The house has 2 double bedrooms with double beds. A single is available in the large sitting room. Large kitchen/diner. Spacious shower room with toilet and bidet. Separate WC and basin. Small terrace with table and chairs at the front and larger terrace at the back. Chamborigaud has developed from a secluded habitation of the 18th century into a small village with a population of 750 people,located in the departement Gard and belongs to the clerical region of Uzès. Surrounded by the Cevennes mountain ranges and the river Ardeche, the village is located in 350 m altitude along the creek 'Le Luech'. A viaduct across the valley was completed in 1867. As a special sight, the 'grand curve' with 41 arches is absolutely worth a visit. Chamborigaud is found in Gard and Languedoc Roussillon region of France. The closest airport to Chamborigaud is Nimes Airport (69 km) also worth considering are Montpellier Airport (80 km), Avignon Airport (85 km), there are many local shops. 2 hotel/restaurants.

My Father had bought a House in the Valle de la Ceze, hoping to retire there but this was not be be ~ I inherited his house,along with my brother, but It was too big to keep on, So I decided to keep a foot in france and discovered the Cevennes and fell in love with the region and the Village. We bought in Chamborigaud as it is an accessible gateway to the Cevennes, also not too far into the Ceze Vallee, the Ardeche & down to the coast to the Camargue. The village is lively, has all you could need and the people are friendly and very welcoming. further up is the lake at villefort where there are facilities for many water sports and fishing. For traveling from the UK it is accessible by Air and by Train. Also the local train was a revelation, our last visit was without a car!. . .we visited towns and villages by train and crossed the Viaduct up through stunning landscapes. In the winter there is snow further up for cross country Skiing and the region is famous for its beautiful Walks. It is nice to be a part of a busy more rural comunity, not so much of a tourist town. . .and the river beaches are wonderful, cool clear water surrounded by trees.
What makes this House unique
I enjoy the quiet at night, and the friendly encounters with neighbors and locals and the welcoming shopkeepers and local restauranteurs in the village. The house is comfortable and has all we need without being too modern. . . .I like that it is in the heart of the village, and a short walk to all ameneties.

This house is a delight
Sarah's house is a delight. A comfortable place to stay in a lovely area.
The Provecals across the road were ready and waiting for us when we arrived and Mme showed us round. We don't speak a lot of French and she speaks little English, but we managed just fine. As we were in a pretty small car we also used the garage underneath the house to keep it cool.
Plenty of inside space, especially as there were just two of us, and the outside spaces are also so useful. The terrace at the rear gets sunshine for most of the day and is a great place to watch the stars and listen to the owls at night.
The front terrace gets the morning sun for breakfast, and then provides shade for the heat of the day.
Sarah has many books, CD's and DVD's in the house, but just note that there is no TV. This wasn't a requirement for us, but you may not realise this when reading the description above.
I especially enjoyed reading Carlos' recipe book which I only discovered towards the end of my stay - some yummy ideas in it!
Unlike another reviewer, we had no problem with the internet, but you do need to follow Sarah's instructions and ensure everything is plugged in.
Chamborigaud has everything you need with several places to buy supplies, a wonderful Sunday market, and lots of choice for eating out. We particularly enjoyed the Hotel Cevennes where you can get a bargain daily special for 15 Euros including wine!
We also were lucky enough to experience the entertainment in the village - a couple of evening shows in the local park - great fun.
The house is in a great location - we made easy trips to Uzes for the Saturday market, Barjac for the flea market, and drives down the Ardeche, Tarn and Jonte Gorges.
We also took Sarah's suggestions for some evening walks close to the house - the Viaduct is very impressive.
Other day trips that we really enjoyed were to the Cavern Pont D'Arc - just amazing, and the Aven d'Orgnac Cavern - where our English speaking guide was brilliant.
The Chateau at Portes was open at the weekend and is certainly worth a visit. Just outside this on the drive back to Chamborigaud there is a sign for a honey producer. As we keep bees ourselves we went to take a look. It is quite a trek, and the road gets ever narrower but we finally made it and were able to taste several types of honey and of course purchase some to bring home.

This house felt loved
We loved the appearance and 'feel' of this house. The owners clearly care about it. It is spacious: lovely big kitchen with character, a comfortable sitting room which emanates calm and invites relaxation, two comfortable good sized bedrooms, generous hallway, bathroom etc. Sarah's information folder in the house is full of useful information and suggestions for visits and activities and her neighbours opposite were helpful without ever being intrusive. The location in the village is perfect: it is in the old part of the village but still a convenient walking distance for the bakers, butcher, restaurants etc. in the village and even for the station from which you can catch a train to Nimes. Overall: excellent customer service, very clean and well maintained, accurate description in listing. We would strongly recommend. Thank you Sarah - we really enjoyed our stay in your house.
Lovely, clean, comfortable house in quiet road.
Clean and comfortable house the majority of which is on first floor.
Well appointed house with a big kitchen and plenty of kitchen equipment. Outside areas a quite small which we imagine could be quite cramped for 5. Fine for the two of us. We really enjoyed the library of books.
House is in a great location in side road of the village. Village well appointed with baker, butcher, wine shop, small grocery stores , weekly market and several restaurants. Added bonus is the train station which we used several times. Walking in the area is varied and there are lots of good walks of varying lengths. Plenty of river bathing places . Slightly further afield visit Nimes Coliseum and Pont du Gard.
stylish, quirky house in beautiful Cévennes scenery
This was one of the best houses we have rented. Stylish and quirky decor, very well equipped (the kitchen more so than at home!) and with a lovely terrace for eating or sunning. At night, fantastic starry skies (and owls!)
Chamborigaud is a great Cévenol village: friendly people, bars and restaurants, a local market on Sundays. wonderful mountain walks, especially from Génolhac (guides in house) and river swims in many places on the Luech. Added bonus is the local train, irregular but well worth the stunning journey to Langogne over the famous viaduct. Also links to Nîmes, so possible to do a car free trip.

Or By train from London St Pancras to Nimes Via either Paris or Lille. 2 hours 20 to Paris then less than 3 hours to Nimes on the TGV. Or Go direct in the summer to Avignon. Best agents for Booking Trains Are Rail Europe - very helpful. There is a very good Local train from Nimes to the village via Ales and goes up to Villefort
