A delightful traditional three storey stone building next to the village church. It has been renovated to make an historic but comfortable home with modern kitchen, bathroom and character features. It sleeps two plus a further two if the salon is used as a second bedroom, so is ideal for a couple or small family. There is also a travel cot for a baby. Quiet village location. About George Cooke
UK resident with family
George Cooke purchased this House in 2005
Why George Cooke chose Bouilhonnac
We were looking for an authentic old property in a quiet rural location, but near to a choice of airports and good motorway links. Having a view of the old city of Carcassone was an added bonus! The region has fine weather most of the year and gives a variety of activities and destinations to explore. History, mountains, coast or simply pottering about to get a feel for the French way of life.
What makes this House unique
The house is at the top of a very small village with views over the surrounding countryside. Being next to the mainly disused village church and ruined castle adds to the sense of history. The nearest town is only 2.5 km away with supermarkets and traditional French shops. 10 minutes further is the old city of Carcassone with more modern large supermarkets etc on the outskirts.

One with character
We were looking for a place with character and we certainly found it. Situated in a quiet, small village but close to Trebes and Carcassone where there were plenty of shops and restaurants, made it ideal. There were actually three floors, the ground, kitchen, laundry and dining, the second lounge and bathroom and finally the third, the master bedroom. This room had a sloping ceiling where you had to bend your head when entering, but had a small window from which you could see the castle. The spiral steps may not be suitable for some as they are quite steep. We found the place clean, well equipped and comfortable. The lady that looks after the place offered to bring fresh bread every day and we were most grateful for her assistance. There is no garden to sit in at night but we did utilise the adjoining church steps on a few occasions, taking in the view and quietness of the village. Would I recommend this holiday rental? Yes I would and certainly we would be happy to stay there again.
