Chimney cottage was a lovely quaint cottage in a little village in the Peak District. Me and my family had a wonderful time just relaxing and enjoying time away in nature. It has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The beds were comfy and clean. It was so nice to be able to control the temperature in the home as this is not always the case. The only small change I would make is a slightly bigger tv to relax with at night.
The house was perfect for what we needed - a cosy place to come back to after a long day waking. We were 2 couples staying here, there was plenty of space for us (the shorter couple in the double bunk bed!) and we made great use of the board games in the house!
Winster is a lovely little village with a great locally run shop and some lovely pubs. We spent our evenings in the Miners Standard (as The Bowling Green didn’t seem to be open during the week), had great food and drink both nights.
We were sad to leave and wish our stay could have been longer! Will definitely be recommending this cosy cottage to friends and family.
Thank you!
I stayed here with my sister and we liked the cottage very much.
The cottage was cosy and situated in the village of Winster, with easy walking distance to the local pubs, the local bus, walks and the village shop.
Pros:
- The rooms were nicely decorated, with towels provided. - Good walking distance to local amenities, including many walks locally or a little further a field.
- A little welcome tray was left for us on arrival, including a small bottle of milk, thank you!
- Nice garden to sit in, in the warmer evenings.
- Good WIFI signal.
- Great bath/shower in the bathroom.
- Nice and quiet in the evenings, the only thing we heard were Owls and saw a few Bats.
Cons:
- Gas fire was a bit tricky to use and not in the same room as the TV. It would have been nice to have them both in the same room.
- Steep hill upto the cottage - you need to be nice and fit to stay here as there are many passages/paths that are hilly near the cottage.
- Recycling and rubbish collection. There was no recycling facilities at the cottage. Not sure why there were recycling bins, like there were in other cottages in the area.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Chimney cottage and would recommend it to friends.
