About Giannis Siganos
We will wait you at a beautiful traditional village in East Crete! All the houses have been renovated and rebuilt from stones and wood. The village took its name from the fantastic sunrise which is occurred here as the name of the village in Greek language means sunrise. The view to the Libyan sea and to Chrissi island is magnificent and you can see it from all the apartments. We would be glad to give you all the information you need and show you the beautiful nature.
Why Giannis Siganos chose Ierapetra
The small mountain village is the starting point of a wonderful central location for excursions; ranging from about Ierapetra Myrtos, Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, Vai and many other south-eastern destinations. Some options for natural sites very close to Anatoli village is Sarakina Kanyon and Selakano forest. Chrissi island which is famous for its beaches, is 40-minute ferry ride away. Diving, sailing, cycling and horseback riding are available. In addition, there are archaeological sites, as the Dictean cave, the Minoan Town of Gournia. .The surrounding countryside is breathtaking. The rugged cliffs, the wonderfully fragrant herbs and plants are unique. The beautiful nature around captivates your soul and one of the most magnificent sunrise occurring there. There is possibility for walking as a lot of cobblestones are in the village, for hiking as a variety from paths and gorges are available in a very close distance. What makes this Villa unique
Visit during your stay at Ariadne villa a small family business to attend a free seminar for endemic plants of Crete in a bio-dynamic way. The village of the rising sun, as its name declares. The golden rays illuminate Anatoli, the hanging rocks, the Holy Cross church, Drygies, Karkasa, and give the impression that the sun keeps rising. The area of Anatoli has many ecclesiastical monuments, Monasteries and Byzantine icons of great art.The old traditional settlement of Anatoli has remained untouched by time, with its stone-built houses, the alleys, the old Kato Vrysi. Some years ago, it entered a program ofrenovation, was characterized as a traditional settlement and today houses and tourist lodgings of exceptional esthetics are built in stone. In a few years, Anatoli of Ierapetra willbe one of the most beautiful villages of Crete, with its wonderful climate, its extraordinary view, its incomparable natural landscape on which the Museum of Natural Historyof Crete has worked and about which it published a relevant document. Anatoli as well as its residents have to this day been successful in the agricultural, tourist and intellectual sectors. Personalities coming from the village dominate the political, social and intellectual life of our country. Anatoli was a Municipality in the beginning of the 20th century, then a Community and today a Local Department ofthe Municipality of Ierapetra, building its future on solid foundations. Hosting important cultural events, with itshistorical, folkloric and musical contributions, it is a center of attraction of bothlocals and foreigners. Anatoli is even rich in snails and wild mushrooms.

Quaint mountain village rental
If you are looking for an accommodation on Crete that is away from the buses and crowds that clog many coastal communities, this would be a good place to consider. Shops and tavernas are limited here, however, so you must be prepared to bring your own supplies. The unit is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, and flatware. It has a stove and refrigerator. The television in the bedroom is excellent. Very quiet, peaceful place with wonderful views to the southern coast.
Thank you very much Mark ! You are always welcome!
We have rented Anatoli Traditional villa for a family of 3 for 2 weeks at the end of October. It was a perfect vacation rental with fantastic view to the sea! Kyriaki and Giannis do everything possible to make your stay comfortable, the contact is warm, people we enjoyed meeting!
There are paths inside the village and as the house is built on the mountain, opportunities for morning strolls up and down the mountain slope and more options within 5 min easy driving. The village is very friendly and completely quiet with a nice tavern and a local café which works also as a mini market for the very essential things. The nearest town of Ierapetra just a few miles away, has many super markets, many restaurant choices, cafe , ,bars ,shops and many options of archaeological sites! There are also many options of very nice beaches 15 min from the village. A house we definitely recommend to our friends. Thank you for this great stay! We will return..
Thank you very much George. We are very glad that you and your family have enjoyed your stay! We hope to see you again in the future and we whish you a very happy new year!
Beutifully renovated Cretan stone houses!
A traditional family complex recently renovated. The interior and the outdoor areas are really fantastic: Two of the houses have 1 double bedroom + double sofa bed, bathroom and comfortable kitchen, the other has 2 x bedrooms can accommodate up to 4 or to 5 people, 2 bathrooms. Each one with terrace, kitchen ,balcony and garden. This complex can be ideal for couples and pairs of friends. The area is very quiet distance from the sea is 12 km by car and to reach the beautiful beach of Mirtos is 20 min around by car. The location is ideal those looking for 'peace'. Thank you Kyriaki and Giannis for the nice hospitality!
Thank you so much Erene for your kind words and we are very glad that you enjoyed your stay. You are excellent guests and we are looking forward to see you again!
The real thing
This is a beautiful property. In the past, we have occasionally booked rentals that have indulged in "creative photography" in their VRBO presentations. What you see in this property's photos is what you get.
The masonry and exposed woodwork were obviously done as a labor of love. The facilities very nice. The veranda is a jewel. We spent hours there watching the clouds and the sea in an atmosphere of utter quiet. Not a sound of cars, people or jets. Peace.
Kryiaki was very nice and welcomed us with candied figs in honey and Raki. She was as helpful as she could be. We enjoyed our times with her.
All in all this property was a very good value. A bit of a haul to get to, but worth it. We highly recommend it and would come back again.
Thank you very much John and Tawny for your kind words. We are very clad that we have met you and we hope to see you again in the future!
Peace & quiet!
We have spend 2 weeks in one of the houses of the Anatoli complex. Car is a must in this location. It actually consist of 5 different apartments which are in fact restored old houses located at the Anatoli village hillside, overlooking Mediterranean sea. Village itself is unfortunately mostly ruined and abandoned. It has one small store (no sign or logo to find t out, look for the big commercial refrigerator outside the building) and one tavern (of average quality).
Apartment which we have rented (2 bedrooms) was very nice, tastefully decorated, very nice finishes, fully equipped. One thing we lacked was AC as few nights were really difficult. Apartment is quite big, 2 bedrooms (each about 10 sqm), 2 baths, kitchen with dining area and family room with TV, DVD. One bedroom is located on the most upper level while second is at the lowest level so they give a lot of privacy to its users. Moving around it may be an issue for people with disabilities as it lies on 5 levels with plenty of stairs inside.
Communication with the host - Giannis has been exceptional.
We liked the house so much that sometimes, in the most hot days, we were reluctant to leave it. It has thick, stone walls which is the reason for cooler air inside.
Ierapetra area is mostly agricultural, plenty of glasshouses. To the nice beach with sunbeds and umbrellas its about 30 minutes (Mirtos village), there is closer one at Gra Lygia (20 minutes) but its a stony one and quite small. Good thing is that beaches are not crowded (we were in a highest season). Closest supermarket is also 20 minutes, there is LIDL and big supermarket in Ierapetra. To summarize - its a perfect & beautiful house for peaceful and quiet holidays in the real rural Greece.
Thank you very much Matt. You are always welcome!
Super relaxing holidays!
Giannis and Kyriaki have done an excellent job in preparing this small and very charming apartment. The stone-built house is located in a very quiet area and it seemed to us that it was really and essentially clean. The natural materials are of very good quality although the bathroom is rather small. Cretan food is perfect and the view unbelievable! Very friendly owners that offering much more than typical hospitality!!
Thank you very much Mike and Mary! Always welcome!
