About Hilary Maher
We are an Irish Couple with 3 grown up children living in England. We have been coming to this beautiful area for over 35 years. The closeness to the Sea and the Magnificent Views from our Villa are some of the reason we enjoy the area so much. This is a beautifully furnished villa. A home away from home with all the little luxuries you would have at home, 50 inch plasma tv, American fridge freezer with filtered water and ice machine, TV's in all the bedrooms, Dishwasher, DVD, Music Stereo, Juicer, Coffee machine, Pool Table etc, etc. We are sure anyone staying here will feel as relaxed and at home as we do.
Hilary Maher purchased this Villa in 1980

Lovely villa. Huge outdoor area around the pool with bar, dining, cooking and chill out area where we spent most of our time. Hilary and the caretakers who live downstairs were all very welcoming and friendly . We walked up and down the hill to the village every day although it might be a bit steep for some. Thoroughly recommend this villa
We visited the villa as a family of four along with my parents. This was our first visit to a villa and we were not disappointed. The villa is clean, very roomy and very well equipped.
The outdoor space is amazing my children did not want to come home spending many hours of fun in the pool and on the pool table at night.
We never managed to do everything we planned as there are so many places to visit. We ate at pura tapa one night and the food was amazing.
Hilary was really helpful with emails offering advice on rental cars and restaurants in the surrounding area, we didn't eat out as much as we expected as the villa was so well equipped to make it easy to eat in.
The pool has a nice shaded area which was great for my mum who enjoyed this area. The pool area has a fridge & freezer, great for storing drinks & ice creams to have around the pool.
The walk to the shops & restaurants is steep, only me & my husband attempted this, however the pay off for this are the views and the privacy, the pool area is not over looked and is very secure.
The villa is well looked after and loved, we will definitely be back.
Great place for a relaxing holiday
Could use a bit of investment and sprucing up, but spacious, comfortable, and location is great! Amazing views and great place for a relaxing holiday. Pool and pool area are fantastic!
Fantastic villa and views
After a few problems at the start which were immediately put right and did not affect us too much, our stay was very enjoyable. The owner responds very quickly to any emails and Andrea the caretaker who lives downstairs was always available if needed and very helpful but did not intrude.
The pool area is amazing and not overlooked at all and the pool was always warm enough to spend long periods of time in it.
The villa is extremely spacious with a very large sitting room. There is a terrace the length of the villa where you can sit and enjoy views of Gibraltar and Africa.
The villa stays very cool and we only needed to use the air conditioning at night intermittently.
The kitchen had ample crockery and utensils for us though I try not to cook too much when I’m away. There is lots of fridge and freezer space (2 fridge freezers) one being an American can style fridge that dispenses water and ice. Two more fridges by the pool also.
It is a short walk into town (the walk back is uphill but good for burning the calories off from the meal just eaten).
There were virtually no mosquitoes which is a first for us and a big plus.
There are numerous tables outside that you can use and move to wherever it is you want to sit. There is also a pool table on the terrace.
While we were there swallows had just fledged the nest above the pool table but kept returning during the day and at night to sleep, which was wonderful to watch.
We went dolphin watching in Tarifa (saw many) and visited Sotogrande and Gibraltar. Also a market in Estepona on Wednesday then visited Casares - a lovely old Spanish town nearby.
A very relaxing stay in a wonderful villa and we would love to return as there is more exploring we’d like to do in the area.
WHAT A VIEW!
Lovely villa with the most stunning view. The villa is obviously a well loved home and it feels comfortable and welcoming and you get the impression that much fun and laughter has taken place there over the years.
Loved the pool area so much and the eating space and outdoor kitchen is brilliant. We didn't have to move very far during the day as everything we needed was by the pool!
Garden is HUGE but could do with cutting back the trees below the pool as I am sure the amazing view of Gibraltar and Africa from the pool area will be impeded eventually. Also could do with some seating in the top garden by the kitchen to catch the last of the beautiful evening sunshine - move the table and chairs on the steps may be?
Inside the villa my fave room was the lounge with one of the best views possibly in the whole world! It was a great space to hang out in on an eve when a bit too chilly to sit on the balcony.
Ate in mostly and used the outdoor kitchen (I want one!) but we did get a pizza takeaway one night which was alright and we also ordered takeaway from the local Indian which we all agreed was possibly one of the best we'd ever had! definitely recommend. The menu details are all in the tray on the office desk in the lounge.
Sotogrande was nice but quite a walk in the heat and the hill back up to the villa I imagine could be quite a challenge but not for folk like us that live on the Yorkshire hills and also had 2 teenage boys with us that were happy to run down to the shops (for a small fee)! The Sunday flea market was good (although they have very posh fleas in Sotogrande!) Lots of lovely bars there and had a nice tostada con tomate breakfast at the Hairy Lemon.
Overall we loved the holiday. Its a family home and we felt very much at home in it. We wished we'd booked to stay for 2 weeks.
Fab property but in need of some tlc
Clearly a stunning view from a spacious property with super facilities, but, lots of tired furniture and fittings. Some broken. Bedroom door handle broken and requests to fix were unactioned. Kitchen electrics, some dodgy loose sockets, again, requests to remedy were unactioned. Ceiling in one bathroom looks like it's about to collapse. Kitchen cutlery, pots and pans etc all well past their best and pans were in a very very poor condition and need replacing. Lots of cutlery and crockery but it doesn't match and just shows how the place needs some love. Bbq was filthy when we arrived and caught fire from all the grease that was caked underneath, but this was cleaned on request and to a good standard
But the views were stunning. Pool was fab as were the sunbeds. We still had a fabulous time.
