About Hilary Maher
We are an Irish Couple with 3 grown up children living in England. We have been coming to this beautiful area for over 35 years. The closeness to the Sea and the Magnificent Views from our Villa are some of the reason we enjoy the area so much. This is a beautifully furnished villa. A home away from home with all the little luxuries you would have at home, 50 inch plasma tv, American fridge freezer with filtered water and ice machine, TV's in all the bedrooms, Dishwasher, DVD, Music Stereo, Juicer, Coffee machine, Pool Table etc, etc. We are sure anyone staying here will feel as relaxed and at home as we do.
Hilary Maher purchased this Villa in 1980

Fab property but in need of some tlc
Clearly a stunning view from a spacious property with super facilities, but, lots of tired furniture and fittings. Some broken. Bedroom door handle broken and requests to fix were unactioned. Kitchen electrics, some dodgy loose sockets, again, requests to remedy were unactioned. Ceiling in one bathroom looks like it's about to collapse. Kitchen cutlery, pots and pans etc all well past their best and pans were in a very very poor condition and need replacing. Lots of cutlery and crockery but it doesn't match and just shows how the place needs some love. Bbq was filthy when we arrived and caught fire from all the grease that was caked underneath, but this was cleaned on request and to a good standard
But the views were stunning. Pool was fab as were the sunbeds. We still had a fabulous time.
WHAT A VIEW!
Lovely villa with the most stunning view. The villa is obviously a well loved home and it feels comfortable and welcoming and you get the impression that much fun and laughter has taken place there over the years.
Loved the pool area so much and the eating space and outdoor kitchen is brilliant. We didn't have to move very far during the day as everything we needed was by the pool!
Garden is HUGE but could do with cutting back the trees below the pool as I am sure the amazing view of Gibraltar and Africa from the pool area will be impeded eventually. Also could do with some seating in the top garden by the kitchen to catch the last of the beautiful evening sunshine - move the table and chairs on the steps may be?
Inside the villa my fave room was the lounge with one of the best views possibly in the whole world! It was a great space to hang out in on an eve when a bit too chilly to sit on the balcony.
Ate in mostly and used the outdoor kitchen (I want one!) but we did get a pizza takeaway one night which was alright and we also ordered takeaway from the local Indian which we all agreed was possibly one of the best we'd ever had! definitely recommend. The menu details are all in the tray on the office desk in the lounge.
Sotogrande was nice but quite a walk in the heat and the hill back up to the villa I imagine could be quite a challenge but not for folk like us that live on the Yorkshire hills and also had 2 teenage boys with us that were happy to run down to the shops (for a small fee)! The Sunday flea market was good (although they have very posh fleas in Sotogrande!) Lots of lovely bars there and had a nice tostada con tomate breakfast at the Hairy Lemon.
Overall we loved the holiday. Its a family home and we felt very much at home in it. We wished we'd booked to stay for 2 weeks.
The pictures do not do this villa justice. When we arrived we were blown away by the sheer size of the place and the stunning pool area. The villa is so well located with a wonderful town and beach a short stroll away and half an hour from Marbella. The house keeper could not do enough to help and truly made our stay a comfortable one. We cannot thank the hosts enough for making our weekend away an unforgettable one.
Our holiday started with a very warm greeting upon arrival, including an extensive guide of the property and facilities from the lovely owners Hilary and Bill.
The villa has outstanding views, fabulous outside entertaining/sun bathing pool area with its very own bar!
Plenty of space inside, everything you could possibly need/want was there.
We can't wait to return!
The James's from Brighton.
We stayed for a week in Feb 2017 wasn't long enough!
Plenty of room in the Villa, lots of time spent at the pool bar and by the pool.
The men went in the pool, once they were used to the water they were ok!
Owners manual was good we had a few drives out, would recommend you get a hire car, went to a few other ports that were good for food however Sotogrande was only a walk away so when we all wanted a drink we went there.
The supermarket in the village was ok for daily things but we drove to Lidl (about 10min) to get the big shop for the week.
Sun was out till around 7pm, temp drops at night but we just put the heating on for 10 min and were fine, the heat seemed to stay in the house.
There was an outdoor pool table and table tennis we used after thee sun went down or on the couple of days the weather wasn't great. (If the sun wasn't coming out we just went for a drive, plenty to see) . The Sky TV also helped as the lad could watch the rugby / footy.
The tapas bars were great in the village was a case of not enough time to eat at them all but we tried.
The owner was great & responsive on emails, also the Caretakers were great for directions, we also checked in at 9am as we had early flights so thanks again, hope to be back soon.

Stunning! great week, surprisingly good weather, lots to do, plenty to see
We booked last minute thanks to some cheap flights into Gibraltar, taxi to villa was £20, the owner let us check in early at 11am which was a great help!
We have a 4 month old so the house all being on the same level was great for the buggy! Plus Hilary who we spoke to a few times while booking provided a high chair, Cot and some other bits for the baby to save us needing an extra case!
The villa is great, loads of room, absolutely stunning views over the med and Gibraltar, we had Sky TV and a internet box for BBC / ITV... so when the sun went in we had plenty to watch, also watched a few DVDs that were there.
We spent loads of time by the pool and the bar area was great, we had some friends over so was great to host, we didn't have the pool heated but it was ok for Adults (mainly after a couple of cocktails) The Kitchen area / Fridge... were very useful and we had a BBQ one of the days.
We had the owners guide before we arrived which helped us sort our week out (Hilary sent us some info when we booked) my husband played golf, while me and my son went to the market. We had a few day trips, a car isn't necessary as most things are a short walk (Shop's, Port, Restaurants...) however we got a cheap one for a few days and went to Rhonda / Marbella to see the posh people / Gibraltar to see the Monkeys and to Estepona which had even more restaurants and My husband went on a fishing trip for a few hours.
Anyway back to the snow and Baltic temperatures now but will likely go back again next year when my son is old enough to enjoy it! We are looking to go back this summer as the pergola at the pool would be great to keep the boy out of the sun! Lets hope there are some cheap flights.
PS the Tapas bars (all 4 of them) are great and so cheap we will miss them!
