About Eddie Ager
I am a Chartered Accountant by trade and intend to retire to this property in 10 years or so.
Eddie Ager purchased this Villa in 1994
Why Eddie Ager chose Quarteira
The property was bought from new by my parents in 1994 and I took it over in 2013. I intend to retire to this property and have visited for holidays at least once a year for 24 years. The villa is in a beautiful and well maintained area with plenty of nice bars and restaurants within walking distance in the season. Vilamoura is a special area within the Algarve and is maintained to a very high standard by the private civic management company. It is where people come to be seen.
What makes this Villa unique
Three minutes walk from the Old Village is so handy. there's a supermarket, cyber cafe, and bars and restaurants with a good selection of options. Just twenty minutes stroll and you're in the sophisticated Marina, with multi million euro yachts in the heart of Vilamoura. Bars, shops and restaurants abound here. It is the place to be seen in the Algarve. Just a few minutes beyond this and you're at the beach! There are food options, facilities and refreshments right on the back of the sand and if you're too hot and lazy to walk back it's only a five minute taxi! And you can wash the sand off in the private pool! But, golf is the key. 6 courses within 5 mins drive.

Super spacious family villa
I’ve just returned from 10 nights at this fabulous villa spent with my husband, teenage son and parents. The villa is incredibly spacious and spilt across several levels with a high level of finish in the living and dining areas. Lots of seating both inside and out. A real plus was that each bedroom was ensuite giving each generation their own space. The beds were the most comfortable we have experienced when compared to other villas or hotels and a great night’s sleep was had by all. The table tennis in the garage was a great added bonus! The main downside was the lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms - in particular the top bedroom which got very hot. There were fans in each room which worked well in the first two bedrooms but it wasn’t easy to get the temperature down in the third bedroom.
The villa was further from the marina that I’d realized and we ended up using our hire car in the evening to go to the marina for dinner. However, there are bars, restaurants and a supermarket in the Old Village which was handy if we wanted to stay closer to home. The villa was well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday. The pool, garden and house were serviced well during our stay and the Clever Details team were very helpful and flexible.
This is a great villa in a quiet and secure setting. It would be perfect with some more air conditioning and perhaps a walk in shower. We would all happily return :-)
Hello - many thanks for the review - appreciated. We note what you are saying about air conditioning in the top bedroom and will see what we can do. Our stragegy, in addition to the fan, is to open the balcony door but leave the metal grille closed and then open the door to the roof terrace. That lets the hot air out of the top of the house and cools things down. Really pleased you would stay again - happy to give a discount to return visitors! Eddie Ager.
The Villa was in a great location very near to The Old Village which has a lovely bakery, bars and restaurants.
It literally was home from home with a pool which actually was bigger than expected. There was plenty of outside space to eat and there was lots of comfy sun beds.
The large living area and dining room looked like it had been upgraded both with air conditioning and the kitchen was more than adequate to feed our family of seven. The three bedrooms were all en-suite which was a massive plus. The two upstairs bedrooms had the added advantage of a lovely balcony/patio area which had the sun all day long. All the bedrooms had fans which kept the rooms cool. The roof top terrace also gave stunning views.
Overall a great relaxing holiday was had by all in this large spacious villa and would definitely recommend.
Thank you for your review - glad you enjoyed your stay!
Very tired and in need of repairs.
The pool was unusable for the first two days. Maintenance people came every day which gave us no privacy. The property was very tired and in need of repairs. I tripped over a loose edge on one of the steps. It was a good job that it was me and not my disabled dad. There was only one channel that was in English on the television and these programs repeated. There were some good points though, everyone who came to do work or solve problems were all very nice. The food and drink, left for us was great, as it meant we didn't have to shop immediately. Clever details were very helpful. It would have been useful to be able to open the garage door to store the mobility scooter.
Hello Lisa - so sorry you did not enjoy your stay and really sorry about the pool pump, which failed. It was new last year, we had someone out to look at it the same day you notified Clever Details and it was replaced next day. For the TV channels we do pay each month for as many English TV channels as we get in the UK with Free View. There are two remotes, full instructions in the villa and Clever Details would have assisted if you had let them know you were having no luck accessing the channels. I am glad that you enjoyed the welcome pack and that Clever Details were helpful. In terms of villa maintenance we spend every euro we receive from bookings plus we send out a lot of money ourselves on the upkeep of the villa. In the last 3 years the villa has been completely repainted outside, has had new flooring in the lounge, dining room, hallway, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, new settee, coffee table, bar furniture, flat screen TV, TV stand, dining room table and chairs and cupboard, new chest of draws and bedside units in all 3 bedrooms, new settee in the gallery area, new bar furniture on the roof, 4 new outside tables and chairs, new sun loungers, new light fittings throughout the villa and has had balcony patios relaid. The upper landing and stairs still have carpet, which we are hoping to replace this winter. We would like to replace the bathrooms but have to save up for that. Although the villa was only built in the 1990s Portuguese building standards fit villas with metal pipes and they need to be replaced with polypipe so it is a hugely expensive job in total that we need to save for. The loose edge on the step down to the bar is actually a thin plastic decorative strip on the edge of the new laminate flooring, impossible to trip on - Clever Details have now screwed it into the laminate. Once again I would like to apologise for your experience. The vast majority of reviews we get are very positive. We did make a partial refund to you for your inconvenience. I believe you paid a very modest price per person per night. Would you believe that after Home Away fees, VAT, local agents and Portuguese income withholding tax we end up with about half of that! We do our very best to offer, what is a very expensive villa, at competitive rates. I always come out at the start of the season to make sure everything is OK and two of us spent a week checking, pressure washing and painting to make sure everything was fresh and ready for the season. Sorry Lisa - we genuinely try our best but didn't get it right this time!
Spacious villa with all the home comforts
Large family villa
The villa was great, very big, quiet location. The 3 bedrooms all have ensuite with showers. We found the downstairs bedroom the coolest, there is aircon but only in the living room and dining areas. There is a lovely roof top terrace which was great for breakfast and early morning sun. The private pool was lovely and clean, we had to scoop flowers out every morning but I think this was only because of the time of year we visited. The barbecue was clean but out of gas which was quickly rectified by the girl at Clever Details. The only gripe would be the boiler is a little small and only 1 shower at a time can be used.
The old village is about 5 minutes walk down the road and has delightful restaurants and cafes, the walk to the Marina is straight forward but about 30 mins.
There is a supermarket in the old village and a larger Spar on the way to the Marina about 15 mins away.
Very Relaxing stay
The villa is situated in a very good location, right next to the old town. The pool was bigger than expected and the sunbeds were very comfortable.
The villa needs a bit of modernisation but it was very clean and spacious and has everything you need for a relaxing stay.
Hello Tracey - many thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Over the closed season, since you stayed, we have installed all new flooring downstairs and in the bedrooms. I think you would notice a big difference and hope you will book again. Thanks again.
