Why Richard Weiss chose Saint Thomas d'Aquin

I love to walk in Paris. I wanted a flat located in a strategically located central area that allowed me to visit all the main landmarks without having to take public transportation. Yet, I wanted to be close to public transportation for those really cold rainy days. Creme Caramel met those requirements.

Rue de Verneuil seemed perfect for its large selection of exquisite food stores and shops, and large choice of fine restaurants.

I wished to have easy access to all the best museums and galleries.

I searched to find an oasis of peace where I could relax at the end of the day from the traffic and noise of Paris' streets. Rue de Verneuil was perfect, being mainly a pedestrian street with an occasional passing car.

I wanted to live in a historic Parisian building with thick stone walls. Rue de Verneuil was created in 1605, and the building dates from the 18th century.

Finally, I wanted our "pied a terre" to blend the luxury of a five star hotel with the comfort of home.

What makes this apartment unique

I immediately fell in love with the magnificent exposed stone wall. I chose to create a dramatic lighting to enhance its natural beauty.

I also found the cobblestone courtyard charming and old fashioned. And I loved the fact that I won't have to carry big heavy suitcases along a staircase or inside a small Parisian elevator.

I knew that the ground floor wouldn't have the amount of natural light that a high floor has to offer. But I was enchanted by the warm and cosy atmosphere of the front rooms while the kitchen and bathroom were flooded with natural light..

Our home in Paris!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! The apartment was exactly as shown in the photos - charming, comfortable, exceptionally well designed and generously supplied with everything we could possibly need. It was located in a quiet attractive street in a wonderful area, within easy walking distance to the cafes and restaurants of St Germain, the Musee d'Orsay, the Louvre, the quais of the Seine, and an easy bus ride to other areas. Loved visiting the local boulangerie for croissants every morning, and having a relaxing breakfast in our apartment before setting out for the day. The apartment was cool and welcoming, even in the 36 degree heat that Paris was experiencing, and we appreciated the layout which enabled me to pull the curtain and have a quiet nap, while my husband watched the World Cup on TV.

Maeve was very helpful with prompt responses and offers of assistance, and Ludovic was very thorough when checking us in, with information and suggestions. We have stayed in many different studio apartments in Paris - but this was definitely the best - hope to return here on our next visit. Only one regret - that we only had 6 nights here - could easily have stayed for a month!

Excellent Accommodations in the City of Lights

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Creme Caramel was exceptional. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. The bed was most comfortable after a day of sightseeing, eating and just enjoying the surrounding area. Thank you for a most wonderful Parisien experience.

Just as advertised!

  • 5 of 5

Crème Caramel was a great place to stay. Small but perfect for 2 people. With the D'Orsay out the door and 2 blocks to the right and the Louvre and Tuilerie Gardens just a couple blocks and across the river, who could ask for more. The apt. was well equipped, quiet, clean, secure and in a neighbourhood with "real people" not just tourists. The Kayser, bakery/coffee/simple breakfast and takeaway, a 1/2 a block down the street served us well for breakfast each morning. Notre Dame and the Italian section also within walking distance. The neighbourhood around the apt. is worth exploring with many little shops, food market, atm's and restaurants all in the surrounding blocks. We enjoyed starting our day sitting in Kayser's with coffee and croissant and watching the busy locals going about their day.

I would highly recommend Crème Caramel to travellers to Paris.

Parisian Character Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Crème Caramel for 4 nights in May before leaving for a Conference at a Hotel. Needless to say, we preferred this place over the Hotel. The unit was exactly as described and everything was ready when Ludovic showed us in. Ludovic even stayed around making sure we had no problem connecting to the wifi network and gave us some useful information on what to do in Paris. Not only is this the perfect little Parisian flat, it's in a great neighbourhood. A few doors down is one of the best Chocolate Boutiques, Le Cacaotier. Their chocolate bars are unreal - I bought 7! Across the street, is Androuet - a must stop for Cheese Lovers. At the corner is Maison Guyard, a place to grab French delicacies to take back to your flat - Colette served us and she is a gem. Across from there is an incredible wine store, Le Cave des Climats where we found wine we had only read about. Around the corner is a Monoprix grocery store which was fun just to navigate their aisles. First trip to Paris was a success - and hopefully we will make it back to Crème Caramel.

Elegant, clean, perfectly located apartment

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Creme Caramel for 3 weeks in April and May 2018. It was as lovely in person as it is on the website. It is very small, but absolutely perfectly put together - sitting space, the bedroom area (very comfortable large bed), a fully equipped kitchen, and a very small but full bath with shower. Plus more than adequate hanging and drawer space for clothes AND storage for luggage and extra linens. Whoever designed this was a genius. It is clean, and no evidence of wear and tear on the furniture or fabrics. We've stayed in a number of apartments in Paris in the 5th, 6th and 7th, and this is the most perfectly located apartment ever. Our only issue was difficulty in getting a response regarding the cleaning schedule from the apartment manager - 3 days with no response to my numerous emails and calls; however, when I emailed the owner, Richard, the matter was handled immediately and satisfactorily. We would absolutely stay here again.

The rue de Verneuil is a calm architectural delight studded with exquisite shops, art galleries, antique shops, and fine restaurants.

It is strategically located a stone’s throw away from the Musée d’Orsay, two short blocks away from the Seine, with the Louvre and the Tuilleries gardens just on the other side of the river, and two blocks from Boulevard St Germain.

- Browse the neighboring boutiques “Carré Rive Gauche”, several city blocks of the highest concentration of antique shops and art galleries on the Left Bank.

The rue de Verneuil's immediate proximity to eight major museums (the Louvre, Orsay, l'Orangerie, Legion d’Honor, Rodin, Maillol, Grand Palais, and Petit Palais museums) makes it ideal for an art lover.

- Walk to the "Le Bon Marché", the luxury department store.

- Stroll to St Germain des Prés and its famous "Café de Flore" and café "Les Deux Magots". Visit the designer shops (Kenzo, Thierry Mugler, Yamamoto, Sonia Rykiel, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Armani), and the Faubourg St Honoré's high fashion shops (Chanel, Cartier, Givenchi, Lancome, Lanvin, Louboutin).

Its prime location is ideal for visiting Paris on foot.

Walk to Notre Dame cathedral, ile St Louis, the Latin Quarter, and the Luxembourg garden. Walk through the Tuilleries gardens to the Place de la Concorde and the Champs Elysées. Enjoy the pedestrian river bank walk to the Eiffel Tower and then rue Cler.

If you don’t favor walking, you’ll find within 2 blocks : 1 taxi station, 12 different buses serving all of Paris' major points of interest, and 3 subway stations - with one going to Chateau de Versailles.
