Big beautiful house with plenty of room for us all. The kids loved it too. It was great and secure for them, even the 18month old could run around without worry.
Brendan was very helpful and always cheerful.
The house is very close to the centre of clifden, a good staggering distance home from the pub!
Just a short note to say thanks a million for looking after the house so well - very much appreciated!!
I hope you and the family got back home safe and sound and that ye all enjoyed your time in Benbaun House and Connemara.
Many thanks again
Really nice well equipped property close to town with good children security
We as a family had the most relaxed and comfortable week in what turned out to be great weather. There was enough bedrooms for sixteen of us with perhaps three or four to spare, all ensuite.Huge space for the children to play and lose themselves but still secure.
Bicycles were available and the area offered lots of things to do and close to beautiful beaches with clean sea and sand. We played golf on a local nine hole par three which was a lot of fun. The town of Clifden was alive and well and offered entertainment all day and kids were welcome.
Brendan the owner gave us a good start with lots of knowledge of the locality and offered to cover any problems providing his phone number which was not necessary.
He is a really nice host friendly and disarming with a lovely Irish accent.Have no difficulty in giving him and the house a five star rating.
Many thanks Raymond for your excellent review, it was a great pleasure to welcome you and your family to Connemara. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and the facilities at Benbaun House. Many thanks again and best wishes to you and the family from Brendan.
WOW!! What a property. We were a party of 10 adults and 6 kids and the property couldn't have been more perfect. The owners had thought of everything. The house was immaculate inside and out with plenty of space for the kids to run around. The play area on the side was great which the kids loved with a great area at the rear for a BBQ. The rooms inside were very spacious and each with an en suite. There were bikes, wetsuits and bodyboards which the kids made use of. The town of Clifden was lovely and was a 5 minute walk away. Lots of great restaurants, pubs and shops. So, to sum it all up we had a brilliant week.....great location, great people and a great house. See you next time Brendan. Thanks ..... Rachael
Many thanks for your review - Rachael and Martin. Hope you all got home safety.
We spent a week at Benbaun House and found the house to be absolutely perfect in every way. The facilities for the children were wonderful and the house was lovely. The house was clean and very well maintained, Clifden itself was a lovely town, the people were so kind and friendly. We had a lovely time at Humpty's, a very nice pub. I hope we will be able to return one day. The owner, Brendan, was lovely and so helpful. Thank you Brendan, everything was perfect.

Clifden Town is the Capital of Connemara one of the most scenic regions in Ireland. Founded in the early 1800’s at Clifden Bay, it follows the classic 19th century layout: oval in plan, with three principal streets - Market Street, Main Street and Bridge Street, a Market Square, a fine bridewell or gaol, courthouse and harbour.
Clifden today is a vibrant and cultural town which has retained its historic roots while developing in services and facilities. You will find colourful streets with a great selection of small local food shops – (fishmongers, butchers, fruit and vegetable store, delicatessens and a bakery) , numerous craft and gift shops, art galleries and exhibitions and other interesting shops including antique shops, designer clothes shops, jewellery and vintage shops.
In between all of these you will find a great selection of Restaurants, Cafes and Pubs. Most pubs in Clifden serve Bar food and have live music weekly. On the practical side there are three supermarkets, two banks, three chemists, two petrol stations, two churches and a post office.
For many, the allure of Connemara is in the ever changing scenery, the magical light, walks on the beach, turf fires, the rugged landscape, wild life and flora, the sense of history or a plate of fresh oysters and a pint of Guinness by the fire singing along to a local music session. However, if you wish to plan some activities during your visit here are some suggestions…
Clifden area is a walkers paradise whether following a planned route or just ambling along country roads and beaches, of which there are many. You will find a folder of 20 different Connemara walks in the house or follow the Road signs around the countryside which indicate good routes for walking or cycling.
