and birds of prey around the parc - particularly when they can be seen so close to the villa.
I look forward to hearing from you if you would ever like to visit Casa Pia again for a family holiday.
Lovely Villa
Great service when booking the villa. Jackie was extremely helpful and very quick to reply to any queries. The villa is a very modern and clean environment for us to enjoy our stay. Our children enjoyed the swimming pool, wifi connection (Kids are easily pleased with technology these days) and Sky. A very pleasant stay in a very remote area. If you like peace and quite this will be your perfect villa. Only issues we had was the ants! But that's to be expected in a natural park. Recommend to anyone.
Thank you for your kind review. I am glad that you enjoyed your holiday at the villa and that your kids were entertained by the pool (and wifi). Sadly during the hot weather the ants are attracted by the smallest crumb, but can be kept at bay quite easily.
Should you wish to return to Menorca for another holiday I would, of course be happy to welcome you back.
Stunning location
Casa Pia is comfortable and homely with lots of unexpected extras which make all the difference. It is clean and well-maintained with managers close by in case of problems. The villa has far reaching views and is in a very peaceful location. There is a surprising choice of dining and sitting areas both inside and out while the master suite makes a wonderful retreat. We had a wonderful holiday here and would recommend to anyone who loves walking and wildlife.
Thank you for your kind review. I am so glad that you had an enjoyable holiday at the villa. You are right in saying that there is a great choice of areas to dine and/or relax at Casa Pia and of course, the views and location also contribute to making a holiday there something special.
