About Tuscanbreaks

Living in this area of Tuscany for over 10 years. Recognising that tourists here are looking for value for money as well as the more luxurious end of the market. These apartments are owned by friends and offer good value and provide the opportunity to experience the quieter side of Tuscany whilst giving the opportunity to go off and explore some of the loveliest towns.

Why Tuscanbreaks chose Castiglion Fiorentino

The Valley of Chio is a truly beautiful place. In fact, one of the great Medici Dukes when claiming the town of Castiglin Fiorentino asked the name of the valley - when told it is called the Valle di Chio - he exclaimed it should be the Valle di Dio = The valley of God - This from someone who had seen the Chianti, The Sienese, Florence and more. A good reason to start looking at properties here!

Guestbook comments from the manager

An inexpensive find in Tuscany.

A two-week stay here in August 2011 proved better than anticipated. It has lots of charm and its setting meant that my wife and I were able to relax, catch up on a few novels and the children could explore the surrounding area or be safe by the pool.

The apartments are more basic than luxurious, but everything that we needed was at hand and, very comfortable. The owners met us and helped us with our bags and after a brief tour of the apartments left us with a welcome pack describing all the local events and places we might want to visit.

The “local” shop is about 1.5km from the apartment, and larger markets were fund in the main town of Castiglion Fiorentino (where there is a rail station).

One of the really lovely memories is sitting by the pool, watching the sun set over the historic town of Castiglion and the surrounding valley. The location of the apartment is such that wherever you look great scenery. Marvelous.

Tuscany , Peaceful , Quiet , Enjoyable.

  • 5 of 5

We had a relaxing late summer family vacation . The heading really says it all. The accommodation gave us everything we needed , comfortable and bright. The garden ( or country park) have us all the space and views to enjoy the days spent at the cottage and the treat of having our own private pool was icing on the cake.

Here the cottage made us feel we had our very own holiday home in Italy , thoroughly enjoyable .

very nice place in the middle of the olive trees

  • 5 of 5

A nice house for four people with a nice pool and fantastic view towards Castiglione. Everything was as it is descibred. Terry kept us informed from arrival to departure. We recommend the house for people, who like to be out in the nature. We recommend to drive to Cortona in the evening to have a nice time there.

Quiet beautiful setting,

  • 4 of 5

A very quiet beautiful setting, peace and quiet. Perhaps for our week, the only thing missing was a dry day! Apparently, the amount of rain during May was a record! The cottage is cozy with large sitting room , two bedrooms and good kitchen. Very warm and helpful welcome - and the fruit, wine and olive oil welcome package was unexpected. Despite the rain, there were warm days, so we were able to eat on the terrace - sometimes watching the distant rain ,,.. A day trip to Florence from the local rail station - (with some advance museum tickets organised by Tony) was a great day out, but go too to the local towns of Castiglion, Cortina and Arezzo - with some sunshine - even better. Thank you for looking after us both.

One man and his dog

  • 5 of 5

I first came to the cottage Nine years ago, and then again four years ago with my wife for one of our happy family holidays to Tuscany. This was a place we enjoyed for its calm and restful setting and it seemed an obvious choice for me to come and have another quiet moment - this time only me and jag, the dog

It was how I remembered it, although not as warm, this ftime of year ( December) but still sunny and bright and each day long walks around the land and along the quiet road up to the cottage

The owner, his rep here very helpful, but leaving me to my own devices - except to come with new linen and, a warm gift of local wine and a sort of panettone which was perfect

A comfortable cottage, all amenities for a small family, modern wifi for me to keep in touch and, a good pool - )not much good at this time , but worth a not)e along with the chanting views - what more to ask for and to relax and think about old times

For us this was an enjoyable little house, lovely quiet setting and giod pool. Good contact with owner at arrival and lots of useful tips

Bedrooms comfortable and clean. Good kitchen appliances (a new fridge was brought to us when a fault occurred! ) , nice barbecue and shaded terrace. We were invited to take Fruit - cherries from the orchard very nice,

The shop of 2km, useful for most things and the nearby restaurants all good value - especially helpful to mention owner when book

Dårlig renhold og veldig mye klegg.

  • 1 of 5

Owner's Response: Thank you for takng rime to write your comments, which we welcome. Although we appreciate the problems with ins to and spiders, the cottage is set in the countryside. Unfortunately, despite thorough cleaning two days before your arrival, a few spiders can make a web. Outside, is an olive grove, fruit trees and so on, We prefer not to use harmful chemical insecticide as this can be detrimental to animals, bees etc., We of course try very hard to ensure a pleasant environment for guests, but we do offer a country retreat, and sometimes we are unable to rid grounds of everything. Please , accept our apologies for any stress caused .
